The last few years we have been doing a combo of family and friends. With the in-laws moving out of town.. my immediate family are going to one of my best friends for dinner. Which is awesome because they make the MOST best turkey ever....
I am bringing:
Paula Deen's Banana Pudding
Cream corn casserole
and as disgusting as this sounds.. lol..
White Castle's (the hamburger place) stuffing. I made it a few years ago as a joke and it actually got rave reviews and ran out of it.. I have to say it was good. I was actually threatened if I didn't make it. So there you go.
We will also have the traditional stuff like mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, pies, and so forth.

Odd as it sounds, we are having ham instead of turkey. We get our meat from a local place and they don't raise turkeys, plus none of us are really big fans of turkey. So this year it's ham with some kind of glaze.
I'm going to make a stuffing with apples and sausage, cheesy potatoes, some cranberry entity (maybe jello!), and green beans with almonds. French apple pie and I have my eye on a bourbon pumpkin pie this year. Lately I'm into small-batch desserts so they'll be small.
Nontraditional but it's just the four of us plus MIL, and I'm tired of having leftovers for days. I'm hoping to make just enough for the one meal.

I'm all about that. l make turkey egg rolls the next day and that usually wipes out any leftovers we have. Going to a friends house though I probably won't get any extra turkey since there will be so many of us. Maybe I can sneak some out.. lol

I think I am hosting this year but it is just six of us, so not too difficult to handle. I’ll do the turkey, creamed corn, and I’m making green bean casserole for the first time ever. We don’t usually have it and I like it so since I’m hosting, I get to have it!
My mom and I make rolls and pies together the day before. She will make mashed potatoes, dressing, and glazed carrots. My brother makes the cranberry sauce.

I always do the green bean casserole for the gathering at my Dad's house--mostly because I know everyone will eat it and because it's easy to travel with since I can just assemble it in a disposable pan that day. I don't have a go-to for the meal at my mom's house so I'm not sure what I'll do for that day. We usually don't need to bring anything for the meal at the inlaws.

I don't cook, but we have:
Turkey (DH tries a different recipe every year) Stuffing with roasted chestnuts (I have the task of peeling the chestnuts) Sweet potatoes with pecans Homemade cranberry sauce Roasted brussels sprouts with bacon
We may add mashed potatoes this year because one kid is obsessed with them. I also may bake dinner rolls rather than buying them if I get time.
My mother brings store-bought pies for dessert.

Nothing! SIL wants to host and cook it all. I'm all for it as I had been hosting and doing the majority of the cooking for over 10 years. I might be taking a dessert but haven't been asked for sure.

Nothing. LOL. my mom and I and maybe my brother are going to head to my cousins home for dinner. We probably will bring a charcuterie board and probably a dessert. She’s a wonderful cook and usually doesn’t let us bring anything.

With being on vacation the last week of October, I was feeling behind on planning. It was too late to order from anywhere else, so I just did Honeybaked- turkey and ham and some of their side dishes. Ds has to work, so we will eat on his schedule and it helps not to have to make a bunch of stuff from scratch late in the day. I'll buy a pumpkin pie from.Costco and make pecan pie the day before

Same as always, my family doesn't like change and aren't adventurous so it's always the same basics. All from scratch for the most part (minus the green bean casserole, gag).
Turkey, Ham, Stuffing (and dressing), mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, baked butternut squash, cranberry sauce, biscuits, pumpkin pie and probably apple pie
That's for our early Thanksgiving dinner with my family which will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving as that's when my sister will be in town. For the three of us on the actual day we will have PW's steak bites, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, parmesan roasted broccoli and something for dessert.

We'll have company over Thanksgiving so I usually make or should I say, over-make, the amount of food needed so that it carries us through lunches and snacks etc. On Wednesday I'll make pies, pumpkin, apple, pecan, lemon meringue, and cherry cream cheese. I'll also prep all my needed vegetables, and prepare all the dishes that can hold over for cooking on Thursday. Then Thursday I'll cook and bake all the usual dishes, turky and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, green bean casserole, orange & pineapple fluff salad, cranberry sauce, rolls, etc.

I'm tired of having leftovers for days. I'm hoping to make just enough for the one meal. I'm the opposite! I prefer to cook at my house so we can have "leftovers for days." It's the best part of Thanksgiving. Especially a turkey sandwich with Duke's mayo and some cranberry sauce. Lol. All the kids and grandchildren are coming for C'mas so Thanksgiving will be small this year. Right now just me, my husband, our 21 y/o, and my best friend. I've still got to check with my in-laws to be sure they have plans or we'll include them. Turkey, dressing, gravy, ham, mac-and-cheese, corn souffle, green beans, a jello-type salad (a tradition that we only eat this once per year!), and deviled eggs. Plus pumpkin and lemon meringue pies.

We're hosting two Thanksgiving dinners this year (which is crazy because we didn't even expect to be home to celebrate at all) and I have random thoughts but nothing concrete yet. My husband wants to do turkey cutlets or turkey nuggets for the first one. I hate this idea - I don't really like breaded meat. I suggested some type of roulade instead. At any rate, this is still up in the air. We will do sweet potato gnocchi and it will be homemade as the last time, DH tried to substitute Trader Joe's sweet potato gnocchi and it was not successful. I think I will make a caramel apple cheesecake for the first celebration and a gingerbread trifle for the second. Deviled eggs and orange cranberry sauce are a given. After that, I really have no idea. Regular dressing? Cornbread dressing? Sausage dressing? Mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, cheesy potatoes? Green bean bundles, green bean casserole, brussels sprouts? It will be whatever inspires me when I start to shop.

Normally it's just the 5 of us. This year we invited a family of 5 (Ukrainian refugees), dh's sister and her family and dh's best friend and his family...so we have 18. I'm a little freaked out. But, we have:
Roast turkey Ham - we don't normally do ham, but with so many, I thought I would throw one in the mix Stuffing - homemade Mashed potatoes - homemade Mac and cheese - homemade Green beans - homemade Sweet Potatoes - from Whole Foods Gravy - from Whole Foods Cranberry/Pear/Orange relish - homemade Rolls - from Whole Foods Pumpkin Pie - homemade Chocolate Pecan Pie - homemade
Ordering some of the items from Whole Foods has been our go to for the past couple years. It helps a lot. But, there are some favs we just have to make from scratch.

We had Ukrainian refugees participating in our Main Street Halloween extravaganza this year, and they were so thrilled and appreciative of this American custom—their kids had never seen anything like it. I’m sure they’ll be so happy to be included. We've been invited to a Friendsgiving the Sunday before Thanksgiving, so I was assigned dessert. I’m making a bourbon chocolate pecan pie for that. DS isn’t sure what his and his GF's plans are but she alluded to the fact that they would be having Thanksgiving dinner with her large family and hit our house for dessert. DH and I don’t really want to make a huge meal for just the two of us, but I’d like to have small amounts of my favorites: my stepmother’s cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, corn pudding, jellied cranberry sauce. DH will probably want some kind of meat and mashed potatoes, but it’s all about the carbs for me. I’ve been thinking about making some sort of boozy bread pudding and maybe cookies, since that’s what DS really likes, and he can take the leftovers with him easily.

🤷🏻♀️ Not sure what I will do. I have to work every other year and this is my year to work. When I work I don’t typically go down to my parents as it makes things hard for people to make sure that they have dinner early enough for me to get back for work. I use to spend the years I worked with my best friend (and her husband) who passed away 3 years ago. So who knows what I will eat or where.

I'm hosting and just ordered a Honey Baked Ham and Smoked Turkey Breast. I've never ordered from them before, so I hope it's as good as pea lore implies. I have a fantastic turkey recipe, but I'm just not up for it this year with a crazy work schedule plus the limited time my college kids will be home.
I told everyone else to bring their favorite side or dessert, so we'll get what we get--if it's 3 different versions of potatoes, so be it. (I'm a huge control freak, so this is a big step for me!)
I'm watching my blood sugar, so I'm trying to figure out some non-carby sides and desserts that won't make my nosy aunt ask too many questions.

I just put in my reservation in for mine. Don't forget to allow for reheating time in the oven. The instructions are specific, you gotta wrap it up good with heavy duty foil so it doesn't dry out. There is just something about that sweet, crackly glaze..man oh man. We gather at my brother's house, I make the cranberry sauce, bringing the ham and will make the gravy once I get there. I may help mom make the stuffing this year, she's getting forgetful and I'm thinking I'll 'help' her. SIL makes the turkey and niece makes the potatoes. I'll also make a couple of apple breads and carrot cake cupcakes.

I've been making pretty much the same Thanksgiving meal for over 35 years. It doesn't vary too much. This year there are 9 of us, with 6 of them being houseguests. So I'll be cooking Monday through the following Thursday. The actual Thanksgiving meal is the easiest part of the week.
