I was thinking earlier today about things I want to learn in 2023. Most of my items are pretty straightforward, but I get overwhelmed with picking who to go to for the information.
Maybe if we all list things we'd like to learn, someone else could know of a source to direct the poster to so they can learn.\
I'd like to learn:
-how to video quality videos so I can create on you tube. But knowing how to get my set up right is overwhelming. -how to print and cut. This has been an item on my wish list for so long, but never have taken the time to learn.

I would like to learn how to crochet. I know there are a ton of videos put there, I just need to make the time. I would like to learn more about print and cut too.

I have the We r memory circle spin cutter. I would like to be more proficient when using it.
Just my personal opinion: I have figured out, it works best with really thin paper. I got it in fall of 2019. I like the final result, but its been a lot of trial and error (and some wasted paper) to figure out how to use it and have it cut smoothly. It definitely requires an extreme amount of patience, when attempting to use it. YouTube videos make it look easy. But.....sliding a blade in a groove, is not as easy as it looks.

I have become obsessed with stop the blur memory planning. That’s what I want to learn. It’s a very new style for me.
I also would love to learn better video as well. I want to do more reels. If I weren’t terrified of my own voice I would try YouTube. I actually have some professional goals outside of scrapbooking and think this would help with that. I’m terrible at presenting and freeze up. But I’m not going that far. Interesting reels would be good enough.
I’m getting a scan and cut. I also want to learn that sooner (like next week)

I want to learn to color better with my Copics. I'm waiting for Jenn Shurkus to offer some online classes.

-how to print and cut. This has been an item on my wish list for so long, but never have taken the time to learn. I waited until I retired to learn the more complicated Cameo stuff. I’ve been working on print & cut now that I have time to focus on it but I really need to work on my Pixscan mat skills. I’m not a fan of fussy cutting so this skill would really help. I also want to learn point editing but I think that will be tough.

I’d like to learn proper cross stitch. I bought supplies a few years ago, but never started up with any of it.
What I need most of all is to learn to make the most of my free time. At the moment I have a lot of it, but it’s very fragmented and I’m not good as using small blocks of time efficiently.

I want to get better at using the equipment I have, especially Silhouette and Glimmer foil system. Need more patience and a lot more practice.
Layered stencils look fun. Would like to try some of those techniques.

I want to learn to color better with my Copics. I'm waiting for Jenn Shurkus to offer some online classes. I have seen a couple of card makers recommend copic colouring classes by www.kitandclowder.com/markers101. They offer free classes on their website so you can try before you buy, and I can’t see why their tips and tricks wouldn’t work for other alcohol markers pantsonfire

At the moment I have a lot of it, but it’s very fragmented and I’m not good as using small blocks of time efficiently. Cross stitching is such a fun hobby, it’s something I started as a 12 year old (self taught as my mother has not got a crafty bone in her body!) and have never stopped from then. I love it as I can “watch” tv while I stitch so both my brain and hands are getting exercised during a normally very passive and brain numbing time. I would recommend smaller kits like card kits as they are easy to keep track of where you are up to and you can show off your handiwork to other people. I then moved to bookmarks, and slowly progressed to larger kits and more intricate designs as I got better to the point I have completed a couple that took hundreds of hours of stitching (like this one troveartsandcrafts.com/products/copy-of-teresa-wentzler-lady-of-shalott-cross-stitch-kit-2Can’t recommend any YouTubers etc (sorry!) as I just do it! Bonus is that I’ve just discovered some very fine pre punched Aida cardstock on a craft site that I’ve been stitching to use in my December daily this year.

lg Would you post a link to the pre-punched Aida cardstock? I've tried Google and get lots of options, but not what I think you are talking about?

I would like to get better at layering stamping, ala Heidi Swapp. As I thought about it, I think I will assemble a little mini stamping kit. Some paper, an assorted stamp, a few colors. That way I can bring that in front of the TV set and play/practice with that instead of mindlessly playing a game on my phone.

There's a few things I want to learn/work on:
1. Using my wide format printer: It's been mostly unused so I am expecting some calibration issues and then learning how to get the color correct so I can print 12x12 pictures. 2. Cameo 4: I am upgrading my original cameo to the Cameo 4. There are some bells & whistles I am excited to learn plus using the pixscan mat. 3. Needlepoint/needle crafts: I ordered a kit last year so it's on my list for things to work on/learn.

not so much learn new things so much as continue to improve with older things...my cricut for instance, stamping/stencilling (I took a class this year but more practise would be good), colouring with my alcohol markers...

I was reluctant about learning to print and cut -- but now that I've seen how easy it is, I was buying print and cut files like a mad woman. I read the Silhouette School blog - and did the "short cut" of "command M" (on the Mac) - that turns the registration marks on and off in the design space. I dragged the new design on to the design space (I started with a "mini-boxes" design from Design Bundles - it was a pgn file), clicked command M and the registration marks came on, I moved the files around to where I needed them (Making sure EVERYTHING was inside the restrained space), sent to PRINT (from inside the design program), stuck the printed sheet on to a matt, then into my machine as usual, sent to print (making sure the "cut" was on) -- and bedabing -- there it was. It was truly very simple -- I do have the "designer edition" on my Cameo 2. Good luck!

I want to learn to use the "foil quill" on my Cameo.
And I need to decide about duplicate bridge -- or just bridge in general. I've been taking classes, but it is just a "memory system" -- at least none of the teachers have been able to explain "why" on most of the points - just that "this is the system" ....

I also want to learn foil quilling on my Silhouette. I need to learn to make time to do fun things, like playing with my supplies! My kid is in school most days until 2 so I have time during the day to craft but I always manage to fritter away my time between chores and watching Youtube videos. My goal is to play with my supplies 2 mornings a week, wish me luck!

I would like to learn how to crochet. I know there are a ton of videos put there, I just need to make the time. I would like to learn more about print and cut too. I really hope you will learn how to crochet! If you need patterns, I have bunches of free, beginner-level and easy-level patterns you are welcome to use. What types of projects are you interested in making? If I have any patterns like that, or know of good ones, I will link you up with them. I do have free learn-to-crochet tutorials, too, but honestly, the easiest thing is to find a teacher who can help you in real life. Videos work, too -- a lot of people do learn from them successfully.

My parents used to love to go to auctions, my father passed this fall and my brother was going thru a bunch of boxes of things they bought - there was a 1929 sock knitting machine in the original shipping crate and with all the instructions. I want to figure out how to use it and make some socks for next Christmas.

I've had learning how to better use my cameo on my to do list for the past several years. Perhaps 2023 should be the year I actually do it?

I need to learn how to use all my new holiday toys -- stamping platform, (manual) die cutting machine, and Breville countertop oven with air fry function!
I need chicken wings...!
(for the air fryer, not the crafting tools, LOL)
