I normally make buckeye balls to hand out at work. I have a new job this year and my boss eats very healthy and I know she won't eat them if I give them to her. I thought about giving them anyway, I know she could give them to her husband or kids, but it seems rude to give something I know she will just give away.
I'm not a good cook, which is why I loved the buckeye balls. I'm looking for a new easily made in large quantities holiday treat to pass out. She doesn't eat chocolate or anything sugary. The other option is to give the buckeye balls to everyone else and pick out something yummy from the local health food store for her. Would that be too weird?
Recipes or advice?

I would stick with YOUR tradition of doing the buckeye balls. Treats are just as much a tradition to people as decorations and such. It's who you are. I wouldn't think twice about it if it were me.

How about homemade granola? There are tons of recipes out there, but they aren't really more than baking in the oven. Or even something Chex party mix?
We love the party mix in my family. My mom makes it and everyone gets their own bag...otherwise people pick out the good stuff. LOL

How about seasoned/spiced nuts? I don't eat sweets either but am always snacking on pecans and almonds. I made some cinnamon candied pecans for people who do eat sugar but also made some spicy roasted pecans for myself. Present them in a beautiful tin and call it done.

I gave my dh's and dd's physical therapists a basket with tangerines and a large pecan tin with a note that said "ORANGE you glad to have NUTTY patients like us?". ETA: I'm in a medical field and it's crazy how many sweet treats we get. We love anything with fruit or nuts to help balance it all.

I would make what I normally make and if she doesn't like it, I would pick something out just for her ... Probably not food since she eats differently that what you like to make.

Not perfectly healthy but how about the cinnamon/spiced pecans...you roll them in egg white and then shake them in the mix of sugars then bake. Recipe on allrecipes.com. They are always a hit, and easy!!

I also wouldn't eat buckeye balls (though I would appreciate the gesture) - but I would like coffee or homemade got cocoa mix.

Does she drink coffee or tea? How about a nice Christmas, blend from Starbucks w/a couple mugs or some interesting brews from a tea shop?

Great ideas! I love the seasoned nuts and it sounds easy enough for me.

Even health-nuts sometimes splurge around Christmas.

I'm glad you're going with spiced nuts, because I wondered whether you'd thought about the flip-side of your dilemma:
Hand out buckeyes to everyone, including boss. Boss throws them away/gives them to her family. OR Hand out healthy snacks to everyone, to placate boss. Boss likes healthy treat, everyone else tosses theirs and wishes for buckeyes.
But I think seasoned nuts are special enough that everyone will enjoy them. Let us know what recipe you go with and how they like them!
