I just can't get over the fact that this race is close. I know, I know, some will vote for him simply because he is a Republican, and it's the south, and I get that. But what will be so great about him being a senator? How did he even get to this point? I don't live in Georgia, so I have no idea who he was up against in the primaries--maybe that person was even worse? If you do think he will be a good senator if he eventually wins, I would honestly love to hear the reasons why.

He was a heckuva football player, but has no business being in politics. I hate to say this because he's clearly got CTE damage, but I think the GOP is deploying him as a useful idiot, much like many of their current crop of candidates only he's a BIG name and they're planning on him voting exactly how they tell him to vote.
The incumbent Senator Warnock is a minister who has been working hard for Georgia, but because there's a D behind his name, it's an automatic negative column for many Georgians.

I don't think he can make a good Herschel Walker let alone Senator. Him voting as told will be a given, but I think if he's elected, he will be caught doing something corrupt within the first year. His real and imaginary businesses will be involved somehow.

He will vote as directed.. just another GOP rubber-stamp.
He does not seem to have the ability to process what the Constitution says and his responsibility to understand his oath to uphold it. But of course, many of the GOP don't either.

Not at all. I can’t understand how republicans, particularly in the south who claim to be so religious and have “strong morals” could vote for him over a pastor who appears to be a good, smart, decent person who is working for the people.

I don't think he can make a good Herschel Walker let alone Senator. So true! I saw an interview with some of his former players and one said "everyone has a few skeletons in their closet." Well, I think when you open Herschel's closet, a whole cemetery fell out! And there is probably more to come. Let's just hope the runoff will elect Warnock and be done with this. Georgia needs to change their 50% of the vote law.

I know nothing about who he was up against in the primaries, but none of them had a chance. Walker was handpicked by TFG and his hybrid central casting/mafia approach to politics. Who looks the part and will be loyal. I wish passing a basic civics test was part of the nomination process.

Literally no one thinks he will be a good senator.
The R after his name on the ballot is 100% of this.

Honestly, I saw the title of this thread and literally I made the pfft sound (can't describe it any better) out loud. So there's my answer. Man I hope people in Georgia come to their senses before the run-off.

I saw a clip of him saying that he had a bunch of great ideas but he wasn't going to share them so anyone could steal them. Made my head hurt.

He’s a complete moron that says stupid crap constantly. I can’t believe anyone would vote for him . . . Well most of them did vote for Trump so . . .

If the “yes” response is serious I’d really like an explanation of why this person feels this way.
And I believe he’s a terrible choice and is being used by the Republican party.

This is one of the issues with idolozing people who are good at sports. It is also a great example of why you dont vote based on name recognition or incumbency.

He was up against Raphael Warnock who was elected to fill a vacant seat a year or so ago (I think). He is well spoken and intelligent from interviews I have seen. This isnt a case of holding your nose and voting for Warnock. From all evidence, he has done a great job.

Not only no, but fuck no. He is literally so dumb, I am shocked he knows how to read what they are going to tell him to do. If that twat gets elected, it just proves that people want a Republican in office not someone who truly wants to make our country better and work as a public servant.

He’s literally a brain-damaged puppet with name recognition - that was an obvious strategy.
I’m no fan of his (although I loved watching him on the football field, I’ll admit) - he’s acted like a shit human and left quite a wake of pain in his personal life, but it’s also disgusting that Republicans are exploiting what most believe to be a mentally challenged human for their political gain. Not shocking, of course - but disgusting.
Par for the course, I guess. They’re evil, hypocritical charlatans.

gawd no. how could anyone in good conscience think he is qualified to represent the will of the people? i don't have faith i could send him to the store to buy bread and not have him come back with cheese.
if you wanted purely an athlete, there is a list a mile long of more intelligent, versed, and coherent ex-athletes than him. enough to circle the globe probably.

The fact that Warnock cannot defeat a candidate as ill-qualified as Walker says a lot in regards to how unhappy many Georgians are with Warnock. Georgia deserves better than what either of these candidates offer.
I saw a story on the local news (that has been no friend to Walker) detailing the amount of campaign contributions from outside GA. The people outside of GA sure do want Warnock elected. That truly concerned me and for as much as Walker is referred to as a puppet, Warnock really isn’t any better.
It sucks that there’s no better option on the ticket to represent my state

He's a brain-damaged wife beating Republican puppet. I'm disgusted that he got ANY votes.
I didn't vote for Kemp because of the issue of abortion, but at least I feel that he has done a decent job in the past 4 years and stood up to Trump, so I'm not horrified by his win.

I do wonder if Walker has CTE. I can't come up with any other explanation. Warnock is a bit boring, but I will take boring over any day.
