I butter a row at a time and salt. Row at a time. My brother butters and salts the whole ear.
I had forgotten this til dinner time. One of my quirks.

I just throw an entire stick of butter on a plate and then everyone rolls their ear along the top of it. When dinner is over I throw away the remainder of the stick.

Butter and salt the whole thing at once. But I might have to reapply to some places as I get to the end. 😄

I take a pat of butter and run it along all of the corn then follow with salt and pepper.

I have a cube of butter in the refrigerator that I use to butter DH's corn-on-the-cob. He's a lot more liberal with the butter than I am so I do it for him. I just slide it along the entire cob, turning as I go. I don't eat it any more since it spikes my sugar.

All at once. Lots of salt and lots of butter.
My mom used to say that "a sign of good corn on the cob, was the amount of butter dripping off your fingers"!

I run the butter over the whole cob, row by row ... turning it as I go ... I use plastic cob "handles" Then I do the same with the salt ... there must be salt!

I don’t do this, but went to a friend’s house and they slather a piece of bread with butter and roll the cob over the bread (imagine cupping the bread in palm and rolling the cob). Seems pretty efficient at covering the entire cob in butter.

Heavily! LOL
There is a sweet corn festival close to me. They have a giant pot of melted butter. They dip the ear in it, and hand it to you. Mmmm...
We don't grow any sweetcorn anymore. It is a lot of work to keep the raccoons and other critters out. Electric fences at several heights, and they still find a way in! One of my friends raises it to sell, and I just buy my freezer corn from him now! He picks it and brings it to me right out of the field! Woof -- that is one busy day when that comes! Tastes great all winter!

I put butter into a corn holder and everyone rolls their corn in it, evenly coating the cob. Then salt your own corn. I don't add salt to much but I like my version of heavily salted on corn.

I very rarely eat corn on the cob (too messy…..I also don’t eat ribs or chicken wings) but if I do I butter the whole ear at once. I’ve never seen anyone butter one area at a time.

I butter and salt the whole thing and then add more butter and salt along the way. Once a year, I use mayo instead of butter. Sounds really weird, but it’s delicious. A friend made me try it years ago, said it was a Pennsylvania dutch thing.

I butter and salt the whole ear at once - we use the little corn dishes to make it easier to catch the drips and re-apply as needed.
...and now I'm hungry for corn-on-the-cob!! mmmm...

I put the butter in the corn dish and let the corn melt the butter. Then roll the corn in the butter (yes, I have corn dishes and yes, I do also have corn holders!)

I butter and salt the whole thing. If I remember to use it, I have a little plastic gadget that holds a partial stick of butter and lets you roll the corn against it. Otherwise I just stab a piece of butter with a fork and cover it that way.

Seems pretty efficient at covering the entire cob in butter. DH does this with a slice of bread and then eats the bread. It's a great method, but I would end up wasting the bread. I just use a knife and spread butter over the whole cob.

Because of TMJ, I have to cut the corn off but I've never buttered it. I love corn as is.

I just throw an entire stick of butter on a plate and then everyone rolls their ear along the top of it. When dinner is over I throw away the remainder of the stick. I didn't do this until I met my DH. We do it whenever we're with his family but if we're home and it's just us, I have to have my "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray with salt. My younger DD is the same way.

We have a corn field near us that puts a table out and you gi and grab corn and leave money. We eat fish corn almost daily once it starts being done so that would be a lot of butter to throw away

I cut off a portion of a stick of butter with the wrapper still on and swipe over all of the ear of corn, then salt.

I just LOVE corn on the cob! I usually just put out a stick of soft butter and a butter knife and let people go to town! Also, If you are not putting this seasoning on your corn, you are missing out! It is amazing! Chef Paul Prudhomme's Magic Salmon Seasoning

How do I do it: I take a pat if butter and rub that over the kernels with a knife. No salt. My favorite way to eat it is at an event where they roast the corn , peel the husk down to use as a handle, and dip the entire ear in a container of melted butter. If you don’t butter the entire cob at once doesn’t it get cold and it won’t melt the butter?

I don’t care how the whole ear gets buttered as long as it does, then Inpepper it heavily, add a little salt and eat it like that. My favorite corn on the cob is the stuff they sell at the state fair that is roasted, dipped in a giant vat of melted butter, then they hand it to you to put the salt and pepper on yourself. It’s the best ever that way.

Butter and salt the whole thing at one time. Just a pat of butter on a butter knife and rubbed over the cob. Then salt. Dh eats his plain.
