hop2 That's sadly a different story than the crazed lady in the TFG video. NO ONE is handing out BAGFULS of rainbow colored fentanyl tabs to children. It would kill them. What's the point? If you're a drug dealer, you want to SELL them. This sounds stupid all around. ITA that children sadly living with anyone addicted to drugs puts them in a very dangerous category. Living with or being anywhere near someone with a terminal illness makes it tempting for addicts to dip into their strong drugs. I get that. I'm so sorry about your sister's grandkids. Thank God it wasn't fentanyl. Even if it was the usual morphine, it's deadly. They shouldn't be anywhere NEAR the father, unsupervised (unless your sister or the caregiver keeps his meds in a secure locked box)!!!!!!!!! I was told when DH had terminal cancer that this box of many drugs WAS SERIOUS. I kept it in my refrigerator, in the back where it would be difficult to spot, but Hospice warned me again and again to watch the box. Watch that it wasn't unsealed/opened. Once Gary did need those drugs (only the last 2 days of his life), was when we opened the box and I then kept it in a lockbox. It's pretty scary!!!!!!! I even keep my tylenol 4's locked up. Not only do I not want to even lose 1, but I know it's dangerous to children, pets, and everyone. The statement that this whacked out lady (definitively) about illegals HAVING HOUSES and planning to GIVE AWAY fentanyl in rainbow colors in bags, just sounded like the most cracked out thing I've heard in a while! Yes, but that’s how Faux news gets their stories. They take something and twist it to where they can use it as a weapon to terrorize stupid people to fear vote

I’ve only been to one political rally. But I can’t imagine ever going to a “political rally” and listen to this guy whine or any politician for that matter. What they are suppose to do is tell me what they will do if I should vote for them. I mean isn’t that what is suppose to happen at political rallies?

I agree with Newsom that the Democrats need to control the narrative and have so for a long time. I agree with him when he says all this polarization makes one weary. And I agree with him about immigration. I think there is a lack of will in both parties to realistically deal with immigration. There has been since the 1986 Immigration Reform act. IMO. From the Washington Post… “ Opinion The paradoxes of Gavin Newsom”By E.J. Dionne Jr. Columnist Gift Article “Let’s explore the paradoxes of Gavin Newsom. By taking on his right-wing Republican counterparts in Florida and Texas, California’s Democratic governor has gone national in a big way — and earned the gratitude of many in his party who are tired of being pushed around. Newsom doesn’t regret his public war with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, but he does speak of it somewhat wistfully, as a task he really wishes he didn’t have to undertake. In an interview Friday, he distinguished between “the person that I want to be versus the person I’m becoming.” Taking on DeSantis, Abbott and the right, he says, is “a tactic to meet this moment. And so, yes, I’m pushing back. … I’m trying to change the narrative because I think they’re dominating the narrative.” He speaks with pride at having joined former president Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, in June to call out what he called “the red-state murder problem,” a reference to the fact that eight of the 10 states with the highest murder rates happened to have voted Republican in every election since 2000. But Newsom insists that he’s weary of “how polarized we’ve become, how traumatized we’ve become through this pandemic, being so socially distant from each other in every way, and how tribalism is dominant.” What you might call The Newsom Tension is reflected in the reason he reached out to have a conversation — not because he wanted to press on with his boisterous, attention-grabbing sparring with the GOP’s Sun Belt duo, or to reinforce his efforts on behalf of abortion and LGBTQ rights, but to plug what he called his “proudest moment” as governor: Friday saw the swearing-in of the first 3,200 members of the state’s new College Corps, which pays low-income students $10,000 annually for undertaking service jobs. The students come from 46 campuses and will serve in 600 different community organizations. Perhaps it’s a comment on our bitter moment that Newsom’s innovative approach to service is likely to be of wide interest primarily as a counterpoint to his political pugilism. But it’s a cause he’s passionate about. He names Sargent Shriver, the first director of the Peace Corps, as his hero, and his administration has a chief service officer — not your standard bureaucratic post. Josh Fryday, the Navy veteran and former small-city mayor who holds the job, hopes other states will imitate a program he sees as a next-generation GI Bill. “If you are willing to serve your community,” Fryday says, “we are willing to help you pay for school.” Newsom freely acknowledges “going back and forth” between the “clenched fist” of partisan warfare and warmer feelings inspired by “these remarkable kids that just don’t care about that, they still care about something bigger than that.” The man who has relished taking it to the likes of DeSantis and Abbott insists he’d prefer a more peaceable republic. “At a certain point we’re all exhausted,” he says. “At a certain point, this has to end. It’s just too much. … How do we get out of this?” One path out, he thinks, is compulsory national service, drawing citizens together to combat the loss of a “common story” and a “common experience.” There are other Newsom paradoxes. He is, in many ways, a moderate. In describing his service program, he reaches back to the decades-old slogan of the centrist (and now-defunct) Democratic Leadership Council: “Opportunity, Responsibility, Community.” He referred to himself as a businessperson five times in a roughly 45-minute interview. Yet he roundly defends his state’s highly progressive tax structure and signed into law a raft of progressive bills. They include pro-labor laws on behalf of fast-food workers and farmworkers; a major climate package; generous new family-leave benefits for lower-income workers; and legal protections for transgender youth. He is particularly proud that the state has set up college savings accounts for low-income children. Newsom is fond of “mantras” — his word — that sand down frictions: “growth and inclusion,” for example, or “diversity and dynamism.” He praises President Biden for offering a “master class of substance” but can also scold fellow Democrats. “We have a completely broken immigration system,” he says. “Where the hell is my party in that?” And the biggest tension of all? After turning himself into a national player, Newsom, who has a big lead in his reelection race, insists tenaciously that he is not running for president. “Look, there’s nothing special about me,” he says. “I’m a guy that got 960 on my SAT and struggled to read.” “I’m getting invitations now to all of these barbecues and dinners,” he adds. “And I’m turning them down because if I turn up, then no one, including myself, will believe anything I say.” Maybe it’s one more paradox: Such words won’t stop Democrats fed up with Republican bullies from keeping his inbox busy.” I do like the service program. I think Democrats tried to pass a conservation corps in the Build back better plan. Revisiting that would be a good idea. And Democrats need to do something about immigration, especially with DACA ending soon. Start with low hanging fruit - work visas. Kill 2 birds with one stone - labor shortages and immigration. Make the asylum process simpler, easier and shorter. Gavin Newsom - I wish he would focus on governing California and not running for president. He is running for president, he just hasn't officially announced it yet. He's just waiting to see if Biden announces he's not running in 2024. The only question for Newsom is 2024 or 2028? Republicans are not paragons of virtue, there are plenty of examples of unethical behavior. However, Newsom's affair with the wife of an aide and his marriage to Kimberly Guilfoyle are not a good look. And I don't think he can overcome the stereotype of California politicians being too liberal for the rest of the country. Democrats can do better. Pete Buttigieg, Raphael Warnock, Jamie Raskin, Chris Murphy, Stacey Abrams, Beto O'Rourke for starters

And more . What is the 'trigger warning' that the NARA put on the Constitution? Bill of Rights etc... During his Arizona rally, former President Donald Trump falsely accused Democrats of putting a "trigger warning" on the Constitution. He then went off on a rant against Democrats claiming they are the ones who destroy documents and "they plant documents," he continued. "They plant documents. Let's see, is there a book on nuclear destruction or the building of nuclear weapon cheaply?" he said, sweating in the Arizona heat. "Let's put that box — let's put that in with Trump. Nah, they plant documents. They have a terrible reputation. Look at the kinda things — this is just the small part that I've read. And who would want to be with them? We're safer in that Chinese restaurant." Immediately after stolen government documents were seized at Mar-a-Lago, Trump began claiming that documents were planted. When reports surfaced that there was nuclear information in there, Trump flew off the handle on his personal social media website. He categorically denied that he had such a document. Trump then found a supportive judge in Florida that he went to asking for the documents to be returned or to block the DOJ from an investigation. In their response to Trump's filing, the Justice Department showed a photo of the folders of the documents showing that they read "TOP SECRET" or "CLASSIFIED" as well as a slew of abbreviations under which their classification fell. One of those abbreviations was about nuclear programs under the Pentagon. Former assistant director of counterintelligence at the FBI, Frank Figliuzzi, explained that among the folders were references to "special access programs" that were formerly under the Atomic Energy Act but moved to the Pentagon for defense. "I'm not trying to be overly dramatic," Figliuzzi explained. "Even a discussion of the nature of special access programs becomes problematic. That's how sensitive they are. It's project-oriented. It could be long-term research that the government's doing on some incredibly sensitive technology. It could be the next iteration of a nuclear program or submarine. It could be a new weapons plan that's being worked on. It could be a new effort to insert people into a certain terrorist organization. We just don't know. But we know it's time sensitive. It's the most limited access you can get, and you get briefed in and out." It was then that Trump began losing support among at least one Fox host. During the rally, Trump also falsely said that the documents "are mine." In fact, every document created for government business by a government employee belongs to the government. Trump even went on to falsely characterize the documents as being "mine" under the Presidential Records Act. The exact opposite is the case, as the Presidential Records Act is why they do not belong to Trump. www.rawstory.com/trump-nuclear-bomb-book-planted/

Speaking of threats . Michigan GOP party, Hillsdale County.. A video being amplified by Michigan Republican Party Co-chair Meshawn Maddock is drawing notice for its threatening language. The 90-second video, posted last week on the Facebook page for the Hillsdale County Republican Party, was then reposted by Maddock, who commented, “So GREAT!! God Bless you Hillsdale ♥️.” The video, which begins with the phrases, “The Hillsdale Republican Party vs Everybody” and “Grassroots Love vs Everybody” then proceeds to show pictures of Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer with the phrase, “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.” That’s followed by a picture of their respective GOP opponents; Kristina Karamo, Matthew DePerno and Tudor Dixon, saying they’re “Gonna Cut You Down.” All the while, Johnny Cash’s song of the same name plays in the background. Oh Lordy. www.newsweek.com/american-states-that-wish-join-russia-will-considered-says-duma-member-1750336“A senior member of the state Duma, Russia's parliament, said that any U.S. states that want to break away from the country and instead join the Russian Federation will be considered. The comments come only a week after Russia declared that four regions of Ukraine had become Russian territory, following referendums that were widely criticized by Ukrainian and Western officials as being sham. These were Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine and Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south. The votes supported the regions changing from Ukrainian to Russian territory. State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev was responding to an online poll that showed that some Americans wanted their states to break free from the U.S. If Americans vote to secede some states from the country and express a desire to join Russia, Moscow will consider it, Tolmachev told Russian news site Podmoskovye Segodnya. The lawmaker said that the U.S. was beginning "to decay," and that its ally, the European Union, which has also provided strong military assistance to Ukraine, was "bursting at its seams." Tolmachev said this was a result of a failed American foreign policy. "Such initiatives are a signal that the citizens of the United States are dissatisfied with their leadership and are ready to take extreme measures, up to secession, if the current policy of America continues," he said. Mosregtoday.ru also reported the news, noting that on social media, some 80 percent of New Hampshire residents said they wanted to break away from the United States. A comment underneath the social media poll said: "Most of Oregon wants to leave Oregon. I support the big Idaho movement. And so should the people living in Texas, Florida, Idaho and everywhere in between. I support any state that wants to achieve statehood." However, there was also some opposition to seceding from the U.S. on social media. "It is important that voting takes place not on social networks, but officially and legitimately, as in the Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk and Luhansk republics, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson provinces," Tolmachev said, referring to online polls. Cynthia Nicoletti, professor of law at the University Virginia School of Law, said state secession is unconstitutional. "States can't unilaterally secede from the U.S.," she told Newsweek. "This was established both by the outcome of our Civil War and by the Supreme Court in the 1869 case Texas v. White. Article I, section 10 of the Constitution also prohibits states from entering into alliances, treaties, or confederations. " "I suppose theoretically it's an open question as to whether a state could secede with the consent of Congress or with the consent of all the other states. There's some throwaway language about the possibility of all states agreeing to allow one state to secede in Lincoln's First Inaugural Address and in Texas v. White," Nicoletti added. But even if Russia was proposing that, it's "not a realistic scenario," she said.

greendragonlady I totally knew that was a false narrative. My parents used to own a home in NH and the live free or die motto was not taken lightly. But then I go back to the 2015 campaign where at an orange menace rally some idiot had a t-shirt on that said I’d rather be a Russian than a democrat. So I’m sure there are a few that would be thrilled with the idea.
