jediannie now I've only been doing PL since 2021 and I tend to keep up with it pretty well. I do by month too, not by week. But I use a process similar to Chinagirl828. I print all my photos. Horizontal always get printed to 4x6 and vertical always get printed to 3x4. I don't mess around with other print sizes unless I have a square meme or something square I'm trying to include. I lay out all my photos and then decide which style page protector. Once I've got my photos placed, I decide where I need journaling. I determine if a spot needs a block of journaling (a whole card) or just a spot like a label or something. And I add those in. And then I add in other cards and embellish. I used a kit from freckled fawn each month so I'm not often digging for supplies either. I keep other embellishments to one iris case. And I keep extra cards to one of those scrapbook.com card holders. I go through these periodically and purge supplies. Keeping it small like that means my pages come together very quickly.

I think I’m done with project life. I started back in 2011 or 2012. Documented 5 years before burning out. Skipped a year then started doing monthly. That was better but now I’m back to not wanting to do it. It’s almost September, I have documented birthing for 2023. I have so many other memory keep projects to fill my time. WITL, DITL, December Daily, 12x12 albums, travel albums. I bullet journal and junk journal. There just isn’t enough time. The hangup, I really love getting my monthly documenter kit from studio calico. 😂 I totally feel this. I love PL and the finished project so much but it takes up so much of my limited scrappy time that I can’t get to all the other projects I do (or want to do). I’m currently trying to print my photos at the end of each month as that seems to be the most time consuming thing for me. We’ll see if that works. Also considering doing it completely digital next year in the PL app. And I’ve been thinking about buying mini book project kits instead of trying to come up with my own designs for stuff. I’m just feeling the need to simplify as much as possible during this phase of life in order to complete anything. But I also have FOMO and want all the things 😂

I can't believe I've managed to get back the groove but I just finished printing all the daily journaling for July in my memory planner. I have also done all of September until yesterday. Just need to go back and check what's missing for August. I've pulled out the tiny word stickers and stamps for tonight's bit of batch-documenting fun. I've decided to only do PL memory planner-style for now. I can't be bothered to get into cards, page protectors and whatnot for the rest of the year. I'm considering only doing memory planner for next year as well. This project is so time-consuming and I don't want it to become a chore (again) so I'm sticking with the format I'm enjoying at the mo'. Hoping to get all the photos printed, cut and stuck down this weekend.

Awesome sleepingbooty! The people I know who've changed over to memory planning are very happy they changed because they say it's a lot faster than PL. I like the idea of memory planning but since I have so much PL stuff I feel like I can't get into another different type of documenting until I whittle my stash down. I'm slacking all over the place these days but today I have extra time so I am working on photo editing and might actually get a couple of spreads done. 🤞🏻

I like the idea of memory planning but since I have so much PL stuff I feel like I can't get into another different type of documenting until I whittle my stash down. I did my first memory (Happy) planner in 2016 and I loved the format straight away. I've done both monthly PL (+ big stories) and memory planner several years but I'm skipping going out of the memory planner for now. I've also returned to "scrappy journaling" in a Happy Notes notebook last week and had forgotten how fun, quick and easy it is. I run the paper through the printer, get some stickers and die-cuts out, stamp a little, print some small photos, maybe add a strip of PP And not only is it done, it's been manageable fun. I understand your reluctance to start afresh since your "traditional" PL stash is big but if you can pick up the planner of your choosing for memory-keeping on the cheap at some point, give it a try. It's very liberating. I'm surprised Ali Edwards hasn't found someone to demonstrate a very in-depth One Little Word project with a memory planner (granted, that'd be major dedication to OLW but it'd be very cool to see).

When I was getting back into scrapping after a decade plus hiatus, my method of choice was PL in a memory planner. It was very accessible and fun. I did quickly grow to want capture more in my week though and felt limited. But that’s because scrapping was fresh and exciting again and my only project. The next year I moved into a traditional page protector PL weekly format which is what I continue to do. I do really like the memory planner option though and I’m sure I will eventually go back to that in the future but for now I’m still enjoying the bigger PL as that’s my main scrappy project.

Did anyone else notice the email from BH that we need to update the app? I don't care about being able to order, etc., but the email said we won't be able to log into the app after 9/30 if we don't update. Since I don't want to lose what I've worked on, I went ahead and updated.

I've been digging back into my PL album for this year and trying to make some progress. I'm at least two months behind in printing photos, but over the last couple of weeks I've finished several pocket pages which makes me feel less behind. I'm using all sorts of new and favourite supplies and I'm really loving how my pages are coming together, I feel like I've really found my groove with this album.
How is everyone else going? Are you happy with your progress?

I'm using all sorts of new and favourite supplies and I'm really loving how my pages are coming together, I feel like I've really found my groove with this album. How is everyone else going? Are you happy with your progress? Yay! Using loved products is very motivating! I love PL and it’s my main scrappy project so it is easy for my to keep up with it. I work in the current week in real time - so this week is almost complete. I usually finish up the last bits like some journaling and weekend stuff in the next week. That said, next year I have decided to switch my format. When I started with PL in an album (did memory planner the previous year) I did 6x12. I loved it but ran out of room and switched to 9x12. I do weekly PL. I don’t like that I need two albums for the year. I’ve decided to switch to 12x12 and do one page per week (essentially a 12x6 spread). I can supplement with an insert if needed. I really just want one PL album for the year. I will also do DD and WITL so those times will have more documenting associated with them. Also will do a 3x8 October album. I am giving up OTW. I did it for the first time this year and did not really enjoy it. That will be an easy project for me to let go. I have a travelers notebook of another subject I started and don’t ever have time to work on so giving up OLW and cutting down my PL will free up some time (but also let me continue with my favorite project). I’ll probably drop SBTM too. I don’t need so much product. I also get the story kit. I thought I would give up the kit but when I looked back through the year I see I like the kits more. I love old SBTM more but the new format is harder for me to use in project life- I “can” - I just don’t love it- chopping into the vellum pieces and directed story page… plus there is the garbage acrylic stamp. Unless Ali makes a big change again to SBTM I’ll let that go at the end of the year.

And talking about SMTM (maybe this is more of an AE thread topic), the SBTM classroom has 2/3 contributors use it for PL. So why did they change it from being a more usable pocket page kit? Ugh. Jen Wong is always having to cut crap up (like I do) to make it work. Annoying.

Yes, I’m caught up through the beginning of September with pictures and cards in pockets. I’m going to a retreat next weekend so I’m planning to be fully caught up and go back to fill in journaling.
Printing my pictures at the end of the month has been helpful. I’m also planning to give up the SBtM kit next year. I want to use my stash and agree that this years kits were more difficult to use. I will say that the SBTM sub has been the most useful sub to me overall.

My life is extra busy right now, so I came up with a routine that seems to work for me and monthly PL. I only scrapbook on weekends and holidays now. The first weekend of the month, I organize and edit photos (ugh), the second weekend I print photos and put them in the pockets. I may start choosing cards then, too. The third weekend I choose all cards, papers, and stick in any embellishment I know i want to use with a specific story. And I start journalling. The fourth weekend, I finish up.
That sounds like a chore list when I type it out, but batching it like this is the only thing that's allowed my decision-fatigued brain to stay current. I don't enjoy doing PL for long past months. Looking back at the previous month seems to be the sweet spot for me. And I love the final PL albums. I've tried to give them up, but I miss them too much.

I'm about half way through September for a weekly PL. I ran out of printer ink so I'm at a stand still. Ordered more ink from Amazon and still haven't gotten it, looks like the package could be lost but it is what it is. It's annoying that ink for my epson PictureMate is hard to find. Fingers crossed ink comes in this week!

I was feeling great about finishing volume 1 (January-June) of 2023 completely, as well as August-first three weeks of September, just as October was beginning. I was only needing to catch-up with July.
October started off with a bang, it’s a fully packed month. I knew I’d have a lot to document, but was looking forward to it! My daughter and I left 10/7 for a few days of Disneyland Halloween fun. And shortly after landing in LA, before we even reached the hotel, my husband called me in distress that our most beloved darling dog had died.
Poof. Gone is all my mojo. I’m not ready yet to go back to my scrapbook table where I know I have several photos of our sweetest flooffy girl. Sigh.

I actually completed a PL page! I did week 40 for this year and already have the photos printed out for last week (week 41). I've decided I'll try and do the most recent week and then backfill the rest of the weeks. Inky Quill (on YouTube) inspired me to "couch scrap" so I brought out a couple of kits and worked with those while sitting on my couch watching TV. I'm hoping to keep up the momentum and get this year done. 🤞🏻

Not sure if this is too early, but anyone making their PL plans for 2024 yet? I have my plans. The last two years I did weekly 9x12. I am switching it up this year to a 12x12 and I’ll do one 12x12 pocket page per week. My reasons are because I want to document a bit less this year in PL now that I also have DD and a week in the life plus I started a daily journal. And a lot because I really want the whole year in one album. It really annoys me to have two PL albums for the year - plus one album is half the price with page protectors, albums, supplies… etc. I figure I can also add a couple 6x12 inserts if I need more space on a couple weeks but I’m excited to pare down a little.

I did memory planning this year and it helped me get excited about weekly documenting. That being said I have only half the year completed and it more annoys me than excites me. These are my issues - I have no formula so it feels like it’s so hard to do the project. My supplies feel too large.
Because if that and the amount of 3x4 and 4x6 cards I have I’m returing to traditional project life. I’m going to attempt 6x8. I’m a little nervous in the small size but want something different. I still have some 2022 project life to complete at 12x12.

Not sure if this is too early, but anyone making their PL plans for 2024 yet? Not too early! I’ve been thinking about this a lot. After a few years of doing a monthly sort of flow, I wanted to do a fairly strict weekly format again in 2023. I liked it a lot for awhile, but it’s been a struggle since around August. I guess it was the return to school season kind of changed our schedule around in a way I had a hard time getting back into the groove, finally got it rolling again, and then in the beginning of October is when our dog passed, and my momentum came to a dead halt. Blah. Now I’m a couple months behind and don’t like that at all. Definitely not interested in another weekly PL. I think I’m going to take a really loose approach and do a mix of pocket pages and traditional layouts, alternative inserts, etc. Jyst do whatever feels fun. I’m toying with the idea of using 9x12, but I tried that in 2022 and haaaated it. But I have the empty albums, and I think my really terrible headspace that year was probably a huge part of the problem.

It's never too early to think about next year's documenting. Since I have tons of 3x4 & 4x6 cards I'm either going to do 9x12 double page spreads or 1 12x12 page spread. We will see how the scrappy spirit moves me in 2024. We're starting the year off with a bang with going to Disneyland so I probably won't decided until we get back from there.

I did a mass photo printing session and got all the photos done for 16 weeks. Almost ran out of paper but found a stash of 8.5x11 that I cut down to make it to the end. Today's plan is to go back and add journalling, filler cards and embellishments. It feels very therapeutic to close off this year. My plan for 2024 is still weekly but I'm mixing in 9x12 pages with 12x12 for those weeks that have less photos. I can't seem to find any PL Desgin G page protectors (my favorite) so I'll have to be intentional with those. I love them because they have 2 vertical 4x6 spots and 2 horizontal 4x6 spots.
I canceled my SC dk kit and have been trying to decide if I want to sub to another monthly kit or just make due with sales. Right now I have a backlog of SC kits that I hope to make a serious dent in.

I have 15.25 pocket pages to scrapbook and then 2023 is done.
I say .25 because the one I started last night is almost done. Just need to do 2 more pocket inserts.

I will continue with the 9x12 D-ring albums. I love the various options for pockets- from a full 9x12 to 9 3x4s.

I just have to finish up this week’s layout (half done but it’s larger with an insert due to Christmas) and then 2023 is finished. I did weekly 9x12 2 page layouts this year. Next week I am switching to a 12x12 album and I do one 12x12 page a week.

Well I managed to finish up my 2023 album! I really like the addition of the 9x12 page protectors, so I'm for sure incorporating those into next year's album. I went through all my leftover SC kits and put the leftovers into my stash and purged some stuff that I knew I wouldn't like. Now I need to clean up and reorder some photo paper to get ready for 2024.

I finished my PL 2023 last night. I flipped thru the albums, 2 12x12, and it made me happy. I have one blank photo space that needs filled in, but it feels like an accomplishment to be done. I had each month start with headlines and although I don’t want to do that in 2024, I really like having that mix…like January included Chinese weather balloon, but also, here’s a day-date dh and I went on.

I had the week off and got all of my Oct-Dec pictures printed and in the pockets. I just have to go back and add cards and journaling, etc but it’s a huge relief. I fit the year in one album which I’m happy about. My biggest obstacle with this project continues to be choosing photos. I take too many photos in a month.
