Oh my! Charlotte’s feet don’t touch the floor. She looks so tiny She does! But I also thought she looked so grown up earlier when I saw her the first time in her hat.

I'm watching "live" on the BBC app on my iPad and you can go back and see the parts you missed. No commentary. I'm about 10 minutes behind real time because I keep pausing to see the detail.

Those little boys in the choir… Are these traditional British hymns? I ask bc it doesn't look like many are singing along, but the choir instead are singing for the service. This fascinates me bc I always found comfort in hymns such as Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, A Mighty Fortress (that may just be a Lutheran song) and On Eagles Wings...

I wonder if the Crown Jewels will accompany the Queen to Windsor or be whisked straight back to the Tower of London! They sparkled beautifully in the Abbey lights.

I know The Lord’s My Shepherd very well as we sang it at school but I don’t know the others. There will be many people in the congregation who aren’t British or Church of England. I also do know this last hymn All Love Divine.

I wonder if the Crown Jewels will accompany the Queen to Windsor or be whisked straight back to the Tower of London! They sparkled beautifully in the Abbey lights. The jewels go to Windsor and there is some symbolism to them From the BBC Attended by a smaller, more personal congregation of about 800 guests, the committal service will be conducted by Dean of Windsor David Conner, with a blessing from Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. The service, whose congregation will be largely made up of current and former staff from the Queen's household and private estates, will include traditions symbolising the end of her reign. The Imperial State Crown and the Sovereign's orb and sceptre will be removed from the top of the coffin by the Crown Jeweller, separating the Queen from her crown for the final time.At the end of the last hymn, the King will then place the Queen's company camp colour, or flag, of the Grenadier Guards on the coffin. The Grenadier Guards are the most senior of the Foot Guards carrying out ceremonial duties for the monarch. At the same time, the Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 chief Baron Parker, will "break" his wand of office and place it on the coffin. The snapping of the white staff will signal the end of his service to the sovereign as her most senior official in the Royal Household. The Queen will then be lowered into the royal vault and the Sovereign's piper will play before a blessing and the singing of God Save the King. The performance by the piper at Windsor was something the Queen had personally requested, Buckingham Palace said.

I think the choir ‘lead’ the congregation but the words will be in the order of service for people to mumble along to. I recognised some of them and haven’t been in a church for decades. Or maybe there are just some parts that just the choir sing - I’m guessing as you can tell 🙂

I have a question. All the posters here say in a snarky way “thoughts and prayers”, how come the queens funeral is full of religion and now it’s ok? Just an honest question?

I don’t understand the question. I’ve never heard “thoughts and prayers” said in a snarky way. The Queen was very religious. She was Head of the Church of England.

We also had to switch off of CNN because they just blather on and on and on. We're at a beach house this week and were having trouble with the TV anyway, so I had put BBC on my laptop. We watched that while my dd messed with the TV until she found BBC through YouTube. darn technology. We missed the very beginning when the heads of state arrived so I'm going to go back later to watch that. I love how the BBC did not put cameras on all the various presidents and prime ministers, which I think detracts from the funeral. We tuned in to see the Queen's service, not to see President Biden or President Whoever. Poor Louis, not invited. Omg, can you imagine? Question for those in the know...I tried to google but didn't have any luck because I was trying to watch the funeral at the same time.... Why do some of the choristers wear red and sit along the aisle, but most of them are wearing white and sit back in the choir area?

That sarcasm might be directed at ineffectual politicians. And what do you mean- and now it’s ok? It’s Her Majesty’s funeral, no one else’s. This doesn’t feel like a genuine question to be honest.

Anyone wondered about Sarah Ferguson? Have to say she never crossed my mind. Just that Andrew is so obviously without a partner. Obviously she wouldn’t be in the main party but I thought she might have been invited to attend in the congregation?

Anyone wondered about Sarah Ferguson? She was there next to Princess Eugenie, she was behind Catherine. She walked in behind the coffin with her daughters. ETA. Her face has changed slightly!

For anyone who doesn’t know the story behind the Navy pulling the coffin.
At Queen Victoria’s funeral the horses pulling the carriage were misbehaving so they had to unhook them. The navy stepped in to continue pulling the coffin and since then it became tradition.
