I'm happy to hear that George and Charlotte will be walking behind the coffin and attending the funeral - their great-grandmother lived a long, happy & successful life, and while many people are sad that she has died - this is no tragedy, it's the inevitable ending to a life well lived. So I think letting them be a part of the rituals that surround death will be healthy for them, plus this is such a big moment in history, they should be a part of it. I have been surprised how many people have said that the children shouldn't be at funerals, I don't agree at all. While normally I don't have an issue with kids being at funerals --- I am glad they have shielded the younger Royals thus far. I've always appreciated how William & Catherine have given the public 'just enough' of the kids without withholding them all together but also not giving so much that the kids are harassed and plastered everywhere. I am glad to see the older Cambridge kids coming, especially with George being a future King. I agree. I know George is a future king, but I am glad they are all being kept out of the spotlight as much as they have been. They are just little kids after all. I am glad the older two are attending the funeral, I think that it is important for them to be there, but I don’t think they needed to have participated in the other events thus far.

Watching the last people file past the coffin in Westminster Hall I was reflecting on it. Apart from its length and the time people waited to pay their respects, the aspects that I noticed was firstly, the silence and secondly, the lack of mobile phones.
Plus the queue organisers got their sums right and the last people were shepherded through on time.
Nice to know unwanted food and blankets were collected by a charity to be distributed to others and not wasted.

If I had to arrive this early to a funeral I’d definitely have to leave to go to the toilet before the funeral began!
It’s going to be an emotional day.

That queue was very well organised and it was great to see no mobile phones in the Hall.

Did you see the young navy rating earlier who said she (and others today) are the first women to pull the gun carriage?

I’m watching on the Beeb. Fergal Keane has a great voice as commentator imho.
It must be quite nerve wracking for everyone attending, no matter how great a statesperson they are.

Just a little bit ago, they showed the Archbishop and the other ministers who will be celebrating the service, and thought the same thing. This is the biggest service of their lives, and they won’t want to make any mistakes. I would be so afraid I’d trip over my own feet walking into the church to my seat.

I’ve not seen some of these Prime Minister’s wives for years! Cherie looked like she was struggling in her shoes! Carrie looks very smart.

UK peas, What's it like where you live?
I've just been out to walk my dog and the place is giving me lockdown vibes, all the cars are parked up, no children, no delivery vans, no postie etc. The only people out are either walking their dogs or riding their horses.
As we went up the hill out past the church, the bells started ring out. My dog did a 180 as he tried to figure out what it was.
A couple of houses had flags at half mast and one had a wreath in red, white and blue.

I’m down in Devon in an Airbnb on a pre arranged weekend away but I haven’t been out. From what I can see from the window it’s very quiet outside despite this being very much a popular spot with visitors normally.
