Eating after 6 is never ok with me 🤣 are you a morning person? Because our house of night owls tend to eat meals later than most...breakfast mid-morning, lunch mid-afternoon, dinner between 730-830... Absolutely not a morning person. Rarely out of bed before 9.

My mom always had it at 2:00. Since I started hosting, which has been many, many years now, I always said 2:00. This year, I am changing the time to 4:00. I want to see if people will actually show up on time. I am starting drinks and appetizers at 2:00.

Another night owl here who doesn’t like to eat dinner after 7PM. 6 is my ideal time. I get hangry when we have dinner plans with friends and they want to meet at 7PM. 😆 As for the OP question, the boys are coming over around 2-3, and we’ll eat around 5-6. Just a small gathering this year. In the past, when we drove to both sides of the family, we would have lunch at 12 at one house, then dinner around 6 at another. The dinner clan has better food, so I ate light at lunch. 😆

This year we are going to my Sister in law's and meal time is 1:30ish.
When we are with my family it is usually around 2:30-3:00 as the Cowboys game starts at 3:30 and we're typically done eating by then. Dessert is usually during game.

I always aim for about 4:30 - 5 o'clock. Our normal eating time is 5:30ish.

I am a dinner guest. Dinner at 2:00pm Arrival whenever, starting in the morning. I usually arrive about 45-60 minutes prior, and stay an hour-ish after dinner. It can be a whole day and evening long thing if you want it to be, but that it too much Family time for me.
Thanksgiving is easier for me, as some toxic family members don't attend.

We usually eat around 3 or 4, depending on when the turkey is finished. Most years our only guests have been my parents and our former nanny, so time can be flexible.

I like guests to arrive around 1-2 then dinner 3-4pm. A 1-2pm dinner is too soon for me to have everything ready but I don’t want it too late because I like time for games and hanging out after dinner, even for those who have somewhere else they need to go.

Apparently we are the only people on the planet that eat at actual dinner time lol. We usually get together around 5:30 but don’t eat until about 7:30pm. We also dress up a bit. Us too, unless we get invited somewhere that has an earlier start. The first time we celebrated with DH's cousins he completely misheard/misunderstood the "dinner is at 2" part of the invite, assuming it was "come anytime after 2" and everyone was waiting impatiently when we sauntered in. It really did not occur to us that a meal would be served midafternoon.

Usually around 3-4. We usually do a late breakfast and then we can eat earlyish and have plenty of time later for pie. I stopped the whole appetizer round as I realized it was just too much.

We have done anywhere from noon to 5PM (maybe even later once or twice due to scheduling)
I would say now that we don't split time anywhere and there are only three that travel (out of 8), we have settled into around 2ish and eat a leftovers "second meal" later if we feel like it.

I would love this. My cousin hosts and this year like every year we are to be there at 4 and dinner is to be at 5:30. However, dinner is never served until 7, dessert comes out right after dinner when we don't even want it and I am rushing out the door at 9 because I have to work the next day and it's a 45 minute drive.

A million years ago, growing up on a farm, with most of the relatives being farmers, we always had Thanksgiving (or any other get-together dinner) at around 1pm. This gave us time to eat, visit, have dessert and still get to the barn for chores (cows have to be milked on a schedule!). We now have kids and grandkids and the funny thing is that we STILL have Thanksgiving at 1 or 2, even though nobody farms anymore!

We just have an ordinary meal for the 2 of us and it is at noon as usual. Even when we went all out for Thanksgiving, it was always noon. The sooner you eat, the sooner you clean up and get the rest of the day out of the kitchen.

We were always on milking time when doing extended family holidays at the farm. Easter and thanksgiving were always early. But we did did our Christmas on Christmas Eve and we didn’t do that until after the night milking, so we were eating at like 9 or 10 sometimes and not opening presents until after. It was often midnight or one before we got home. It was so nice when they stopped milking and we could be done and on our way home by 8 or 9.

We eat early as our guests are older and don’t want to drive when it’s dark. And traffic gets worse after 2 so we are eating really early. A lot of work for just a couple hours of company but it’s better than nothing.

We normally eat around 2 but DD is managing the football team this year and we have a 10am game thanksgiving day so probably closer to 6 or 7.

Everyone starts arriving around noon. We are usually eating by 1:00. Then dessert is around 3:00. We put out cheese and crackers along with other snacks at 5:30. People start heading home around 8:00. It’s a LONG day. 😬😁

We usually did 1:00 because my brother being diabetic needed to eat on schedule. He would have preferred noon, but that's a bit early for the host/hostess, but he said he could stretch it to 1, so that is what we did.

I was wondering if we are the only family who plans Thanksgiving around football. Since we grew up in Michigan, first the Lions and then the Cowboys. Every year. In fact, dinner is ideally planned for half time of the Cowboy game. Sometimes we even pause the game if that works out better.

My mom always served dinner at 1 and my mother in law always served at 6. It was perfect because we were able to enjoy both meals. Now that it’s just our little immediate family, we eat around 4.

We eat at three just so we can watch the Dallas game at four. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! Nothing beats family, food and football!

I shoot for sometime between 3 and 4. Usually closer to 4. That’s leftover from when my nephews were little and went to their mom’s house first before they spent time with our side after brother and ex SIL divorced. DH's family always ate at noon and then drug everything back out around 5 and ate again. We snack all day waiting for the meal to be ready.

We are eating around 1 pm the day after Thanksgiving since that's the only day everyone could get together. But we also have a concert in the evening, so it has to be early.
