Florida is lost but a bright spot is the first GenZ Congress person Maxwell Frost, a Dem for the 10th district.

Local news stations are calling the Texas governor race for Abbott. This is heartbreaking. I just don't understand people in this country. Not just Texas, but Florida, Arkansas, North Carolina... I am sure my list will grow.

Local news stations are calling the Texas governor race for Abbott. NY Times and AP have not called it yet, but it's an uphill battle for Beto, unfortunately.

So glad to hear about Wes Moore. I was worried Cox sucker (backed by trump) was going to win. I liked Hogan (republican) but he didn’t run again. I was hoping he would be the Republican presidential nominee but I don’t think that will happen anymore. His daughter Jaymi Sterling is my county’s state’s attorney, I believe. She just ousted the corrupt motherfucker that was in office for YEARS. Super bummed about Beto. 😭 I am scared to wake up tmrw and find Walker in the senate.

And surprise surprise, Arkansas stays red with Sarah Huckabee Sanders as our new governor. You have my deepest condolences. UGH. Just goes to show you, people will vote for anyone as long there is an R behind his or her name. What in the world qualifies her to be a governor??

I'm not sure if this is behind a paywall. Here's the NYT needle for control of the House & Senate. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/11/08/us/elections/results-needle-forecast.htmlRhode Island and Virginia might be indicators when they come in, probably soon. A couple of the commentators on PBS are saying Republicans are doing well, but the bottom hasn't dropped out for Democrats. Maybe Republicans will carry districts that Biden won by 5 points, but maybe not the districts Biden won by 10 points.

Probably not a good night for Trump's candidates overall.
But, DeSantis won and Trump will be motivated to try to steal his thunder.

As of now, Republicans picked up 1 net seat in the House in Florida. Florida gained 2 seats after the census.

No one locally here has called it, though Abbott is leading by a small amount with something like 21% reporting. I think Abbott will win, ultimately, but that's probably no real surprise. But I could still hope, and I can for the moment.

Oh, apparently Fox has called TX for Abbott but they're the only ones so far. Again, I do think that's the likely outcome, but no one else is saying that yet.

Overall, I don't think it's going to be a landslide for Democrats or Republicans. And so far, no major surprises.

Yeah, my gut was always Abbott winning but with it being something like 52/46 split (with a few points to others). I didn't see it as CLOSE close, but a better run for his money. I still think Beto's biggest problem is that he appeals to the younger voters, who may poll well but who - results have shown - just aren't showing up to vote in the numbers they claim they will.

Per msnbc Bobert is trailing and it’s not looking good for her because the Dem is out pacing what Biden did in 2020. Fingers crossed she gets the boot.
