...does your mind immediately go to Covid? I had one last evening. Since that was the only symptom when I had Covid in October, I was a tad worried. I sucked on a Sucrets when I went to bed and this morning all is well. But I have a feeling that little bit of fear will always be there. Though the fear doesn't affect the way I live.
ETA: I agree with all of you who say you immediately think allergies. That's what I thought it was in October. Until it wasn't and I tested positive 3 days later.

I have a sinus infection right now. Yes, it's the first thing that crossed my mind. Multiple tests later, still negative. But yes, it crossed my mind.I think more so because I've never had COVID. I've been thinking lately that my luck's gotta run out soon. If not, I need to go buy a lottery ticket. 😂

We all have Influenza A here. We all came down with “colds” at WDW and tested a number of times for COVID - all negative. We got home at 4 this morning and when ds #2 woke up at 2 pm, he was running a 103 degree fever. We took him to urgent care and he came up positive for influenza A, so we probably all have that. The flu is awful here this year - I’m guessing I brought it to my family from my students who have been coming to school sick.

We all have Influenza A here. We all came down with “colds” at WDW and tested a number of times for COVID - all negative. We got home at 4 this morning and when ds #2 woke up at 2 pm, he was running a 103 degree fever. We took him to urgent care and he came up positive for influenza A, so we probably all have that. The flu is awful here this year - I’m guessing I brought it to my family from my students who have been coming to school sick.
My nephew had it and when his mom got sick the following week she assumed that was what she had as she had the same symptoms - nope Covid. So you just never know. She tested negative for covid the first day but the second tested positive - she knew someone at work that had it and must have gotten it from her vs her son that she had been taking care of for a week. Both seem to be going around but flu seems to be more common.
I admit if I feel anything I think Covid and I have never had it. Its usually allergies that makes me feel a bit sick and I take a dose of emergent C and then feel fine the next day but you just never know. With so many sick right now its hard to not thing is this going to turn into something more.
Sorry you are all sick and hope you recover quickly.

That's a tough symptom- could be a cold, could be allergies, could be flu, could be Covid.
I think you just have to wear a mask and stay away from people until you know for sure that you arent contagious.

I so rarely have a scratchy throat, and I did have one as my first covid symptom in September that yes -- I will think of Covid next time I get a scratchy throat!

Yes, as soon as I get the slightest tickle in my throat, I think it could be Covid, and I take a test. I do get hay fever, but never a sore throat with hay fever. I haven't had Covid but the rest of my family have, and a sore throat was the first symptom.

Absolutely yes. I know my "super dodger" status is soon to expire. Any sniffles, scratchy throat or sneezes I immediately think are covid.

My first thought is always raw throat from hacking up chronic post nasal drip. I always feel like I have a hunk of sinus gunk stuck in my throat, therefore am always trying to clear it out of my throat. When I do it too much, my throat gets raw and irritated.

No, because I sleep with my mouth open and now have a cpap so it's just a constant stream of air. It was really bad just before thanksgiving because I'd run out of distilled water for the humidifier part of the cpap and kept forgetting for about a week.
I had strep a lot as a kid, so that is usually my first infection concern. Otherwise, it's nearly always just a dry throat.
Coughs, on the other hand...

Yes it does...because it has to.
As a nurse I can't go to work with covid, so any cold-like symptoms I do a test so that I (to the best of my ability) never to go to work and infect our patients.

The sore throat I had when I got COVID was very distinctive. I get a scratchy throat often due to allergies and sometimes colds but that was on a totally different level. But yes, anytime I have cold symptoms I start thinking of COVID

I have tested 3 times with a scratchy throat that lingered. Both at home and at clinic tests and always negative.
All occurred during my allergy seasons (spring into early summer and mid/late fall).
If it wasn't during those times, I may have thought Covid right away.

Yes. Because of my TMJ, I sometimes get pain around my tongue and throat. So I have to stop and see if it feels like soreness from clenching my teeth or if it hurts to swallow. But my first thought is always, 'is this the beginning of Covid?'

It's not the first thing to come to mind, but eventually I think it. Usually when I get a sore throat, I'm more worried about it turning into a chest cold. I am very prone to pneumonia and bronchitis, so I worry about that a lot more.

It’s traumatizing, actually. I’m immunocompromised because of meds that I take so I’m deathly afraid of getting it right now. My leukocyte levels are so low I can’t get the most recent booster for at least another few weeks (my numbers have to go up). God forbid I have a stuffy or runny nose…. Or sneeze. Or feel fatigued. Or something tastes funny. When I had Covid a few months ago I thought it was allergies. I tested negative for days straight until one day I didn’t. Life with Covid always being in the back of my mind sucks. |

Both DH and I tested negative for the first couple days of our symptoms. The third day is when the positive popped up. I haven't been sick since before the whole pandemic thing happened, so this is what I will contribute a tickle in my throat to. I do sometimes wake up in the morning with a slight sore throat due to snoring... At least I can say that Covid wasn't really that bad for me. No fever, no loss of smell/taste. Just a bad cold. I'm so sorry. I hope you all feel better soon. My DS started with a super sore throat, he even lost his voice. But 2 covid tests - he's negative. I think he has the flu. |

Yes, I do, and I immediately take a rapid test because I don't want to be a vector if I am positive. DH brought home some weird 2-day virus that he then gave to me. I was sure it was Covid, but we both tested negative and then our major symptoms except cough disappeared in 2 days. Worst headache of my life, low grade fever, massive fatigue.
Sorry to those of you suffering from the flu. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.
