Yes, I know it's kind of early but I was thinking today that I needed to start thinking about my word for next year. I don't think I used my word well this year. It was kind of a crazy year; my word was peace but I don't think there was much of that to be found around here (we had a lot of projects going on, not to mention an aging parent, and siblings that had some medical issues) so I was a word of the year drop out. I had used that word before so I maybe wasn't feeling it as much as I did my other words in past years? And I feel like it didn't feel right to me, you know what I mean? Anyway, I'm starting to think about next year-there are going to be a lot of changes around here, nothing bad, just a lot more social obligations (and for this introverted soul that in and of itself is going to be huge) so I'm maybe thinking about needing a good one. Or maybe I need a quote so I don't think a swear instead? So, how did your word work out for you this year? Are you thinking about next year yet?

This year my word was PEACE. And I have grown so much with it. It's been a good word for me. It was a really hard word at first, but I had a real shift in my thinking around June or July.
I've already chosen my word for next year - STRONG. And honestly, I am kinda afraid of what it's going to bring. Ideally, I'd like to focus on getting my body strong...I've lost a bunch of weight this year and want to start getting muscles now. LOL

I sometimes choose a few words, instead of one word.
My 2022 word is "Taking care of me". It's been a good guide "word" for me, when things are rough and I feel overwhelmed. I remind myself to take care of me. Whether is keeping boundaries in place, drinking enough water, having quiet time, etc.. Making sure I am okay is my top priority.
Still thinking about what I want my word(s) to be for 2023. Will post gain, once I decide.

My 22 Word was "Open" and we have worked out pretty good together. I think I know next years OLW will be "Move" which is pretty big.
I believe I'm not buying the class. I've paid for at least 3 years of the class, and I think I can cobble together, or pick and choose lessons. Some months are always the same, like first month, last month, vision board, practice.
I may buy supplies depending on the kit.

I haven't found my word yet...
My oldest dd will be in/going to college next year, so that will be huge. I am sort of looking for a job or should be. I wrote a book and am sending it out to agents (so far 4 rejections and no bites) so whatever word goes with all of that...
This year's word was happy, and it's been OK.
I signed up for the class years ago, and my word was not the type that fit many of the prompts(it was a noun ) so I didn't get very far. I'm not sure what if I'll take the class this year or not.
ETA: the word that has been popping into my head since I posted this is: document, although record (as in write down, take photos, not record albums) might be more fun with the icons and stuff.

This will be my first year (2023) to do the class. My word is going to be focus.

I have a hard time with one word. I get overwhelmed easily, so I'm going to stick with this quote. Reset. Readjust. Restart. Refocus. As many times as you need to.
So when I get anxious I say okay, time to reset, time to refocus....
I guess I'm choosing four little words.
ETA: Never done the class. Is it worth the money if my life is boring? Like I don't have any major life goals or anything.

This year my word was Invite with 3 companion words and it was my best OLW year ever as I incorporated all 4 into my daily planner and Devo time and was able to really practice and apply.
Next year I am working on ideas already but nothing confirmed. Words like shine, release, and level (as in balance + align) are all bubbling up. Level has lots of meanings so I may land with it and then include 3 companion words like this year.
I have done the class a bunch of times and will probably do it again just for the accountability but I don’t think I will buy any supplies this year as I have so much already.

I am still choosing between two words, so I want to keep mulling that over in my mind before I “announce” it. I will take the class, and I hope that I don’t buy any supplies, but I am not promising anything there.

I don't take the class. I choose a "word(s) of the year", to use as a guide and focus, for me and my life.
My 2023 Word of the year is "My Foundation". My word is a continuation of my 2022 word "Taking care of me".
In the past year especially, and since the Pandemic began.......I've felt like my foundation and core is not as strong as it has been in the past. I have floundered, wobbled, sometimes functioned on auto pilot, wandered aimlessly through the days-weeks-months, struggled with some depression, drifted.
My foundation is the core of me. It's who I am. Heart and Soul. Personality. Psyche. My home. My finances. Emotionally. Mentally. Physically.
Taking care of my foundation: Putting myself first. Repairing. Rebuilding. Healing. Learning. Fixing. Cleaning out. Strengthening. Self care. Doing what makes me happy. Doing what's best for me. Living my life, my way.
Protecting my foundation: Boundaries. Limits. Saying no. Walls, if needed (to keep the toxic away). Standing up for myself. Advocating for myself.
My foundation and core needs some repair work, to help strengthen it. It will be a work in progress. One day at a time.

This year my word has been Present and it's been a perfect word for me this year! I'm exploring a few options for next year at this point ... open, joy, pause and heart are all fluttering around in my mind. I haven't settled on anything but those are pulling at me now. The word that I'll ultimately land on will probably start making itself clear in December as that's what tends to happen!

I have decided on hygge. I know its not English. I know that it is probably no longer en vogue. My son, his wife, and their two dogs are going to be moving back home in a few months. I am not sure how long they will be there, or where they will be going next. I want to spend lots of time with them, I want my home to be cozy and welcoming to them, even though I have lived alone since that same son moved out 10 years ago. I am nervous and excited and just want everything to be great for all of us.

Right now I'm floating the idea of taking a year off from this project. I do love the finished albums but I feel like I have too many projects in the works and something has to give. We'll see.

Hi! I just saw that Ali is releasing info for OLW 2023 tomorrow. I sign up for this class every year and rarely do the prompts. I’m hoping to participate more next year. My words from the past few years have been verbs (focus, change, start) and I wanted to go with something lighter this year. I have chosen Happy as my OLW.
What does everyone think of the sneaks so far? I was disappointed to see more butterflies but like the sneak of Ali’s opening page and album.
I’m curious to see who the contributors are this year. Ali is always my favorite, but I have also enjoyed input from some of the others. There are 2 contributors who are just not my style at all and I wonder if they will be back.
Have you chosen a word? Will you be buying the new class?

My word this year is Magic, and I have enjoyed the process of finding magic in the mundane. I'm not quite ready to let go of my word. I am finishing up the November prompt and will try to get to the December prompt before the year ends.
For next year, I have been toying with three words: Mystery, Joy, and Light. I am leaning towards Light because it has a variety of meanings.
I completed my prompts in an old, unused 8 1/2 X 11 Moleskine notebook. I love the way it looks, but I'm looking forward to the reveal tomorrow. I do like butterflies, even though many of you don't care for them!
I don't think I can justify paying for both the class and the kit. It's a lot of money that I would rather spend for my regular scrapbooking. So...I have no idea what I'll do at this time.

I’m in, I think my word this year is likely going to be Glow. I’ll buy the class, not sure if I’ll buy the kit. I’m not crazy about Ali’s need to put her handwriting all over everything. I haven’t done it for probably ten years so I’m looking forward to it!

I think I heard ali say the same contributors were in for 2023- can someone share who they were (or some of them you remember off the top of your head)?

Thank you! The only name I recognized was Krystal. These classes seem Like something way out of what I would normally do but I’m ready to shake things up this year and FOCUS (my word) on my goals.

My word came to me last week and will be LESS. Less of me (weight) less stuff (clutter!) less computer scrolling (although not this board ) and less volunteering which will hopefully lead to more creativity, time, relaxation etc.

Haha. I wrote in the other thread that I adore the folio B&w daisy print. I don’t want or need a folio but I just love it. If I buy the class I’ll have access to that pattern paper though digitally, right? Maybe that can tide me over. I also really want the dang sticker label sheet though. I wish the items in the kit were a la cart instead.

It feels like I haven't been on the boards like forever... I had two words for this year with my main word being LESS accompanied by MORE. It went all well till abt mid/end March. My father was most of the year in and out of hospitals, which resulted in me flying a couple of times to Germany, working from there and taking care of my father was not easy. In November my father passed away. Needless to say MORE stress was the dominant situation this year. For next year I was thinking to just keep my word combination (has anyone ever done a word two years in a row?) but I already have 3.5 months finished.. Then I was scrolling through the stories revisted sale a couple of weeks ago and it came to me: I think for next year my word will be SEEK with FIND as a second. It will give me the chance to incorporated this years ideas and explore new ways too.
Also I really like the products for next year but why are there 10x8 papers and prompt papers and only a 6x8 album?

It's not easy to face the loss of a loved one, although possibly you spent more time with your father than ever before. I hope 2023 will bring less sorrow and more joy. The 10X8 papers seemed a little strange. I wonder if they had considered a 10X8 album for OLW but then tabled it since people preferred 6X8 for December Daily. I'm sure I'll be cutting up the papers or folding them over like Ali demonstrated in the video. paget, you do get the papers digitally when you buy the class.

This made me laugh!! 😂 I just bought a crap ton and telling my dh that’s a Christmas gift from him. Lol I thought I would be safe from the quarterly kits as I didn’t care for them at all last year. Ali just posted the first one…. And it’s adorable. Crap. Crappity crap. It’s probably the only good one then I’m stuck with the whole year. Someone talk me out of it!!!

I’m really excited to do this project! I’ve never done it before so I hope the shiney-newness of it doesn’t wear off too soon and I keep up with it. Although if I just to fade I’ll just remind myself how Much I spent on it and I better see it through! Lol
