Dolores Umbridge wore pink and had cat things.
Dolly Parton is known for her big blonde wigs and lots of make up.
I work with a woman who wears a BEBE tee shirt every day. She said she has over 200 different designs.
Do you have a personal style?
What are you known for, style-wise?
How have you cultivated it?
I literally don't, and I hate it. I don't own any clothes that I love, and don't even know what I like (comes from putting every one else first my whole life to the detriment of myself, but that's another thread)
I'm not in a place financially that I could subscribe to a clothing box like Stitchfix.
I also would rather go slow and buy piecemeal, so if I find that I don't like something, I haven't sunk all I have into it.
Any thoughts? Ideas?
Oh, also, I used to look great in jewel tones when my hair was solidly brown. Now, with so much gray, I'm not sure anymore.
If you're still with me, thank you.

I had my colours and style done years ago. I'm a Natural Gamine autumn leaf, so I'm known for wearing autumn colours all year round, almost always trousers and random small quirky details. I have a few dresses (no skirts) for Christmas parties and funerals. I've spent 26 years cultivating my wardrobe and now I've put weight on with the cancer meds, and I haven't got much that fits any more, not even footwear. I hate that. I had no idea that feet go up a size when you put a few pounds on.

I actually do ... it's strange but I have worn this for many years ... I live in Calgary so cowboy boots are acceptable everywhere ... I have been wearing cowboy boots with leggings (usually Lululemon) and a tunic, sweater or blazer and top to teach in FOREVER! I have never seen anyone dress like me ... I don't care if it is a fashion faux pas ... it's comfortable and I love it!

I feel like I don't want to be known for any kind of style. That would make me uncomfortable.

While I have my personal style I don't think it is distinct enough to be unique. But I do have clothes that I like to wear and feel good in. Clothes are definitely something that I gather over the years. I do subscribe to Stitch Fix and get a box about every 3-4 months, about one a season, and I like it.
However this past year the majority of my "new" clothes have actually come from my local Buy Nothing Facebook Group. It's a great way to get rid of items you don't want and try something new to you without a big investment. Of course you have to wait for someone to be cleaning out their own closet and for it to be your size but I think building a wardrobe is a gradual thing to begin with.

If I had to put a name to my style it would be “blend in” LOL. I wear the most generic clothes imaginable. I pretty much wear plain t-shirts and basic jeans or joggers almost every single day. Add a zip front hoodie if it’s cold. Swap out long pants for shorts in the summer. Boom, done.
About the only distinctive thing I wear are my Rocket Dog Jazzins shoes. I have a bunch of pairs in different colors and patterns because I can buy them cheap and they’re the only shoes that work well with my orthotics. I usually pick one pair to wear until they almost fall apart and then those go to the cabin to do messy work (at which point the previous pair of messy work shoes go in the trash) and I pick another pair to wear. Right now I’m wearing leopard print ones that are almost ready to be retired to the cabin and I’ll have to decide which ones to wear next.

My style has evolved over the past 10 years or so. I was ill with Cushing's disease and had to figure out how to dress (and find clothes) that would work with a non-pregnant pregnant-looking body. I had to buy virtually a whole new wardrobe which consisted of J Jill A-line tees and skinny pants or leggings in black and gray.
After that resolved, I had to figure out what my style was so I played around with different things.
What I've landed on is classic sporty/outdoor prep with a few off-brand touches: Converse sneakers, lug-sole loafers and Chelsea boots, hiking boots, punk-esque jewelry. Coastal grandma, but not bohemian. I'm not a crayon-box color, ballerina flat, cutesy-pootsy prep, but I do like the clean lines and natural fibers. I cannot resist an all-cotton striped tee shirt/polo sweatshirt and found a couple of English companies that do them so well.

I'm known at school for my many different pairs of converse sneakers and fun patterned socks. Every morning my students and I compare our socks. It's so much fun!

I don’t know that I have a particular style I’m know for, I have had people at work tell me liked “liked my style” so it must be something. Lol I just checked out last night with a stitch fix box and got a $50 referral if anyone is interested since it’s mentioned a couple times on this thread. I have more clothes than I really need so this time I just kept one shirt (29.99) that I really liked. It was a good box though. I had asked for a blazer and dress pants and high waisted jeans and they delivered all three of those plus the shirt I kept and a cute sweater. www.stitchfix.com/invite/g75ssz2mxc?pbid=15070481&sod=i&som=c

My style is what I feel looks good on me. I think I lean towards 80's classic.
Leggings or legging capris, longer-ish top or tunic (no crop tops), with a cardigan or thinner zip up hoodie. Levi's (only brand of jeans I wear), with top and cardigan, thinner zip up hoodie or casual blazer. Flats, chunky wedges, ankle boots or not sure what exactly they are called >> a black combat style boots just above the ankle, not knee high. Dresses and skirts >> Maxi dress, cocktail length swing dress, sundress, skirts are straight not "A" frame. I prefer my clothes to be more form fitting, not loose and flowy.

Yes, my Alegria shoes and my hair. I have about 30 different fun Alegria shoes. Here is what I am wearing this morning, and I always get compliments on my shoes. They say they match my personality.

I tend to wear all black with some kind of boot.
My typical work outfit is a black sheath / looser bodycon dress and a sweater, with ankle or tall boots. I guess my boots are somewhat unusual, or just more noticeable because I pair them with plain black. Multiple people stop me everyday to comment on my shoes 😅. I don't totally get it because I don't notice anyone's footwear!

I'm certainly not a fashion icon, but if pressed, I think my friends would describe my style as classic. (When I was younger, I think they would have said "Preppy.")

Pre-pandemic, I would have called it business casual. Lots of slacks and sweaters or knit blazers over nice dark jeans. Lots of dark colors because I’m big. Now, I would call it frump. I’m living in sweats 24/7. Cutoff sweats in the summer. I get annoyed when I have to wear normal clothes.

I was known for having a LOT of shoes and boots - unusual colours, a lot of suede, fun styles, a lot of beaded strappy sandals, delicious heels etc but arthritic toes have out paid to that unfortunately. I’m not sure I ever had a very noticeable clothing style though.

I have been told that I am stylish. I don’t have any items that are unique to me. I just look put together. I was in a clothes rut a few years ago and we had enough clothing stores close that I knew I would have to do a bulk of my shopping online. I started doing the Get Your Pretty On style challenges and worked on putting together a wardrobe from there. It’s fun and I like all of my clothes. I did annual memberships for a while, but now I just do the winter one because winter feels endless where I live. I highly recommend this to anyone who feels like they are in a rut.

Classic and scarves describe my style. Timeless, classic designs that last many years, and always natural fibers if possible. In high school I started wearing scarves and have built up quite a collection over the years. They are a fun way to change up the look of classic pieces.

I don’t have a “look” such as all pink or wearing cats but I do think I’m stylish and it’s funny because my friends will ask me wear I got something I’m wearing and then go buy it.
Just this past week three different friends bought something I was wearing (bought it while we were at dinner lol!). My Athleta jacket, a diamond necklace (gorgeous and fairly inexpensive with white sapphires) and then a crossbody bag I was wearing. I take it as a big compliment and think it’s kinda funny.

I call it "Late- 20th century camp counselor." Jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, ready-for-adventure shoes (sandals when it isn't raining, tennies or hikers when it's precipitating). Puffy vest or jacket for winter.
I don't wear this to work, but at all other times, this is it! If I didn't work, the above would be my uniform.

If sweats is a style, that’s me. LOL
I’ve been looking to change or find a new style. I’m short and short waisted, with no shoulders, it’s hard to find clothes that fit well. I’ve been reading skinny jeans are out and they are the ones that look the best on me. Wide leg jeans make me look even shorter. I would like to add more variety to my wardrobe, something along with the capsule wardrobe idea, so I can mix and my match or dress up or down my clothes more.

My style is mostly just acknowledging - after decades of trial and error - which styles suit my body type best and which ones I need to avoid. I look best in tailored clothes that skim the body. No collars or broad lapels, no high necklines, no details over the bust. I like trendy details but only wear trends that suit me. The best thing you can do for your style is to wear clothes that fit well.
I look best in muted warm or neutral colors and mostly stick to those; though I’m drawn to bright colors and busy patterns, they just overwhelm me.
My “signature” is my hair, which I keep in a textured pixie cut. It suits my face and hair type, and also my personality.

But outside of work, no.

I’ve been told I’m stylish - I don’t wear t shirts and only wear hoodies at home. If you catch me at home I’m almost ALWAYS in jeans, a simple tank and a plaid flannel shirt layered on top. I don’t wear my hair up much because I can’t put a riding helmet on over it 😜 For regular wear I usually have on designer jeans, a black or navy rayon (nothing too clingy but NOT oversized) and a cute sweater or top layered on. I don’t like anything long or baggy. A scarf if I want a lazy way to look dressy. Earrings definitely and I do love wrap bracelets for an extra touch. Almost always Dansko shoes or once in awhile tall black boots with a skirt. My two twenties daughters often borrow my clothes and seem to approve my “style” lol so guess I’m good to go.

my thing is fitted jeans, cute boots and with an interesting/stylish top. i love 3/4 length coats with different scarves - patterns/fabrics/colours. i live in canada so that is great for fall, winter and early spring. late spring and into summer - i am a bit of a loss. now that i have gained weight... uhh... it's harder to find things that i feel like i good in.

Lazy frump probably describes it best. I wear t-shirts and pants/shorts/skirts. If it's chilly I throw on a cardigan. And I mostly wear sneakers. I just don't feel like clothes ever fits me very well. I like a classic/preppy look.

I look a bit like I fell out of the Talbots catalog. I'm fairly traditional but I am trying to add more fun jewelry and accessories. I kept some of my Mother's things and she was very stylish so I'm trying to incorporate them into my wardrobe.
For example, last week we were out of town and I wore a new red puffy vest from Talbots over a black/cream flannel shirt from Land's End, leggings and my short boots. On the vest, I pinned a very large crystal snowflake pin that had been Mothers. It had been an annual collector's pin from a costume jewelry collection. I carried a nice handbag of hers and I thought it looked classic with a little punch.
