on your dining room table? If so, what does it look like?
Do you have a rug under your table? Do they match?
TIA

Only during the holidays snd I switch colors based on the season and mood. So it doesn’t match the rug.

No, never.
I think they’re old fashioned (remind me of my great grandma) and that’s not the look I’m going for. I also just think they’re really inconvenient - constantly moving around, getting wrinkles, etc.
It’s so much faster to wipe the table quickly with a wet cloth than to wash a tablecloth.
No rug. I like rugs and carpet in general, but bathrooms, kitchens, and finding rooms are places that, to me, should always be hard floors for fast cleanup.

When the boys were young, we had a vinyl one. Now, no table cloths at all.

No, neither, with the exception of Christmas when I’ll buy something disposable and festive.

We got a piece of glass made to custom fit our Scandinavian table. Protects the table while letting us enjoy the pretty wood. We'll use cloths for formal dinners, holidays, or parties.

No, never. No rug under our dining table either.
I do sometimes put a lazy Susan in the table, good for charcuterie board meals. No set centerpiece…but often flowers or a flowering plant.

sometimes to a table cloth - we use placemats the rest of the time, no to a rug
not usually a centre piece but I do have mid-century modern Danish teak lazy susan with small glass bowls around the perimeter and a spot in the middle for a big serving bowl - we use it for curry or salad but it doesn't stay on the table full-time

No to tablecloth. I uncrossed and crossed my legs once and almost pulled my dinner into my lap with the tablecloth. Maybe I’m just uncoordinated.
We use placemats and have a rug. They do match (gray and white, different patterns) but we don’t keep the placemats out when we’re not eating. The rug is amazingly easy to clean if we drop something, which is almost never. We’re way past the food on the floor stage.
We have a big glass Ball canning jar filled with lavender in the center of the table. It gets moved while we eat.

I use a tablecloth if we are eating, it is a floral water color print from Kate Spade. It stays folded up in the linen closet when not in use. My dining room table is a beautiful handmade wooden table that my grandfather made in the 1930s so I want to protect it as much as possible when we use the table.
I keep an engraved wooden tray with leather handles on top of the table and a woven basket on top of that tray.
ETA : We do not have a rug. Unless you count the very aesthetically pleasing beach towel that we put under my son’s high chair.

Yes I always have a tablecloth on the table. Helps protect it.
It is grey and white.
We have carpet so no rug.
During fall, Halloween, and Christmas I have a seasonal tablecloth on.
Majority are felt backed vinyl. Exception is Christmas Day, Thanksgiving day and Halloween night. Those are fabric.

No. It is not a style I prefer. My mom used them and my MIL currently does. I typically only see them in older people’s homes. Besides not liking the look, it just seems like a lot of extra work to keep it clean, wash it -and iron (which I hate) so no thanks.

I have no rug under my table. I think that's just asking for food spillage. I do keep a tablecloth on my table. Although I recently bought some placemats and right now we have placemats on the table. I strip the table when we use it. I have cats that like to get up on the table so I never feel like my tablecloth is clean. When I'm serving dinner, I take it off and disinfect the table before setting it.
My tablecloth is a simple hippie tapestry. My house is very 1960s so it keeps with that theme

I don't have a dining room. Just a kitchen table. No tablecloth, no rug.
I have a beautiful tablecloth by Baba crocheted for me for my wedding. It's not my style to have something like that on the table. I think maybe when the kids are gone and I have a spare room I'll put it on top of the bed. She went to so much work for it. She had a plastic tablecloth that had "stitches" so she used that as her pattern and ripped it apart so many times to get it right. She then borrowed it back to copy it to make one for my cousin's wedding.
Centerpiece: Daily has been a wooden painted bowl from Mexico for the past few years. Fresh flowers when I have them. At Christmas I put a doily my Baba crocheted, it's white with 2 rounds of red and green variegated thread and I'll put something seasonal on top of it.

We have a sort of country style kitchen table made from old reclaimed wood and from time to time use a tablecloth . I like stripes or florals that I used to get from Cath Kidston years ago ( but I don’t like her later stuff ) I also like a few tablecloths and tea towels from Greengate . I love Susie Watson stuff too especially her crockery.

No tablecloth, except for holidays. We had a pice of glass cut for our table though, so it’s easy to clean, and the beautiful wood doesn’t get messed up. No rug under the table, although I think it would look good since we have tile flooring throughout. I think it might get messy with food around though. Also, we are lazy and like to slide chairs out easily.

I only have a kitchen table but I would only use a table cloth for a special occasion. My mother in law has table cloths and fabric place mats but they’re always dirty with crusted food. Makes my stomach turn. Although I do appreciate a pretty tablecloth and place settings.

Thanks Peas! My floor is very dark and the table is dark. I was thinking of breaking it up with a rug with some color. I'm really an old hippie at heart. My style is eclectic or bohemian. But sometimes it get to be to much. milocat I would love something like that! How precious! I love having things in my home that my loved ones have given me.

I have a tablecloth but only because I have a glass top table that has a big chunk broken. The glass to replace it costs more than I paid for the whole table. So I taped all the big pieces together as best as I could and threw a table cloth on it. It's good enough for now. It's a light tan, linen style with some white design through the middle. I don't have a matching rug under the table.

I love the look of tablecloths but they are not practical for me ... I have two cats and fabric attracts cat hair I also have no carpet or rugs anymore because one of my cats likes to pee on them ... awesome.

I hope you don't have to deal with many invitations to dine there. My MIL used to lick her fingers while cooking & dishing up, and then topped it by chewing with her mouth open.

We do have a rug under our table, but no tablecloth. We use placemats to keep the table in good shape. I don’t particularly care for tablecloths, and they wouldn’t work with our table anyway, since it is an elliptical shape.

We almost never use a tablecloth, only occasionally on holidays but oftentimes not even then. No centerpiece either unless you count a Longaberger basket with paper napkins in it. And no to the rug also. With dogs in the house it just serves to collect dust and dog hair which is already the bane of my existence.

We have a formal dining room and right now we don't have a table cloth on it. I do have several for different seasons. Our eat in kitchen does not have a table cloth. Neither area has a rug.

No rugs. I use table cloths on my kitchen table and dining room table. I have a bunch of them from a French linen shop in New Orleans. They protect the table and look pretty. Every time we go back to the French Quarter, I end up buying another one or some more napkins or placemats.

We use a tablecloth all the time. I have a collection of vintage clothes from the 50's and 60's that I use mostly. I have a few other solid ones and one I made. Dh doesn't like placemats and would inevitably put his glass directly on the table so cloths worked best. I do have a rug underneath. The cloths do not always match the rug. Last week I had a blue and white cloth on there with red check napkins for the 4th of July which did not match my rug. If company is coming, I put on a cloth that coordinates.
