And she’s already talking up the NEXT class she’s going to do - the year long one. I’m getting flashbacks to the craptastic rollout of the rainbow class. Although she did make a point of saying a couple of times, in a video I watched yesterday, that there is no date yet for the year long class, because she will be finishing up the Use Your Stickers classes first. But then...... I see now that the Starter Class for the year long project will start on 10th May, one week away. How many classes are we supposed to get in the Use What You Buy - Stickers set? I assumed it would be four, as with the patterned paper. So are we going to get the remaining three classes/videos in the next week before the starter class begins? Or are both classes going to overlap? Which no doubt would mean longer delays for each class.

I find it odd that there’s no mention on her forum of anyone asking when the next class will be. Unless I’ve overlooked one. And she hasn’t mentioned it one peep in the YT Lives since the first class (finally) launched. There’s got to be a lot of people excited to get on with it already. But I know Shimelle’s guard dogs attack anyone who asks any question that could be slightly construed as critical.

I am interested in the next class, but I am thinking I will wait to see how the monthly posting is going before plunking down the entire $50+ to make sure that the videos are actually getting posted.

Oh yeah, I'd be super hesitant about this. She doesn't seem to be able to manage a one month long class where all the videos can be released at once so I have next to no confidence in her ability to actually deliver on this year long class. I really wish she'd do only one live per week and spend the extra time fixing the basics of her business.

I signed up for the Sticker class and the 'starter' of the year long class on April 22 and neither appear in my forums list yet. I sent off an email 24 hours ago and still nothing. And this weekend is the Coronation, so another long weekend in the UK, so nothing will happen before Tuesday at least. It is getting to be ridiculous. If nothing else, either set aside one day a week to process class payments, or hire someone to just do that.

Well, since I posted this morning, I now have access to the Sticker class. Still no sign of the class that is meant to start next Wednesday though.

Did she ever come through with the words she was going to do for last iNSD? I do have those downloaded on my computer. I don't know if she ever finished all of the requests, but she did at one point link to the file in a live last year. The download I found had 21 different penned words.

Someone has asked the question now, but I don't expect Shimelle will actually check the forum to see it. And so far, no attack dogs, even though some of the comments are (understandably) a bit..... harsh. I love her page for the second sticker video. One of the Q2 challenges here is to do a layout with a grid design, so this one will be perfect.

Looks like things are still uploading for the new class, so I will check back tomorrow. She has a forum post for January, but no videos are there yet. There are some intro videos posted, too.
I really enjoy the fourth layout she made for the sticker class. I think it looks really pretty! I need to start pulling supplies so I can play.

I’d like to sign up for the new class. I’m debating the two options. Ideally, I’d get the whole thing vs just the starter, but I know Shimelle’s follow through isn’t the best, so will she really finish a whole year?

Ideally, I’d get the whole thing vs just the starter, but I know Shimelle’s follow through isn’t the best, so will she really finish a whole year? From her post about this class: “just the monthly content and not the full philosophy section, and those will be $5 when they first go live. If you know you would like all the additional months, knowing they will be published as I get them completed and not on a set day each month, you can sign up for the whole shebang – the starter class PLUS all the monthly updates for 2023 for $55USD.” Yeah, no thanks! That sounds like guaranteed annoyance and frustration. I groaned when she announced this class because it just seems destined to fail. And I hate that I have that mindset, but as she openly admits, she’s not great at schedules. I remember when she fell behind in the rainbow class she started ghosting in the scheduled YT lives and suddenly had many unforeseen catastrophes happen… it really felt like she was hiding because she was behind and people were getting fed up. Sigh. I’ll buy the classes as they are complete if I feel like it, but not ahead of time. It doesn’t seem like there’s any monetary incentive to pay in advance anyway.

That's why I opted to just pay for the starter now, and see how things go from here. Part of that is my own schedule for the rest of the year, as well as the concerns about follow through you also have. For now, I have a lot to catch up with the new sticker class videos and start of this class.

Shimelle is still posting things! The bridging class Stretch Your Stash Rainbow (Part 1) is now available.
Lots to look at this weekend, as I plan to spend most of it in my craft room. I'm excited!

Please report on how that new class is! I’m curious about it. Did you take the Rainbow class? If so, I think the first part of the bridging class does a great job of explaining what is to come with This Year's Story. She packed a lot of information into the first video, and I found it very enjoyable to watch. In the bridging class, she explains how she uses color to create a cohesive look to the "chapters" of her scrapbook. In Shimelle's case, her yearly albums are divided into monthly chapters. She takes the remnants of the February Best of Both Worlds kit and rebuilds it using things from her stash to finish telling her smaller stories from the month. You get to watch the entire process, including creating a new, cohesive color scheme (as we did in the Rainbow class) to pulling paper from her stash. She does a lovely job explaining her thought process along the way. I am excited to see more. April was too busy for me to scrap, and now I just feel out of practice. But watching that video (and videos #3 & #4 from the sticker class) is making me want to jump back in to my wedding album.

I always enjoy her videos, and this wasn’t an exception. I don’t think I found it particularly helpful to me though. Pulling out more stash to supplement a prior kit using anything I need help with figuring out. Im curious how she takes the BOBW layouts and decides what to add to fill in album gaps. Or how she ouch’s and chooses which occasions get in the album and how the overall (story) flow is developed. I’m much less interested in how the color scheme flow develops, which was her focus in the bridge video (and makes sense why she said it was a bridge for the rainbow class). I went ahead and paid for the first introduction class because I’m interested in how she goes about selecting the photos and overall structure of storytelling. I may be mangling my words here and not doing a good job of articulating what my interest is. I’m also not sure the specific obstacles I come across with organizing my album storytelling will be addressed with Shimelle’s class. Part of my trouble cones from wanting to address all my kids in the album without going overboard altogether. Balancing four kids in a scrapbook is tricky sometimes, and I doubt her method is going to help jd ouf with this conundrum!

I enjoyed the first bridge video - my brain thinks similarly to hers in choices, and I just need the reminder/encouragement to actually use those skills in my album decisions.
I've never scrapped chronologically and so my albums are *COMPLETELY* random in colours and styles. I don't like that but it has taken me 25 albums to come to that conclusion. I will allow Shimelle to gently steer me towards a more cohesive feel! I think I NEED this help with my approach, even though I innately know and understand it without teaching. It's like having a personal trainer. We all know how to exercise and that we should do it, but sometimes you need someone to gently move you through it.
for the first time ever, I took an event (a 5 day trip to see family), decided on what exact layouts I would do with them, and hope to decide on a colour scheme/kit to use to make them feel cohesive.

Balancing four kids in a scrapbook is tricky sometimes, and I doubt her method is going to help jd ouf with this conundrum! I understand what you are saying. I am interested in hearing how she chooses her stories to tell as well. I hope she addresses that some more in the other parts of the bridging class. She did mention that she would answer any of our questions, so if you ask her in the forum or during a live, she probably will address it. And my albums are not organized at all like hers either, as I don't make a monthly kit. I do make page kits for events in my life though, so instead of monthly chapters in my albums, they are essentially event chapters. For example, Christmas usually takes up a few pages at the end of my yearly album, but I usually pull a few collections that work together to make those pages so they do seem cohesive at the end. As for the kiddos, I have an album for each one. Family trips and holidays go in the yearly album, but small individual stories for my kids go into their own albums. That's what works for me, but I understand some crafters may want things contained into one album each year. That may be a good question to bring up during a live session! I honestly see this class being very helpful for my larger, individual albums, like the wedding one I am currently working on. When planning out this album last year, I decided to use 1canoe2's Creekside as my main collection throughout the entire thing. Then, depending on what I am scrapping about for the trip, I am incorporating a second collection that matches the original. Any pages dealing with travel will use Creekside and Road Trip by Carta Bella. All layouts about our short stay in Missouri use Creekside and Sasparilla by October Afternoon. Colorado pages use Creekside and Lake Life by Fancy Pants. And since the wedding day will be multiple pages, I have been using Creekside and Just Married by Echo Park. So apparently I have been kinda doing what Shimelle does (for this particular album), just in a completely different way that works for me. But I always enjoy hearing her thought process, too. I always learn something new from Shimelle!

I always have to plan out bigger projects/stories, because that's just how my brain works! I like making to do lists and checking things off, and planning out my potential layouts in advance for big projects is my scrappy way of doing that. I admire people who can be inspired and pull anything from their stash at any point and scrap. Sometimes my stash seems a little overwhelming to me, so planning and making kits is my way of dealing with that. I am also "working" on slimming down my stash some to help prevent this in the future (please ignore the fact that I just filled up my shopping cart at ACOT with pretty new things I hope to be spoiled with soon! 😂)

Shimelle just had her third live lesson for the bridging class and the focus was starting with embellishments and coming up with stories to tell from there. I find kit building videos relaxing, so I enjoyed it. The final live for the bridging class should be tomorrow. Im curious how she takes the BOBW layouts and decides what to add to fill in album gaps. Or how she ouch’s and chooses which occasions get in the album and how the overall (story) flow is developed. ... I went ahead and paid for the first introduction class because I’m interested in how she goes about selecting the photos and overall structure of storytelling. And just an FYI, Shimelle mentioned at the end of today's lesson that because of the upcoming Persnickety Prints sale for Memorial Day, she is going to try and make her video about her photo library and selecting photos this week. So hopefully that's the video you have been looking forward too!

Here is another layout for the sticker class. I honestly started creating this page without any pictures in mind. I was just having fun playing with papers. Then I realized it matched my daughter's newly dyed blue hair, so that worked out well! http://instagram.com/p/CsuyV-GuBRl
