There is an event coming up in my area. Until June of this year, I hadn’t been to any in a few years, and I had missed going. In the past, they listed the vendors. I assume those coming to do workshops will also have a booth, but usually there are booths that don’t do workshops, too. I went to GASC, and it was small. I still managed to spend money, of course, but I was hoping that one particular booth would be at the Expo, and if they are coming, they aren’t doing any workshops. Part of me suspects if the Expo has intentionally left out the vendor list because it’s a small show, and they don’t want customers to see just how small. If there are at least two particular vendors there, I will go, but it’s frustrating that there is no vendor list that I can see, to make sure it’s worth my time as well as the entrance fee. This fall is a crazy busy time, and I’m working around a trip to WDW, among other things.
What do you think of the missing vendor list? Would you go anyway? I will probably email them to ask if the two companies I am most interested in are coming, but I think this approach might backfire. It makes me feel like it probably isn’t worth my time. Thoughts, please?

I am wondering if vendors have not committed yet? Not sure how much time they have to do that. I would email-I think we are going to see more and more of this unfortunately. Even the last one I went to (pre covid) felt tiny.

My friend went in March to our local one and they said there were hardly any vendors there, but that could be because we're in California? But yes, in general over the years, there are less and less vendors selling at the Expo.

back when i used to go, the vendor list was very important. i wanted know if any notable brands would be there and how many vendors would be there. expos were usually an all day thing with the drive, shop and drive back so i wanted to feel like it was worth my time to even go.

scrapnnana I see on the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo main site there is button for Exhibitors & Make and Takes. That is where the vendors are listed. But I know that many vendors have not renewed with Expo because of how they handled (rather did not) refunds when the pandemic started. I've also seen some vendors transition to virtual shows with other companies or on their own and not travel anymore at all.

If the expo wasn't too far away or I was headed that way anyway, I'd go. I do love seeing things in person though.

I wondered if the 2020 Expo fiasco had something to do with the (mostly) unknown vendors doing Make & Takes. Tall Mouse said (at GASC) they were planning to be at the Expo here in October, but I can’t tell if that is actually the case. They had some fun things that were out of stock, and I would totally go to shop at their booth if they’ll be there, because they don’t show everything on their website. I was going to try to call them today, but ran out of time.

I'd be highly dubious about going to a trade show that didn't have a vendor list. That's like buying movie tickets without the cinema telling you what's playing! Since you have your sights set on specific vendors, giving them a call or an e-mail seems like the best path forward. No doubt they'll be happy to let you know if they're attending or not.

There are four more S&SB Expo shows this year, including the one going on now, and the website shows the exhibitors for all of them. scrapbookexpo.com/2022-expo-show-list/Select your show, scroll down a bit and select “Exhibitors and Make and Takes,” and then “Exhibitors.” They respond to emails quickly too, if I’ve mis-read or you have other questions. The contact form is under About Us at the top of the page. Unless something has changed, Cindy will email you. (I was a paid volunteer—all volunteers are paid—several times at the Expo in this area, and the staff is really helpful and friendly. ETA Occasionally vendors will partner—like The Paper Cut hasn’t been shows since the pandemic, but another vendor is displaying some of their products. So it might be worth reaching out to the company itself in case they’ve contracted out to someone else.

I love how you phrased that, and it’s a valid point. In the past, I have found some vendors that I loved, but which I’d never heard of before and probably would never have ever found otherwise. It’s no guarantee, though, that this show would be worth the entrance fee. I went to GASC in June, and the only vendors I bought from were a few established ones. I definitely need to call them and find out if they will be there.

You’re welcome! Their website isn’t the most logical; it’s only because I’ve used it for years I can find things pretty quickly.
Fingers crossed “your” company is there.

You should also check the facebook page for the show you want to attend.
Tall Mouse was at the one in August in NJ.
But there were some listed initially that ended up they couldn't make it, and the updates were provided on FB.
Yes, there is still a whole thing from the issues in 2020, most vendors left and went to CKC.
I still found plenty of things of interest at the smaller vendor show, I actually kind of liked it more. In the past it was always so jam packed and I never did make n takes bcz of lines. This time I was able to do a few and listen in, I thought they were all worth it and interesting.
I really loved the stamp company The Ton, her products are amazing.
Hope you find what you are looking for!

Even if they don’t, I am thinking that I may go, just to see what the unknown companies have to offer.

It’s small and there haven’t been vendors that I’d drive a couple hours to see, but maybe it varies depending on location. I’m surprised/pleased Rubbernecker still is at Expo. The owner has been talking about retiring for a long time—he’s terrific, worth a visit to his booth. He was demo-ing cards and I bet him that Versafine Clair could be stamped and then heat embossed 5 to 7 minutes after stamping when it feels dry. He took of his watch to time it. I won, got the neat card he was making. They have some neat stamps, some a bit different.

I’ll definitely stop by the Rubbernecker booth, then, CardBoxer. I didn’t look that closely at their booth at GASC, but I was looking for Disney related items. That is why I was hoping that Paper Wizard would be at Scrapbook Expo. I’ll still be on the hunt for Disney, but I’ll browse a bit more carefully for non-Disney items this time.

There’s always been a very busy Disney booth, too bad if it’s not there. I guess there’s a chance the son of the Rubbernecker owners took over the shows, but when last there (pre-pandemic) the father said their son wasn’t interested.

I had a bad experience with Tall Mouse/Kreative Kreations. I went to the New Jersy expo on August 12th, and I shopped at the Tall Mouse booth. When I got home, I also placed an order online. The next thing I know, I'm getting a message that says that my order wouldn't ship until AFTER September 15th! I emailed them and received a snippy reply from the owner that said that she had been "very transparent" on the website and had indicated that they would be traveling to shows and making "family visits," so orders wouldn't ship out until after September 15th. If there was a notice, it must have been so small that I didn't see it, and there was no notice on the payment page, which she also said was there.
I just sent an email yesterday inquiring about my order, but I haven't received a reply. I told her that the items are for a gift in October; and if she couldn't ship by the end of next week, I would cancel my order and find the items elsewhere. I will never buy anything from them again. If you're going to be out on the road for a month, and can't afford to have someone ship your orders while you're away, don't take orders until you get back. It's unprofessional to make your customers wait over a month for their orders because you have to make family visits in addition to a month of shows.

I don’t blame you for being upset, riversong1963. I wouldn’t want to order online from a company who did that, either. I will not be shipping anything, fortunately, but I have never seen those particular Disney inspired dies anywhere else. They may be out of stock still, but I won’t be ordering anything from them online. They don’t show the Disney dies on their website, anyway, so they may not carry them anymore. There are a lot of companies that will ship promptly. To have such delays in shipping is inexcusable.

Was the Disney booth Paper Wizard? It doesn’t look they they are attending. I wish I could remember. I can picture where the booth with Disney was on the showroom floor in 2019 though! That year I spent hours at the Stamplistic booth observing a gilding wax and gilders paste technique, and went to a couple classes so didn’t visit many booths. Paper Wizard is on the exhibitor list for 2019. Here’s the list in case it could be another company: scrapbookexpo.com/2019-expo-show-list/va-19/exhibitors-va19/

Thanks, CardBoxer. I know that Paper Wizard has incredibly detailed laser cut titles and page kits, and plenty of them are Disney themed. Unfortunately, they are not attending the Expo in October, but I could purchase online from them. It will cost more online, though, because when buying at convention, you can usually get a discount. I have seen Disney inspired page kits from other vendors, probably including those on that 2019 list, but most of them seemed to offer designs that I can easily create on my own, and which just didn’t appeal to me as much as those from Paper Wizard, but maybe someone at the Expo will surprise me. This discussion has helped me realize that I do want to go. I haven’t left a convention empty handed yet, so it will hopefully be worth attending this one, whether or not I find anything for scrapping Disney pictures.

Have fun cropping with your friend, KikiPea, whether or not your favorite vendor is there! When I lived back in No. VA, my scrappy friends and I went together for the shopping, but since moving to Texas, I go solo and still only to shop. The few scrappy friends I found here don’t go to the conventions.

They dropped Denver off of their list last year and then said that they couldn't find a location. Couldn't find a location in Denver? Pshaw. I am sure they couldn't find a cheap location. Hope they add it back.

Scrapbook Expo did fill the void, but we had at least a year of no conventions. I really missed them, but at least I lived near (and worked for) a good LSS. No LSS near me now.
