I have been invited to a wedding on October 8th. Outdoors for a bit, semi formal dress. I have no idea what to wear. I am really self conscious about the top part of my arms and legs, if that makes a difference. (Excess skin in those areas). And I really don't have any thing in my closet that will work.
If it matters, I met my friend, the bride, as seniors in HS. We weren't super duper close, but still close enough her parents know me and credit me for helping ground her that year. (Her Dad's words, not mine). Haven't physically saw her in about 10 years. (We live in different states).

I am always very pleased with the plus size dress selection at David’s Bridal.
My daughter got a very cute dress there for Homecoming.

Check out rent the runway. I had a lot of success there when I was plus sized. Van Mauer or Macy's if you want to buy something

Do you have a nice pair of slacks? I'd probably wear those and then search for a really lovely top. You might even find a tank and jacket-like combo.
I'm not really sure where to recommend you shop. I think torrid has fancier stuff online (like they have wedding dresses so I think they have guest outfits). Catherine's, which I believe is still online, usually has some dressier things, although I think they tend to be "older" looks (which is fine with me because I can't pull off what Lane Bryant is selling). I would also check Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.
But also let me say this: find something you like and feel comfortable in. That will make the outfit work that much better, and I'm sure your friend will be happy to see you regardless.

Check Dillards if you have one. Mine had a bunch of different plus styles in their Women’s department (not in section with reg sized formal wear). I was really surprised. I found a nice dress to wear for my DDs wedding.

I went to a couple weddings this summer as well. Both were outdoors, and the one was my nephew so I wanted to look nicer than just a guest. I wanted to look nice for the family photos. I shopped at Macy’s. Im very self conscious of my arms and legs as well, so I went with a long maxi dress, with a cold shoulder. I loved both options. One was navy with a floral pattern, and the other was an aqua, belted Calvin Klein with cold shoulder. I felt terrific……….something that is hard to come by for me!!!
Happy Shopping!!
