I realized while reading this that because it's summer and the farms are in full swing, I haven't done a full grocery shop for about a month. I'm going between farmer's markets for produce and cheese and just buying a few things at the store when we run low. One store didn't have peanut butter last month but I found it at a different store. Costco only had two pallets of toilet paper yesterday as opposed to the six or seven brands they usually carry. DD's cold brew coffee has been hard to find.

The mind boggles! I'd be trying to get mustard seed or powder and making attempts at making it myself! It's all sold out, ghislaine ! All gone, even most of the seed and powder. The 2021 French and Canadian harvests were bad. Things are about to get worse with Russia no longer delivering mustard seed either. It's just the French noticing for now because the consumption over here is so high. You can still find some Dijon mustard in neighbouring European countries but their stocks are bound to run out as well eventually. I'm not joking. The rest of the world will suffer the mustard seed shortage fate later down the line. The global prices are about to climb significantly for this commodity. We're crossing our fingers the upcoming autumn harvest in France and Canada will be ok. Until then, pas de moutarde.
There was plenty of dijon at the store when I made a grocery run today. I bought 3 containers (it was on sale too!) because I cook with it, in addition to using it on sandwiches.

Cornstarch! Who knew? ? I finally had the itch to bake (my Nana's NY cheesecake) and needed cornstarch. No Publix store or Aldi near me had cornstarch. My Instacart person finally got it for me in the Dollar General (phew!).
No word on any other shortage here yet.

Baby formula still, though thankfully I'm able to find it occasionally and grab several containers at a time
Baby wash (at least at Walmart in 2 states 7 hours apart so ??)
Smaller packages of diapers in any size (again, at Walmart. They only have the mega size boxes and my baby is about to size up so don't want 180 diapers he might not get to wear before he outgrows them)
(disclaimer - I do generally dislike Walmart but it's the only big box store in our town so it's our only option outside of driving an hour to Target)
Tampons - not a single box of any absorbency in any brand 2 weeks ago
Cornstarch
Various spices. I noticed there was zero bottles of garlic powder on the shelf in any brand. Other empty spots but unsure what spices were supposed to be there.

Low carb bread-haven’t been able to buy our brand in over a month.
Propane-cannot find any refilled tanks for the grill. I first thought Father’s day and then July 4 caused a shortage locally? I hope we can find some soon because no grilling for us until we do.

You know the rules ~~~ recipe for the NY Cheesecake. I don't have one that uses cornstarch. Does the top crack or is it really smooth. Please share

Haven't seen Dijon mustard in France since April. April. Not one pot. I tried a German mustard. It was disgusting (sorry, German Peas). At this stage, there's not a single pot of mustard left here. Nothing. If you know someone visiting from the US, see if they will bring you some. Not sure which brand you use but we can still get Edmond Fallot, Maille, and Pommery on Amazon. No Amora though. You could order from Amazon US, but I would think the shipping would be prohibitive.

Went to the store yesterday to get a few sale items (Albertson's). While just walking about I noticed:
Lunchables were almost completely gone (school hasn't started yet)
No tater tots (but all other Ore-Ida potato products) FYI these were on sale 2/$5. Haven't seen that sale in a long time. Gosh I remember pre covid 2/$4. Oh and no sticker for them.
Few empty spots for soda. Can't remember which ones. We don't drink it but just saw the holes.
That is all I noticed.
Chicken, other meats, produce, cereals, chips, water, cleaning products, spices and herbs, baking items, pads, tampons, etc have all been well stocked at local stores to Me.
There is a tampon shortage though in some areas. Guess it hasn't gotten here yet 🤷♀️
Spices/herbs were low or out in the spring here.

Oh and to prep for fall I buy 2 cans of pumpkin every week.
We go through about 1 can a week in fall/winter for various things I bake.
Don't want to run into no canned pumpkin again.

Ground black pepper. Couldn’t find any in my stores due to crop failure. Have been using ground cayenne as a sub.
Eggs. I’m not sure exactly what’s going on but the supply of eggs in my stores is dwindling. The prices on some have also skyrocketed to $4/doz! I went to Aldi and eggs there were half that price.
The shelf for sugar was also almost empty.
I make my own hummus and noticed chickpeas are in short supply.
I buy rice from a Korean store and noticed there are gaps in shelves; have not been able to get my brand, Botan, for a long time now.
I don’t buy veg during growing season because I garden, but I’ve noticed less varieties and quantities now in some stores.

Thank you! Hadn't been able to find it online either - got a couple of bags! Mine has been dog food. We feed our dogs "old man dog food" - a specific formula for older dogs and it's been hit or miss. I have had to order from Target's app and pick it up at which ever store has it closest to us. I used to pick it up at the grocery store or when I was already at Target - it was already on the shelf, now it's a deal to locate it. Is it this one? We’ve struggled to find it for months. Looks like Amazon actually has it in stock at the moment but I’ve got two bags stockpiled now, so… (It’s the only decent quality food my dogs will eat without having to be bribed with human food on top.)

Ground black pepper. Couldn’t find any in my stores due to crop failure. Have been using ground cayenne as a sub. Have you tried Penzey's pepper? They have it in stock and it's very good. My favorite is the coarse ground Tellicherry, but they have lots of other choices.

Ground black pepper. Couldn’t find any in my stores due to crop failure. I buy from The Spice House and they have some. Also seems to be plenty on Amazon.

Foster Farms turkey hot dogs. Normally I wouldn’t care and I’d just get a different brand but they are the only ones my son will eat and I like having them on hand for an any easy lunch option for him.

I haven't seen Jenni-O turkey hot dogs in months. I have to go to my Target to get Oscar Meyer Natural Turkey dogs as that is the only store that has them.

There was an issue with the potatoes from PEI, Canada and the USA wouldn't allow them into your country. They were giving away 10lb bags of potatoes this spring. Always have been able to get frozen potatoes in many forms, hashbrown patties, tater tots, french fries and really cheap, like $1.97 a bag for sweet potato fries or regular fries.
