I prefer to use a plate and real utensils.
If I am at work, on rare occasion... I will pick up take out. Usually fried rice (eat from container with plastic fork) or a burger and fries (put it on top of a paper towel). In the car, eating on the go (very rarely...only if I am starving), I usually get a milkshake or fries..... just a little something to sustain me.

For most things I prefer to put on a plate. I also use fork and knife on most things, including pizza. The only exception is I tend to eat seafood/fish take out from the container they come in. And soups. I eat those in their original containers.
If we were doing take out for some place away from home it would probably be more out of containers but also paper plates. I could eat Lo mein/fried Rice out of a container but I would want a curry chicken or cashew chicken on a plate so I could have it with white rice.

Hah! I’ve always noticed that, too. I love the idea of sitting around with some chopsticks and a perfectly clean container of lo mein that’s not dripping all over me. But alas, I put everything on a plate.

Depends a lot on what it is and where it’s from. The Chinese place we usually get stuff to go from is a buffet so each of us gets a divided foam container that we put our own choices into so we would eat right out of that. If we were getting Chinese from anywhere else, we would possibly share entrées so those would be plated. When we get takeout from Raising Cane’s, we’ll eat right out of the box it comes in. DH eats the whole thing, DD and I share so I tear the top off for one of us and the other eats out of the bottom. We don’t get takeout from too many places, we’re more inclined to get fast food than order takeout from a restaurant a person would normally go in and eat there.

It depends on what I get. If it's my fav Chinese, and I get fried rice and one or 2 other dishes, that gets put on a plate because I like mixing it. If it's just a single serve, I eat it straight from the container. If it's something like Subway or a pie, it's straight from the container or wrapper.

I will eat single-serving takeout from the container, but anything else goes on a plate. If I have leftovers, I don't want to have been eating from them directly.

95% we would put on another plate. I think there are a few times we would eat out of the to-go container... but no that would not be the norm.

I use a plate - I can only eat about half of it for a meal, and I put the rest of it in a covered glass container for lunch the next day!

Depends.
Chinese food is frequently a larger portion so we all shared - which means it gets out in a plate. Even now that I’m mostly living alone I still fish out the portion on a plate and save the rest.
Left over or single portion takeout I mostly eat right from the container. Why make more dishes.

If it is my own personal dish I will eat it out of the container if it is single serve or I think I will finish it all. However, things like french fries where the container is sketchy I will use a plate.
Having said this, I haven't seen any chinese food in those old boxes in a long time, aside from white rice.
