We are still watching. It is rather a jolt as Sheldon's voice is changing. I keep waiting to see how George's death will be presented. I just read a "news story" and it says that Missy's life is going to go downhill in the next episodes. in TBBT, I’m still watching but don’t know if I want to see him take an ugly turn. I thought he was just a football loving father and Sheldon learned about football through him and living in football loving Texas. I don't recall the alcoholic and terrible part. Judging from other comments, I missed the cheater part too. I actually would have enjoyed a show with George, Brenda and Billy instead of the current one. I like the dynamic between George and Brenda better. Mary is too bible thumping for me. All I know is George died when Sheldon was 14. I can't imagine a show without him so I hope they end the show when he does. |

Ok, I did some googling. According to BBT storyline Sheldon goes to East Texas Tech at 11. (Start of Season 5).
So by that, he and Missy are 12 this year.
Sheldon finds his Dad having an affair at 13.
He goes to Cal Tech for his Masters degree at age 14. And his Dad dies when he is 14 as well.
Based on that, Sheldon should be leaving home next season.

Bumping this for the final season that ends in May! I think the timing is right because I am over Sheldon's character. I think he is even more annoying as a know-it-all-teen than he was as a know-it-all-all adult. We keep watching because of the other characters, who I think have really taken over the focus of the show lately.
It looks like we will get some more time with the Cooper family because there is a spinoff planned for Georgie's family. Personally, I would like more of Missy--she has been the best part of this show for the past few seasons. The actress that plays her is awesome!
Spoilers below, and I don't know how to hide them, so stop now if you don't want to see them.
I have read that they will be showing George's death before the end of this season. I've read they won't show the immediate aftermath of his death, but will jump forward a few months before picking up the story line.
I absolutely loved last week's episode where he and Mary were writing letters back and forth, just like they did when he was in Vietnam. I got a little misty-eyed when she wrote about falling in love with him all over again through these letters and how she hopes to show him just how much when she gets home. I hope she gets the chance to do that before he dies.

I wonder if the producers have been surprised at how much more interesting everyone finds the rest of the characters. They started with talented actors and have developed them so much. Georgie is my favorite as he has really grown - with a little growing left to do. Early on in the show I wished the Big Bang Theory had more of Sheldon's family appear but now I like the freedom they have had to develop these characters as they chose to without having to adhere to too many of the restrictions of the original show. |

Georgie on TBBT is owner and operator of tire shops. I remember that and that is obviously used in Young Sheldon, but it seems to me he had been divorced a few times on TBBT. Does anyone else recall that. I know he was played by Jerry McConnel. They did a really good job casting Young Sheldon. Obviously casting Laurie Metcalf's daughter to play her younger self is just perfect, but even the rest of the cast really look like younger versions of the characters on TBBT |

I’m still watching but Sheldon is my least favorite. I’m curious about the spin off and heard that Missy will have issues/problems this season. I really like her character and think the actress is really good. I also watch for Meema I have always liked her. I’m not looking forward to The fathers death. I like that they are writing letters and seem to be falling for each other again.

This is one of my favorite shows. I am so impressed with how Ian Armitage learned all his lines in German & it seemed so fluent, he is such a talented actor!
I am really going to miss this show.

I still like young sheldon.. even sheldon. I know kids like him.. (not that smart). I agree the actors are excellent.

On TBBT Sheldon frequently refers to his dads drinking but never abuse. I’ve been watching it daily while I’m cooking and cleaning up the kitchen and I I think I’ve seen all the seasons now. I do enjoy it and Sheldon is a big child but he’s also not wrong about a lot of things. |
