I will check back tomorrow to chat.
But I wanted to remind the DEEva's that if you are going for the Completion bonus for CARDtober, you have until November 7th to complete all 31 cards. All CARDtober points will still count for the rest of the quarter, but the chance for the bonus runs out in a week.

Well, it is November... First I would like to thank our DEEva's gramma and Ryann and azcrafty for your inspiration during CARDtober. I plan to start card making this next weekend, so all the ideas in the CARDtober bank are invaluable..... I have enjoyed seeing all the cards in the Gallery and in the challenge and sharing threads. Somewhere between 30 and 300 depending on if I decide to participate in the little Peas card exchange, the big Peas card exchange and Cards for Soldiers You are a card making dynamo! So many cards! And so well designed and put together. No wonder you are feeling a little burned out and may be ordering gifts from Amazon! Due to some unexpected stuff, I've been unable to sit and play w/my new cricut Joy. I hope to rectify that this weekend and do some holiday cards. Were you able to find the JOY with your Joy? I am often way more in love with things when I am ordering them and waiting for them to arrive than I am once they are here. I did manage to foil a few things with my Spellbinders Glimmer System last week, but the process is nowhere near as smooth as it looks like it is in those videos . Got some setiments foiled. Next step is to do some poinsettias. This year, I have about 8 mini christmas trees made (using a concord and 9th die) and if I get enough finished I'll give those to my co-workers. Those sound cute! Based on your last years' projects, I am sure they will look amazing. No handmade gifts this year BUT dh and I are going to work on some new holiday wood cutouts - Peanuts gang and Grinch for the yard and window. We made a cutout for inside years ago - Charlie Brown with Snoopy and his dog house at Christmas time. Those sound fun! Now if dh and I were going to take on a project like that, it would be a wonder if either of us came out of it alive... They usually include some sort of shimmer/glitter/sparkle element. I'm still in the process of deciding on this year's design(s), but some will most likely include a bit of Cosmic Shimmer sparkle texture paste. Ooooh! I love shimmer! At the crop, I won a jar of TH Distress Grit Paste "snowfall", and refused to trade it for any of the "prettier" colours the other ladies had. Do you have your design picked yet? Not that I can think of. I’ve been watching mostly investment/retirement YT videos when crafting lately. It’s where my brain is right now. Sounds like you are dreaming of a time you can craft any day of the week. I don't know how all you working moms get any crafting done! I really hope everyone is enjoying their crafting so far this month. Even though I haven’t really been successful I have enjoyed all the refreshing of old skills. These are things I haven’t really done in a long while! I am not surprised it is taking you a bit of time to get back into crafting. Glad you are finding joy refreshing your skills. Hoping things will get easier for you as time goes on. Now some questions: 1. What have you been buying to make your holiday cards and pages? Besides my Spellbinder glimmer plates, I have some new dies (like the Jaded Blossom add-ons so I can dress my gnomes for Christmas), plus some gnome pp from Stampin' Up. I said I wasn't going to buy any more holiday crafting supplies. I lied. Besides making Christmas cards this month, I plan to be doing Christmas baking. So I have another question for you DEEva's: 2. Do you do holiday baking? If so, what is your favourite holiday treat recipe? And whenever you do the baking, could you share a photo?

1. What have you been buying to make your holiday cards and pages?
I bought a Sizzix snow flake embossing folder, Neenah white card stock, and a new die and stamp set (wreath). Looking forward to playing with those items this weekend.
2. Do you do holiday baking?
Yes! I out both of my KA stand mixers to use. We make cut out cookies, Russian tea cakes, thumb print cookies, and drop ball cookies. I also make a crust free pumpkin pie.

Hi Team! I am so bad at keeping up with chat threads...sorry I hope you're all doing well! I am done travelling for a while so things should start to settle down. I spent this past weekend at a scrappy retreat so I'll rack up a bunch of points for crafting with friends but too bad there aren't bonuses for excessive socializing. This means, I didn't get too much done but had a great time. I am not much of a card maker but want to give it a go this year. I only need about 40 and I have a simple idea in mind so it shouldn't take too too much time. Christmas baking is my favorite!! The list gets switched around a bit each year but in the past I've made caramel butter bars, chocolate-orange biscotti, red velvet cake, cheese cake, and all types of cookies (thumbprint, chocolate chip, sugar, cut out, etc). I am going to start planning my list out soon.

Q & A: 1. What have you been buying to make your holiday cards and pages? A few weeks ago I bought Cosmic Shimmer sparkle texture paste (aurora sparkle), TH Grit Paste (snowfall), and TCW stencil butter (platinum) so I could try them all and see what I liked and what might work on my holiday cards. I LOVE love love the Cosmic Shimmer sparkle texture paste, so I will definitely use that on my cards. I'll probably also incorporate the other 2 on some of the designs. I have several designs in mind, and am still narrowing it down - this weekend is slated for finalizing and making a few samples. I have plenty of other holiday supplies so I don't think I'll need to purchase much of anything else, although I did just order the new TH distress ink color!
2. Do you do holiday baking? If so, what is your favourite holiday treat recipe? And whenever you do the baking, could you share a photo? Yes, I usually do a lot of holiday baking, but this year it will be just DH & I so I'll have to cut back a little. I do send Christmas cookies to family members and typically make some type of sweet rolls for Christmas morning. 2 favorite cookies: gingerbread people, and chocolate cherry cookies. I also like to try at least one new-to-me cookie recipe each year and I haven't chosen that yet. The Christmas morning treat will probably be cinnamon sticky buns (in the manner of Cinnabons). I'll share photos after I bake!

That's the same one I bought; I think it will make excellent "snow" for my cards. It's a little more translucent and not as opaque as I wanted it to be but I only tried a thin layer and have yet to test all possible ways to use it, including (apparently?) mixing it with distress ink to color it. Have you played with yours much, grammadee? For pure sparkle factor, I have to say I really love the Cosmic Shimmer in "aurora sparkle"! I have not yet picked my final card designs; I've narrowed them down (I usually do 2-3 different ones) and will make some this weekend and decide.

Oh and all cookies are nut, soy, corn, and gluten free. Oh and lactose free! Wow, I'm impressed, because it is definitely more challenging to bake this way! 1. What have you been buying to make your holiday cards and pages? I bought fresh plates for die cutting (mine are so well worn they are leaving marks on the paper), and one new stencil set that I hope to try out this evening. I have such a large stash of Christmas paper/inks/dies/stamps that I really shouldn't be buying anything! I did see a card that used "white puff embossing powder" to add a snow effect to some die cuts - and it was very cute - so now I want it but hopefully won't remember it next time I'm shopping. 2. Do you do holiday baking?I think it's my favourite part of Christmas. We make all sorts of stuff - I always make way too much but it's too hard to choose!

Oh and all cookies are nut, soy, corn, and gluten free. Oh and lactose free! My dd is gluten intolerant, and I always bake some of the pumpkin pie filling in a separate low casserole so she can enjoy it when we eat our pie. Would you mind sharing a recipe for gluten free rolled cut out cookies? I find it difficult to do that with most GF flour. The GF cookies I make are with ground pecans, so those would not work for you if you need to be nut free. They do well holding together as circles, but not for any more intricate shapes.

I use King Arthur's recipe: www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/gluten-free-rollout-sugar-cookies-made-with-baking-mix-recipe**I don't use the almond extract** That one uses the baking mix. I also Measure for Measure and replace the gluten flour in Betty Crockers Ethel's and Mary's Sugar Cookies recipes.

Good morning, Dee-va's. Love hearing about you.
I have photographed and posted the pages from the crop and they are all in albums. Have started to add up my points. Not much paper crafting happening this next week b/c my dsil is bringing dgs (ADHD 9 year old) to stay with us for a week. If there is crafting, it will be focused on what he wants to do. Maybe some cookie baking. I also have an idea for something to do with the leaves we collected last time he was here, but not sure what he will think of that process.
What are you up to this weekend? Today I plan to cook up tomatoes, and tomorrow make a big batch of lasagna to freeze. Will probably have dh's sister's family here for supper tomorrow to help eat some of that. Our niece wanted to come make Christmas cards tomorrow morning, but thinking with dgs here that we may post pone that until next week after he heads home for hockey.
Happy first weekend in November!

1. What have you been buying to make your holiday cards and pages? Oh, my. Can I answer "all the things", lol? I had to buy a new container to house the 2022 christmas product purchases. While I haven't officially started my holiday crafting, I'm looking forward to the things I have planned. It has been a rough week, so I'm hoping I will feel up to crafting this weekend. I really need to get going on things. 2. Do you do holiday baking? Yes, but not a lot. Our friend group started doing cookie exchanges during the pandemic as a way to still have some interaction since we couldn't do what we usually do. We've continued on and it's now tradition. We do 2-3 a year. The fall one will be next weekend, and we usually do a christmas one in December, too. I don't have any favorites or things I make each year. Whatever recipes look good that I feel I can do. I know to stay away from recipes using homemade caramel/sauce - I can't do that.

Took some time to add up my points today.
Didn't earn too many points this past week, except for spending time crafting with my dgs. I DID manage to ink a bunch of card panels. Used a couple today and hope to use a bunch more tomorrow when I am card making with my niece.
Ordered some Christmas gifts on line today. Where is everyone this year on shopping for gifts? Ahead or behind from usual? I often have most of my decisions made by now and many of the gifts picked up and stored, or on order. This year I have one waiting for a ddil at the LSS and the two I ordered today. I DID get my photo for the November calendar page, so should be able to get that last page done and the whole thing off to the printer by mid next week.

grammadee I need 1 more gift for ds and 2 more for dd. Next month is when dh and I shop for each other our 3 nieces. Also need to pick out an ornament for the exchange. Years ago the adults in my family moved away from gift giving to save money and moved to an ornament exchange. We each pick an ornament and then draw numbers. 1 goes first at choosing and down the line. Then my parents randomly choose a number and that person wins a fun gift card. It's fun hanging all the ornaments we have received over the years.

pantsonfire, I love your ornament exchange tradition! My ds's family each buy each other small ornaments each year. They work had to find ones that represent something about each recipient. They have a wonderful collection on their tree.
Did some shopping yesterday, but sadly did not find as many items as I had hoped. So much for letting the store displays inspire me... Got some gifts for my brothers in the brand new Canadian Tire store in a nearby city. Going to look locally Friday to find gifts for my sisters-in-law. Calendars are at the printer. Need to text my dgk's to get their lists finalized. Good news is I have over half my Christmas cards constructed and have a set of diecut pieces that can be assembled in the morning to finish some more. How are all the DeeVa's doin'?

I just posted the following in the Rules thread and wanted to let all the DeeVa's know about some additional bonus points we can earn in the month of December. Just as the Mad Hatter likes "Clean Plate!"s, we sometimes like to have NEW RULES! NEW RULES! For the month of December, let's see how many of the Q-4 challenges we can knock off. Presenting to you... Making a List and Checking it ONCE: Print off a copy of the Q-3 challenges. Count any points you earn in December by any method you prefer--Old School or Easy Peasy--then, on your new fresh challenge list, check off each challenge you meet for the first time that month. So no matter which challenge it was, if you used it once or ten times in December, it gets ONE checkmark. At the end of December, count up your check marks, and award yourself bonus points as follows: There are about 100 challenges this month (wow...) so we could say: 5 DIFFERENT challenges met = 25 points 10 = 50 20 = 150 30 = 300 40 = 450 50 = 600 60 = 750 70 = 900 80 = 1100 90 = 1300 100 = 1500 This starts Thursday December first! So let's get crafty, making pages and cards and gifts and... This new challenge sounds so fun, grammadee November has been a bit much, but I have a reprieve this weekend! Two friends & I are doing a long crafty weekend at a local Airbnb. I’m SO looking forward to a break from real life for a few days. I’m deciding tonight what I’ll need to pack tomorrow, so I’ll be sure to print out the challenge list to take with me. I’m thinking of taking a break from christmas crafting and doing some scrapbooking this weekend.

Also, if you are looking for something NEW to take on, take a look at this month's DONNA challenge: Making Spirits Bright! Be sure to get some pic's of yourself doing things for others, or of them doing things for you this month. Or of the things you bake or create for others if you are averse--as I am--to selfies... And since things are pretty busy anyway this time of year, maybe give yourself a break on your normal points counting routine and go for Easy Peasy before you add the bonus on.
Happy December!

And...Another new rule! Well, actually, it is just an addition to the last one. Check out sleepingbooty's daily creative prompts in the December Daily Megaaa Thread Apply any of those DD prompts on your creative projects this month, and count that toward your Checking it ONCE bonus points. As always, you can apply any number of prompts to the same project. But you can only count it once for this, no matter how many times you use the same prompt.

Hey Festive Deevas! Hope December has started out well for you. I am heading off to do some grandparenting. Fist visiting one ds's family, then heading over to the other ds's home to stay with his boys while parents are off on an adventure. I have my vehicle packed with gifts I want to take. Still need to tuck in some cookie trays, my suitcase, and ME!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hey Festive Deeva's! Feelin' festive, yet?
I brought home a mega cold from grandparenting, so not partying too hardily here. Also came home with tons of fun photos--tree decorating, cookie baking and decorating, hockey playing and puppy excitement--but so far have managed just one page. Today I managed to clear off my scrap counters in CASE I have energy to scrap any of these pic's this next week. Of course I will also need energy to clean my house, bake one more batch of cookies, and wrap the rest of the holiday gifts. And the scrapping CAN wait...
So who is ready for the holidays? Hmmmm....?

Sorry ladies, I really let you down this quarter. Thought it was going to be stress free without doing holiday home and it did not work out that way. I am going to skip next quarter and hopefully be back on my game by Q2. I will post in the general sharing thread anything I make in Q1, but I won't be counting points or joining a team. I hope everyone had wonderful holidays.

Hi Team!! I hope everyone who celebrates enjoyed the holidays. Tonight is the night I am going to point my projects from this quarter. I have no idea where I'll land point wise - there are only a handful of layouts but I made 40 cards plus I will rack up some points for cropping with friends, solo craft time and I'm not sure what else. I'm heading over to sign up for the next quarter now. I posted on the "what I want to learn" thread a few things I want to work on plus I have another retreat in February. I plan to pack with challenges in mind bc I am determined to earn the mega bonus one of these quarters. ha!!
