Usually around 2-3pm. That way we can get stuff done in the morning, eat and then just hang around. People usually leave around 6-7pm and then we just relax the rest of the night.

Apparently we are the only people on the planet that eat at actual dinner time lol. We usually get together around 5:30 but don’t eat until about 7:30pm. We also dress up a bit. I was wondering about this. Is it an American thing to eat thanksgiving dinner so early? I can’t imagine eating a big dinner at noon or mid afternoon.

I invite everyone to come at 3 and let them all know dinner will be served between 3:30 and 4:00.

Usually around 3-4. We usually do a late breakfast and then we can eat earlyish and have plenty of time later for pie. I stopped the whole appetizer round as I realized it was just too much. We eat btwn 3-4 but we used to head off for pre-Black Friday sales. That was a lot of fun. Now, we eat at the same time, but I wish it was closer to 5. I feel we finish too early, and then people are usually hungry by 8-9 and once I clean up the kitchen, I really don't want people dragging it all back out.

We also dress up a bit. 7:30 would be late for me, personally to eat such a big, heavy meal, but I do like the idea of eating at actual dinner time. I'd just go for 5:30 instead.

In my family it has always been 2pm, which I don't love. I always feel like it's an incredibly long time between breakfast & the meal, so I'm really hungry as the day progresses. Yet I'm afraid to actually eat lunch or even too much of a snack ahead of time. Then they'd have dessert a few hours later, usurping dinner, and so by the time bedtime rolled around, I'd be hungry again. So basically I spent a good part of a huge eating day hungry anyway. So for 2020 when we didn't get together with anyone, we had our dinner around 5, and it was great. We got up our normal weekday time, had breakfast, had a small lunch at our normal time, and then had dinner a tiny bit earlier than usual, which helped us to be able to squeeze in one piece of pie before bedtime.
