Spin off - What is your favorite breakfast? At home and at a restaurant? At home: I usually have an multigrain English muffin and a cup of hot tea. I used to have a flavored (sweet....orange, chocolate chip or chocolate) muffin or a cinnamon roll, but watching my sugar.....so eliminated that. At a restaurant: Bacon Home fries Biscuits and gravy So fattening and delicious!

At home, I like to have a frittata w/mushrooms, leeks, goat cheese, and tomatoes with some fresh fruit
At a restaurant, I like a traditional american breakfast (eggs, grits, bacon and toast) or chilaquiles verdes topped with a fried egg.

We aren’t big breakfast people.
We don’t like mornings.
We mostly just have protein shakes at home so we just have to grab it and open it. We always take them on vacation as well.
No hotel buffet drama for us.

At home: I eat around 10am usually. It’s a smashed avocado on one slice of Dave’s thin sliced bread, topped with a fried egg and hot sauce.
Restaurant- a fancy omelette or if I’m feeling less healthy I love a good corned beef hash with fried egg.

I usually have 2 packs of instant oatmeal. If I'm getting them from a hotel buffet, is it selfish and greedy to take both packs at once? ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

At a place that serves Hawaiian style breakfasts, I like scrambled eggs, rice and Portuguese sausage. At other places, I like pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. I like scrambled eggs.
At home, on weekends, I’ll sometimes make pancakes and scrambled eggs. If I am off to work, I have either cottage cheese or yogurt, with toast.

At home, I like smashed avocado with goat cheese and chilli, on Turkish bread, with a poached egg and streaky bacon.
When I go out, I like something a bit more fancy than plain old bacon and eggs. My favourite local cafe has a seasonal menu. I like to go at least once a season to try the different dishes. The current seasonal dish is smashed avocado, wholemeal loaf, finger lime, burnt olive and sumac labneh, strawberry and balsamic vignette, shaved fennel, pine nut cluster, poached egg.

I eat the same breakfast every day at home. Coffee, 2 scrambled eggs and half a grapefruit. Restaurant breakfast is eggs over easy, bacon, and toast with gobs of butter.

At home I don’t really eat breakfast, just a smoothie, yogurt or a banana.
When we go out it is either smoked salmon eggs Benedict or chicken and waffles for me. I don’t like to order things I can cook at home, and as much as I love both those dishes they are not worth the hassle for me to make for myself.

at a restaurant - Eggs Benedict,
at home - I'm struggling - I was eating two boiled eggs with a toasted English muffin and jam - but all of a sudden, I got sick of that and can't figure out anything that appeals to me.
ETA - always 2 cups of coffee with cream before any food!

At a restaurant, I always look for Eggs Benedict. The classic or any variation.
At home I often have plain Greek yogurt with honey, walnuts, and maybe some berries or a few chocolate chips.
I’m not a creature of habit, though. I love breakfast foods and eat whatever sounds good at the moment.

I’ve never been a breakfast eater. If we do go out for breakfast I will eat an omelet.

My favorite at home is cold smoked sockeye salmon on a bed of baby spinach, topped with a poached egg and sometimes avocado.
At a restaurant… varies. I’m gluten-free and eat fairly low-carb so that eliminates a lot traditional breakfast foods. I like to get vegetables in at every meal, so ideally some kind of scramble or frittata with a bunch of vegetables. Omelets are usually too huge.

At home: potatoes O'Brian and bacon
Restaurant: smothered potatoes - potatoes O'Brian covered in white sausage gravy.
Before my egg allergy it was pancakes at home and Belgium waffle or biscuits and gravy out.

I’m not a breakfast eater typically—just coffee or tea with heavy cream. If we’re traveling I like a DD sesame bagel with cream cheese. Restaurant brunch I’ll do a bacon, cheddar and avocado omelette with rye toast or a salad with some protein…and convince someone else to order something sweet so I can have 2 bites.

At home, most of the time I have some kind of whole grain cereal with milk (Quaker oat squares, shredded wheat, oatmeal, etc.). On the rare occasion DH will want waffles so I make them for all of us. We like ours with real maple syrup but DD prefers whipped cream on hers.
At a restaurant I will almost always get French toast with maple syrup.

I rarely have breakfast, but since you asked about favorites:
- at home it is scrambled eggs with spinach and feta served in a warm croissant
- at a restaurant, I will pick one of the Bennys

At home - I usually have cheerios of some sort. My favorite at home breakfast is an omelette, made with bacon and whatever cheese I have.
At a restaurant - home fries with sausage gravy and bacon. Or, French toast, with lots of powdered sugar.

Restaurant - Huevos rancheros or eggs Benedict.

I’ll make a latte around 8 a.m. and won’t make food until 10. If I have good avocado, I’ll make a basic avocado toast. If not, then I’ll just have the southwestern egg beaters with a bit of cheese. At a restaurant, it’s usually a veggie omelette.

I don’t enjoy cooking one little bit, so there is no way I am going to cook anything for breakfast. Every morning I have 3 “corn thins” - sort of like crackers, about 2.5 inches round - with cottage cheese on top of each. But it has to be the right brand of cottage cheese. The one I buy has nice firm, dryish curds; I will not eat wet slimy cottage cheese. Restaurant or cafe breakfast is anything that someone else cooks. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I have never had a waffle, but they look and sound like a dessert to me, not breakfast; the ones with maple syrup anyway. What do you have for protein at breakfast, if you have waffles? Hmmm….. now I m wondering what I’ve been missing out on……..

They’re made with essentially the same ingredients as waffles but waffles are made in an iron so they have a more crispy texture. And yes, generally waffles, and pancakes, are eaten with butter and maple syrup.

They’re made with essentially the same ingredients as waffles but waffles are made in an iron so they have a more crispy texture. And yes, generally waffles, and pancakes, are eaten with butter and maple syrup. Hahaha, you’re asking a New Zealander if we have pancakes - of COURSE we have pancakes. We LOOOOVE pancakes. Of course there is the wee matter that the rest of the world calls our pancakes “crepes” (except Australia, they have same sort of ‘pancakes’ as we do). That is changing though, so that it’s currently a bit confusing - ask for pancakes and you might get something like what you call pancakes or you might get thin crepes, usually folded into quarters & sprinkled with lemon juice & sugar. And make things even more confusing, I understand that your pancakes are bigger versions of what we call pikelets. And what people in UK call pikelets is what we call crumpets. I guess I’m just going to have to save my pennies & visit USA so I can have some genuine waffles & pancakes. And see if there’s a difference between your biscuits & our scones. And try pumpkin pie. And I will need to visit UK of course, so I can check out their pikelets & crumpets. I’ll have to throw in Canada (for poutine - not sure if I like the sound of that or not) And Scotland for haggis. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)
