Earlier I left the house to do some errands. I got one block away and my watch buzzed at me to tell me that my phone had been left behind. I actually went back to get it. Thank you Watch. lol. And did I need to use the phone at all while I was gone? nope. And I'm sure I wouldn't have gone back for it if I'd been farther away, although I guess that would depend if I knew I was going to need it. But mostly I feel like I'm not completely dressed if I go out without it. And I laugh at myself for it because I'm old enough to remember the days of only corded phones, and when we were teens we had to stretch the phone into the closet in order to have any privacy. And now here I am with this cell phone attached to me. lol And even funnier to me is the fact that I rarely actually talk on it. I text, google, play games, and even read on it if I'm desperate (i.e., if I've forgotten my Kindle, another gadget that was unknown in my youth). lol What about you?

I do. I have a 16 yr old who has just been allowed to start driving herself. AND a 17 yr old spec needs son. I like to be reachable in case of an emergency.

Well, I usually have it on me, but I rarely turn the sound on. It's there for my convenience.

I always take my phone everywhere. I also always have all sounds and notifications off (to my husband’s annoyance!). I take it for my convenience- if I break down on the side of the road I’m going to want my phone! Also it has shopping lists on it or I might need to google something or use maps- tons of things. Plus I want my camera on it. I look at my phone often enough that anyone calling or texting doesn’t need to wait long for a reply even though the sound is off.

Absolutely.
To me, the biggest reason to have a cell phone is if you need it in an emergency,
I’ve needed it when my car wouldn’t start, when I got a flat tire, when someone in my family has a medical emergency, to let me know there’s a tornado warning when I’m out of the house and wouldn’t have known otherwise.
I haven’t left home without a phone since I was 12. I’ve never driven a car without a phone.

Before I leave the house, checking for my phone is something I always do. Phone and keys. I’ll check for my phone before I check for my wallet. 😆

I always have my phone when I leave the house and it's almost always near me when I am inside the house.

I try not to but lots of times I need it: it has my todo list, my contacts, I like to take photos, I need directions, I know I'll have to wait and want to read, it has coupons I don't want to print out.... They sure know how to make you dependent on it.
When I go out to eat with my husband or friends and I'm not driving, I always leave it at home. I don't want to lose it and I am there to talk, not look at my phone.

I do. Mostly because I don’t carry a purse or wallet. I have a little card holder built into my phone cover. I also like to hear good music, so I have varying apps/playlists on at any given time, whether I’m in the car or walking the dog.

I do. My husband and dd both freak out if I don't answer/respond to a text. Even if all three of us are out together, I still take it as habit. And entertainment.
That said I despise talking on the phone and almost never answer calls unless it's those two or my mother. Everyone else that I know personally knows I don't talk, you better message me etc!
I have all notifications turned off except calls and texts from everybody but dd and dh. I despise notifications.

I do, but it stays in my purse unless I need to use it. I don't have it in my hand everywhere I go. That annoys me to no end seeing people do that.

Yes! It feels weird to not have it.
I do take lots of photos, even at work (for checking in shipments).

I do. On the odd chance that I don’t have it on me, it feels weird but I try to let that feeling go and just be without it.

I do. I'm single and need to have it with me in case I got in a fix!
I also have Find my Friends and share with family and friends so they know where I am should a need arise. They do the same for me.

I do. After 25 years of owning a cell phone, I have finally learned to take it with me everywhere. I used to leave it in the car whether at home or somewhere else.
I check before I leave the house now if I have keys, purse and phone. Use the phone for navigation, checking info on stores/products, taking photos. Use the hands free feature to accept and make phone calls. Dh often texts me when I am in town to pick up something for him.

I take mine everywhere with me. I allow very few notifications so it doesn't typically make annoying noises. If it rings, I'll silence it if I'm in public and call the person back in a bit - especially if I'm being waited on in a store or service area. But I do like having it with me.

I always check my pockets or bag for my phone before I walk out the door. My dad leaves the house without his phone all of the time and it drives us all nuts. What’s the point of having a phone if you’re not going to take it with you?
I keep all of my lists for errands and appointments on my phone so I need it to keep my head screwed on.

I always have mine with me, and it feels really weird on the off chance that I do forget it. I feel a bit panicky, like "what if I get lost or something, and I don't have any way of contacting anyone?!?" I'm also old enough to remember land lines with cords, so never having any way to contact anyone when you were out and about, besides a pay phone.
For the longest time, I only had a flip phone- My DH asked me if I wanted an iPhone, but I always said 'what would I need it for, besides making phone calls?' Then a few years ago, he finally talked me into getting a smart phone. Making phone calls with it is probably the least often used feature, lol.

I love my smart watch for this reason! Even if I'm late I still turn around to go back home to get my phone. The one time I didn't feel my watch buzz I was "only) going to the mall to watch a movie. I felt weird without it and a little nervous because it was during the school year, but the schools have DHs info too so I wasn't panicked. I just didn't stay in the area after the movie to do something like run to Trader Joe's.
So yes, I take it everywhere. Not just so I can be in contact with someone, but because I use my phone to keep track of notes & thoughts I want to write down before I forget.

I like to have my phone w/ me in case of an emergency. Also, I have the Kindle app on my phone, so if I'm waiting somewhere I can pull my phone out and read.

I take mine everywhere. (iPhone and cellular Apple Watch). I’m a senior citizen that grew up with rotary dial, party-line telephones. Telecommunications has come a very long way. Why not take advantage of it? There have been many times over the years, looking back, what I wouldn’t have given to have had the luxury of having a cell phone for a family emergency including accidents, deaths and extreme critical illnesses. Currently, I am the main contact for my grandson because both of his parents work in opposite directions 45 minutes from where we are. My older sister is my only surviving family and she has a husband that has dementia. My DH still works and frequently runs errands for his job. I have health and vision issues, so he likes to be able to keep track of me and I like to be able to get a hold of him if I need to. In addition to all of that, my phone is also where all of my contacts, calendar, lists, email and of course photos are located. I text far more than use it as a phone. We have a verbal “check list” we go through before leaving the house, asking each other do you have - your ring, watch, cell phone, sunglasses and wallet/purse. Car keys used to be on the list, but now we both drive cars that you’re not going anywhere if you don’t have the key fob. Ha. I know a few older people that are very proud of the fact they don’t have cells phones, or if they do have them, they refuse to turn them on or use them.

I always have my phone with me if I’m outside of the house. It’s just habit now to make sure I have it. My husband on the other hand……I have to remind him to take it and even then he sometimes doesn’t turn it on!! 😳

Always have the phone near me and take it whenever leaving the house. It seems that most people do these days.
Funny anecdote - dh's 88 year old aunt was visiting our state so we traveled an hour to go have dinner with her. I was so surprised that she had her iphone sitting at the table and would check it from time to time. She even showed us some photos on it. When we were done with dinner she had our server take a photo. After dinner we went out to our car to leave and she had already posted the photo on her FB story. I was totally impressed with her tech savy! My parent are younger than her and will not touch a cell phone.

Yes. It comes in handy with my two kids. At any given time ds' school could call for a medical emergency or dd can call for her own. I need to be reached at all times.

My phone is always with me when I leave the house.
It is mostly on silent mode and I check it between errands, etc., to see if I need to respond to anything.

My phone lives in my car. I try to remember to move it to my pocket if I'm out when there's a kid in school, camp, etc., just in case someone is trying to get in touch with me. But I don't always succeed. Sometimes I get back to my car, see the phone, and cross my fingers that no one was trying to call. (I do, of course, always give others contacts to schools, camps, classes, so if I mess up there are back-up people that can be called.)
If my family is home or if we're all out together, we tend to still leave the phone in the car. I bought my 1st cell phone strictly for car/driving emergencies back in the 90s when it was like a little miniature brick that I didn't want to have in my purse, weighing it down. And I just never moved away from that habit.

Not really, no. I do have it when I am commuting to and from work. Usually if I'm out running errands. But other than that it's typically in my purse and I don't think to carry it around with me all the time.

All the time. Honestly, it's probably a bad habit to some extent. At work, we do use them amongst our teams if a student is having a meltdown somewhere in the building and additional support is needed.

I never leave home without it. After forgetting a couple times years and years ago, it is now automatic habit to check my purse for it after I turn the car on, when I am leaving home and when I am leaving work.
While my phone is always with me in my purse or nearby when at home or work....but I am not attached to it. I return calls and texts, at my convenience. Someone else's need for instant gratification is not my priority.
There are people who will text or call me, multiple times in a short period of time.......that is not going to make me answer or respond any faster.
The one place I do not take my phone, is the bathroom. I know too many that have accidently dropped their phone in the toilet.
If I am socializing (at someone's home, out somewhere, etc...), my phone remains in my purse. I find it annoying and lacking courtesy, to be out to dinner or at a gathering with someone or others....that are on their phone some or all of the time.
