I am a tablescape junkie. I have multiple sets of dishes, glassware, flatware, etc to set my tables with. So I also have lots of linens, napkin rings, chargers, centerpiece items, and so forth. It’s kinda my jam. My maternal grandmother, my mom, and I loved dishes and accompany things, so I love this.

I come from an Irish family so I have lots of beautiful vintage tablecloths, china, crystal, etc. and a reverence for beautiful table settings. I don’t keep a tablecloth on the table in the dining room, but I set the daylights out of it for holidays. My family totally doesn’t get it. 😂I also have a rug that I just love because I got it while traveling. It defines the space in an open floor plan. My grandmothers would have disapproved of a naked table.

No tablecloth on my dining room table, but I do have a rug. Currently I have a few of the brass candlesticks from my collection on there as a centerpiece. I'm working on updating/changing it though.

I have a lace tablecloth on the dining room table because it's a fancy Italian table with inlaid wood, and I need to keep it protected. I also keep clear plastic on top of that for protection's sake. Not fond of having a cloth since I'd like to show the table itself, but until we get a piece of glass or acrylic custom cut to fit the table (which has been in the works for the 22+ years we have had the table ![>:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png) ), a tablecloth it is. No rug, and I keep a lovely bowl on the table as a centerpiece. We really only use the dining room on special occasions, but my office looks straight into it, so I like to keep it looking nice.

I do keep a tablecloth on the table, and there is a rug in there, and no, they do not always match.

Another tablescaping junkie here. I also check flea markets for cool vintage ones, although my absolute favorite is one I bought years ago, in my twenties. It was one from Martha Stewart's first collection at K-Mart and it is absolutely beautiful. Has a print with aqua colored ribbons and looks so sweet and countryish. It has a couple of tiny wine stains and a cigarette burn from my drunk girlfriend Lena. Its so sentimental to me, when I put it on the table after an ironing with some spray starch just makes me instantly happy.
I have all wood floors and I have a rectangular rug underneath the table. To me it just looks finished. We don't have messy eaters anymore so no worries there.
I alternate between table runners and table cloths. I always use a placemat when we do sit down to eat so the tablecloths will stay clean longer. However if I have people over I'll use a fresh one and wash it after. For just us it stays on longer.
Centerpieces change constantly depending on the month/season. I love changing it up.

One of my favorite winter tablecloths is a blue snowman one from Martha Stewart's K-Mart collection many many years ago. I always use it in the winter time and it gets lots of compliments. It's so cute.
