I have close to three months before my prescriptions need renewal, not birth control related, from Walgreens. NJ is not on the list, but I am considering changing pharmacies. However, if the other chains join them, it won't matter much.
Not happy about what Walgreens is doing!!!

Do any Texas peas know if the HEB pharmacy is going along with this fascist nonsense? I still need to move my prescriptions from Walgreens but am not sure of the best choice. From what I have heard, it all depends on who the pharmacist that sees the prescription, as to whether or not they will fill it. But as a company, no. I dont think there is a ban on it. Also, have you been following the federal case here in Amarillo? If the judge here sides with the Plaintiffs, mifepristone will be yanked for all markets, immediately. Knowing the judge on this case, I think its very likely that he will side with them.I thought this was supposed to be ruled on last week - any idea when it will be decided?

From what I read, last Friday was the earliest the decision would come down, but it actually hasnt came down yet.

If a person has a religious objection to birth control, I dont have an issue with that, however, when you work in a place that sells birth control, you should expect to ring it up.
That being said, if the company allows for this, there needs to be a written policy that must be followed and it cannot inconvenience or embarrass the customer.

I hope more blue states push back. Not happy with how Walgreens caved to the Republicans, especially in states where abortion is still legal. www.npr.org/2023/03/07/1161590750/california-walgreens-mifepristone-abortion-pillLast week, Walgreens said it will not distribute abortion pills in states where Republican officials have threatened legal action. Now a blue state says it will cut ties with the pharmacy giant because of the move."California won't be doing business with @walgreens – or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women's lives at risk," Gov. Gavin Newsom wrote in a tweet yesterday with a link to news coverage of Walgreen's decision."We're done," he added.www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/03/07/walgreens-mifepristone-gop-attorneys-general-democrats-abortion/Republicans are not shy these days about threatening state retribution against the private sector to force it to fall in line with their cultural agenda. But what happens when this threat is a largely empty one — yet private companies bow to GOP demands anyway? Last week, Walgreens decided not to dispense the abortion pill mifepristone in 21 states. This came after GOP attorneys general tacitly threatened legal action against the pharmacy giant, even though it’s not remotely clear they have real grounds for any such threat. In essence, Republicans shouted, “Boo!” And Walgreens jumped. Now some Senate Democrats say they will begin to escalate pressure on Walgreens from the other side: They are insisting Walgreens has no rationale for capitulating to GOP intimidation and are hinting at action of their own in response.
What’s more, in a handful of the states in question, abortion remains legal, yet their GOP attorneys general are still levying these threats. Why would Walgreens capitulate in those places?

Knowing the judge on this case, I think its very likely that he will side with them. Yeah, I’m aware. But at least I won’t be giving money to a company that enables religious fascism. I just don’t see how this is constitutional - for a religious group to petition for a ban on an FDA-approved drug for everyone based on their own religious objections. Of course, we can’t expect the current SCOTUS to help at all with that, either, so I guess we’re just doomed. I understand that pro-choice groups in Texas are looking at what can be sourced in Mexico if necessary. They’re already helping women get there for abortions when it’s more expedient than the nearest pro-choice state. How long until the goons in charge yank every woman’s passport?

I cannot imagine that this is what our founders had in mind when establishing the judiciary. I thought they weren't supposed to "legislate from the bench," but to leave that up to Congress.

How do they know that they are using the pills for birth control? Birth control pills are used for other medical reason not just pregnancy prevention. Do you have to have a Rx for condoms in the US? Crikey, they sell condoms on the supermarket shelves here in the UK. PCOS, & endometriosis for starters.

Religion is going to ruin this country. Religion is going to ruin the world. There I fixed it for you. most of the world's atrocities have been committed in the name of one religion or another. If not in the name of then against one.
