prayers for your DS angel97701 - I hope he does well. One of my grand nephews went through a similar program I think some years ago - he's now happily married with 1.5 kids and is successful in the military so it worked out well for him.

Praying for him and your family angel97701. Well I do a bit of crafting done last weekend- w PL page (for Sept 2022) and printed another two weeks of pictures. It’s been a busy time since getting back from the holiday trips. We went full force back into homeschooling, public school and all the meetings and activities. Though busy I’m trying to enjoy this season of life before it too passes. I’ll be honest that lately I’ve been missing having them all little so I’ve been so glad I have the scrapbooks to look through.

angel97701, sending many prayers for Pete. This sounds like it could be the very thing that will turn him around and make him proud of himself. All kids need to see themselves succeeding in reaching goals and he will have lots of goals in this program. Prayers for you and DH also as you walk this path with him. boymom5 , I remember those very busy times with kids growing up and all involved in various activities. How I miss the little ones, and yet they make me tired quickly now. Enjoy that time. It passes so quickly and they leave home to begin adult life. You should have lots of photos to scrap. Do you do them all in PL style? Linda , I'm glad to hear that you are doing PT on your knees. Virtual PT! Before Covid I'd never heard of such a thing. Have you finished the book you got for Christmas? joyfulnana , did you get the car fixed or is it too cold to work on it outside. I'm glad you aren't worried about commuting to work each day. Good luck on the fixing. I have been doing deep cleaning in my scraproom and right now it looks worse than when I started. I am pulling out everything and purging. Last night I ignored the mess and worked on pages. I forgot how relaxing it is to me.

LOL nylene - the deep cleans *always* reach a point of "what have I done? " don't they! We need to do a basement deep clean, but if we're thinking of moving this year, it might as well wait until we have a dumpster outside the door angel97701 - hugs to you today, I'm sure you are already missing DS and anxious about how he's settling in. Like nylene said, I hope this program gives him a sense of accomplishment and success! Sounds like you are having to navigate many different systems boymom5! It must be hard to keep up. Tonight I aim to finish my sketch example for tomorrow, and I'm busy working on a costco photo order. I have 2 weeks until they close and plan to make the best use of it I can!

Have you finished the book you got for Christmas? I haven't yet - I actually got 4 - one for Christmas from DD22 and then a trilogy from DH in the book exchange - I'm about halfway through book 1 - it's really interesting but not a quick read. I have been reading on my kindle also though so I have finished some ebooks.

I did PL style for just a few years (2015, 2020-2022) and now I'm going back to the traditional 12x12. It was nice to PL for awhile and it accomplished what i wanted, but I've missed the creativity I can have with the larger pages. I hope you're making progress with your room and pages!

No crafting today, but enjoyed my time on Sunday with the crew and made two valentine cards! Yeah me!
News on DS: A post on FB states they have 165 candidates in his class. No news is still good news.
BUT at home DS's dog (he was her human) has made herself sick because he is gone. Official Diagnosis today at the Vet was Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis, stress induced. Poor girl! Totally treatable. She stopped eating on Friday, bloody stools yesterday. Love our Vet and have her on the right track.
So I will be a doggie nurse for the next few days to get her digestive track back on track. She actually ate about 1/3 of a cup of beef flavored rice cereal. Vet said to be creative and feed her in small amounts.
Need to go do some "moving chore" so I can say I've worked on something every day!

Just checking in with the Crafty Crew. I used the January Sheetload of Cards to make some lemony cards, and I got my pictures and put them in the pockets. Now to add some insert cards and do just a smidge of embellishing. No volunteer job Monday so DH and I went to Barnes and Noble because I had a gift card. I got a United Kingsdom papercrafting magazine. Those are always fun because they have paper or stamps or dies in them. One die was half a snowflake - the examples were whole snowflakes. I'm still trying to figure out how that works. Then I got inspired by one of the cards and I have some Ranger texture paste in my cart. Have any of you used that? Does it crack off if you put it on too thick and bend the card too much? angel97701 Jan 11th came yay! nylene my favorite organizing method is to get it all out, evaluate it and put it back thoughtfully so I think you are on the right track. boymom5 also transitioning here - the pocket pages I mention above I intend to be my last for awhile. I'm looking forward to 28-4-28 to spark some page creativity.

I also did the January SLOC and made some Valentine's day cards. I've also broken out an old MFT card kit MFT Friendship Card Kit and started to make some cards with it. Hope to finish those up this week and be able to share. Off to figure out where/how to post our points. Any tips for how you all keep track of them? I've printed out the challenge list and it is a bit overwhelming (and inspiring) with all the options. :-)

cmpeter My process is to share the project on the sharing thread and then open up my challenge points post for editing. I'll add the name of the project, the size based points and the sharing/making points and then read my way down the challenge list ticking off the challenges I have met on that project that I hadn't yet met this month and adding 1 point for each. I'll add another point for each photo (Donna Challenge) and if my project met one of the other monthly challenge (like the card challenge), grab those points. Add up the total project points and type that next to the name of the project. Once a month, I'll total them all up. so for example - Project 1 is a 8.5x11 layout that I shared and that has 3 photos and met 2 unmet challenges my points post would look like this (without the words in parentheses) while I'm adding up: Project 1 = 20 (size) +1 (making) +1 (sharing) + 3 (photos) +2 challenges and then it'll look like this: Project 1 = 27

Off to figure out where/how to post our points. Please don't feel like you need to keep a visible list of your points, you can just give me a total at the beginning of April and track points however you wish. This quarter, my process is: 1. all my layouts are on flickr. At the end of March, I'll count them and claim 22 points each (if shared on the boards, 21 points if not shared). I will also then count how many photos I scrapped and take 1 point each as per the Donna challenge. 2. my cards will also be on flickr (if I create any...it is a goal!) - 12 points each (if shared, 11 points if not shared, 10 points for each duplicate) 3. I have a paper list of the challenges. After each layout/card, I tick off challenges met (that don't already have a tick mark...duplication doesn't count anymore). I will count tick marks at the end of **EACH MONTH** At the end of the month, we get ONLY 1 point per challenge we've done, but the BONUS CHART is where the big points will come from! And the ticks reset each MONTH so we need to add them up monthly. Now that we're mid way through January and I've ticked off the "easy" challenges, I'm finding that I refer to the challenge list before I start a new layout so that I can get more tick marks - things I wouldn't normally go for (like buttons) but will actually take on as a challenge!4. keep track of hours crafting or organizing - I just have a sheet of paper and I scribble down how many hours I was doing crafty/organizational stuff each time - at the end of March, I'll claim 10 points/hour (20 points/hour if in a online or in-person group) 5. Check in on "special challenges" like Donna themes, or sketchy saturday - and claim appropriate points. I'm trying to play with them more. They are also worth a "tick" on the challenges list, so if you are trying to reach a bonus level, doing a Donna theme or a sketch may help achieve the next level!

Speaking of creating - what's your most recent purchase??? I just got the "gamer" collection from Photoplay and...confession... I ordered it, forgot I ordered it, and so ordered it again because it was a "must have" for me. So I'm gonna have 2 collection packs worth Is anyone on a freeze? I'm not, BUT I did survive a challenge to my senses when I saw the Gemini Jr Foil Machine was back in stock at SB.com... I almost bought it... and didn't! I have avoided the foil craze because while I think it's gorgeous I don't make enough cards to support the purchase of machine + plates + foils. It's so ease to cave and the old FOMO hits hard.

kitbop - I'm on a freeze but that Gamer collection is on my wishlist. All I've bought this year were some albums (at 40% off with a gift card) and some adhesive (with a M's reward certificate it was just over $2 oop). I do have a list going though but I'm being selective about what goes on it - I really have too much paper, too many collection packs, and too many unused stamps and dies and embossing folders. This weekend'll be a scrappy one for me. I'm joining the online Scrap Squad crop. Sunday is dh's birthday but other than a nice dinner and ice cream cake, he doesn't have any plans.

Well . . . still no phone call from Oregon Youth Challenge Program . . . but of the 7 letters, 6 are begging to come home and giving reasons why he shouldn't be there. We are able to send daily emails, and send him snail mail so far once a week. We've reached out to others to write him an email. All of his letters are from the first 7 days of "boot camp" do everything by the count. No talking, but he still knows that most of the others are drop-outs, and have used more drugs then he has. We are looking at it from the standpoint that it is "childish" take on things that has him so miserable. I am sure his FASD brain is not computing the real reasons why he is there at OYCP. Reading his letters are heart breaking, but we are strong on encouraging him to finish the program. As a mom I am still angry at the school district for letting him get to the point of near expulsion and needing to go to OYCP. But that is my emotions speaking.
I subbed 1/2 day at his HS yesterday, only one hard class, and the rest open because of a special schedule for a survey. I took the parent version and was not happy with the type of questions they asked. Did not focus on the real issues of drug use, bullying, etc. I did get to pick up his ceramics projects, and drop off some of my Japanese trinkets with the Japanese teacher.
DH and I went to the Senior night wrestling match. Our team is doing great, and are set to do well throughout the season. DS17 would not be wrestling varsity as there are at least 2 kids who are ranked in the top 20 in the state . . . . But it was good to see several generations of wrestling families. Those who had wrestlers that were DS23 age.
Crafting? Stuck on a card I need to get done for my JFF design team. Packing? Started the Lego room, but had to go buy more packing supplies, plastic wrap and bubble wrap! Looked at another 2 homes on the lake this week in photos, but since our house isn't on the market yet, it is about a month too early. Work day in the Lego room planned, then maybe some crafting.
Oh and Artemis is on the mend. She was diagnosed on Monday with stress induced Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis, very sick! But recovering well. Still on bland foods, but has most of her energy back. Still on antibiotics, anti nausea, and probiotic.
Without question I am on a freeze, don't even have time to think about "latest and greatest".
Points, I follow kitbop general plan.
Hope everyone has a productive weekend!

cmpeter your SLOC was cute! I haven't figured out points yet. I'll do that around the start of February I guess, to keep caught up a month at a time Linda so happy for you that you are having a scrappy weekend. I finished 2 out of 5 pages of my December 2022 pocket pages yesterday. I set up a card table in the family room but space is limited so I took it back down before bedtime - I'm hoping to set back up later today. angel97701 you have a Lego room? That's awesome. My daughter and I put a small set and a medium set together at the end of December - very enjoyable time. Continued prayers for your DS. kitbop I'm not on a freeze per say, but we are naturally frugal here. It's one of our areas of highest compatibility. I did get some carstock at Jo-Ann Fabrics because I need to make about 25 valentine's. Thank you for your suggestions on how to handle points.

Good job getting pages together, hopefully you can squeeze in more time (and space) today as well. Today is DH's birthday but he doesn't have any plans beyond dinner and an ice cream cake so I should still get some scrappy time

Sorry to have been MIA. It's been a rough few days. The weather has been rainy and stormy but thankfully no damage to our house or yard. Ken has been ill with a cold or allergies or flu or all three. Whatever it is includes runny eyes and nose and headache. I did some scrapping on Saturday. Finished a couple that I'll post later. Yesterday I did one and kitted up a couple more. Then I went to my daughter's house for dinner and football. Both dinner and the game were good ;-) Sorry joyfulnanaCame home and Ken fell ----- AGAIN. Head, shoulder and side this time. So - at 8AM this morning I was at the doctor's office. If you heard a rumbling noise and a saw a black cloud from the west coast that was likely me. I might have said things like lack of care for the elderly and frail. May have thrown in something about who is running the ship when it comes to coordination of care. Someone in the room said how inexcusable it is to tell a guy that the dizziness he is having could be caused by a lack of blood flow to the brain, then cancelling the diagnostic appointment. Maybe a phrase or two about appointments being cancelled without notifying the patient. Now I'm waiting for a call from patient advocacy. I was proud of myself though. I didn't cry - - or swear!! Hopefully I can get on a crop and chat this coming weekend

gramma Good for you for advocating for Ken! Yes, we must do so for our loved ones, and being the vocal and not just standing by is often what is needed. Congrats on holding your own both in words and tears! Prayers and virtual hugs!
Well . . . got our first really positive, upbeat letter from our candidate at OYCP today! We figure the riff raff has been sorted out of the program, as those who were not serious quit, and others got kicked out for violence. He still has until Friday until he finishes the toughest part of the program, the pure boot camp portion. Believe me the letter made this Mama's heart happy.
Landscapers came today to do yard and property clean up. The front looks really good! I am so glad DH thinks the price is reasonable too, and that I am not doing it myself!
Packed out my breakables and valuable in my master bedroom today. Did framed photos yesterday. So slow but sure headway to get the house ready to show. I get a email newsletter from a state senator and he linked to a report that said Oregon is either worst in the nation or in the top three for drug abuse!!!!!!! Yep, time to high tail it out of this state for DS's sake and so DH can sail more and I can watch the water from my kitchen!
Take care everyone!

gramma , I am so sorry about Ken. Please keep advocating for him. I'm sure he is discouraged with the dizziness all the time. Hugs to both of you. Have they scheduled him for any diagnostic procedures. You are in my prayers. kitbop , I keep forgetting to check in here. I keep up with Pokey Peas and try to keep up with Sharing and Gallery and forget there is another thread. I am not just ignoring you, I promise. Thank you for taking the responsibility to host us this quarter. You are a keeper! angel97701 , I'm glad to hear that there is some good news on your DS. Maybe this is just what he needed to see himself be successful in something and realize that he can set and achieve goals. You and your DH have been troopers, keeping him going. Hugs. Linda , happy belated birthday to your DH. I am not on a freeze, but am a very frugal scrapbook shopper. New lines always look great to me but I have so much paper that I can never use it all, so I resist. I don't usually buy embellishments because I make my own using my Silhouette. So, I spurge once in a while on some small thing, but that's about all. My last purchase was a 6x6 Fish Are Friends pad that I loved on Linda 's pages. I have enjoyed using it. My money goes to adhesives, binders and page protectors. I could scrap for 100 years with what I have in this room! LOL

gramma - I'm so sorry for all your worries and fights and bearing all of that for Ken too. You go get 'em! We're here when you have time to share. angel97701 - did a little happy dance for you! Counting down until Friday. nylene - nice to have you on our team! Your pages always look so "complete" you really don't need the "stuff's" because you make more beautiful and meaningful embellishments yourself. I think your version of our hobby is more true and honest than many of us who use commercial "stuff"!!!

I am not on a freeze, but am a very frugal scrapbook shopper. I could scrap for 100 years with what I have in this room! LOL Me too!!!! I will have to pack all mine soon!
To everyone, thank you for being my non-judgemental supportive scrappy friends through the trial and tribulations of the past few years! It is such a breath of fresh air to have DS in a safe place sounding positive and making goals. My heart was breaking for him the first days, he was so miserable, but praise God he has persevered! Another positive letter today, and it was his platoon's day for Challenge Adventure. They actually were allowed to speak to each, introduce themselves, play get-to-know-you games, have fun, laugh and do team building. His platoon broke the long standing record in keeping a large ball in the air . . . previous record was 320 lofts, DS's platoon, 1st Platoon of Class 65 at OYCP (drum roll please!) 449!!!!! So proud of them! They were very jazzed according to the OYCP post. I can imagine! May have to scrap this before he gets home with a screen shot from FB!!!!!
Still more packing on my agenda, and a virtual walk through for another lake home. The landscapers finished the clean up on our property. So happy to have it done, the yards, and property look great! Now to get the handyman in to do the small repairs, and more packing. Going through boxes in the garage and consolidating. Using all standard sizes from UHaul. DH's request,
I hope you can feel how relieved and happy I am for DS, and the notion of moving is becoming more real as it is the best thing for him and our family to move to another state! New beginnings for him, and another chapter for DH and I.

Thank you all for the tips on counting points and the reminder on the bonus points!
New scrappy purchases...I took advantage of the MFT 40% off sale and stocked up on some cardstock. It's crazy how expensive sheets of 8.5x11 card stock can be...up to .70 a sheet for some brands.

I'm definitely not on a freeze, never gonna happen. I don't go overboard anymore, but there are so many sales that if something on my wish list goes on sale, I'm going to buy it.
My latest purchases have been from The Digital Press' $2 Steals weekly sales, and whatever 99c template Katie Pertiet has on sale each week. I also just downloaded the two most recent Fiddle-Dee-Dee FREE templates.

Not really on a freeze but as prices are soaring I’ve more picky about what I’m purchasing. So I have started my bank it orders at Scrapbook Generations to get some new things I know I’ll use as I’m getting back to 12x12 next month.
I haven’t touched much actually scrapping but I did print several weeks of pictures and much typed journaling. I hope to get some time in this weekend with it being snowy out!

angel97701 - glad you got a good letter from your DS. Glad he's still hanging in there and making progress. Sounds lke you're making good progress with packing as well. It's such a huge project nylene - I need to get better at making my own embellishments...I've had my Cricut Expression for eons but don't use it nearly enough to be good at it. My freeze is going well - one more page until I can shop but not sure I'm getting anything before starting the next 50 layouts.

Thanks nylene - I am feeling somewhat accomplished. Last Monday I ordered two weeks worth of photos to catch up January's photo prints, they arrived Thursday, and as of last night, I got them ALL scrapped and in albums. Tomorrow I'll order this past week's - not sure I'll be able to repeat that feat as DS spent the week in Hawaii for work and sent some lovely photos Today I hope to work on scrapping more of December.

I have enjoyed reading about all of your scrappy times. gramma hope you are hanging in there ... hope Ken is recovering and the medical system is doing the right thing. Sad that we have to push and make a fuss to get things done ... then they wonder why we make a fuss. angel97701 packing and moving is exhasting but I'm sooo happy for your fresh start and your news from the program. And somehow you find time to be crafty too. boymom5 did you get the snowy scrapping session you hoped for? I finished my 2022 Pocket Page album! And it was with more of a sense of relief than pleasure, so I am thinking my 2023 hiatus on Pocket Page scrapping is a good decision. We had a snow day last Wednesday so I was able to make 12 mini valentiens (3x3) and 4 A2 valentines. Yesterday I made a fancy pop up one from a file on Etsy. I was laughing, someone said they are over trucks with everything ... this was a truck with hearts in the back. DH has a red pickup so I thought it would be perfect for his grandson. Also yesterday three lacy valentines and something rare for me - I tried a new technique! My Ranger Crackle Paste came in, so I cut a stencil and used it. I am happy with the results. I tried to re-use my stencil, not so good results. Hopefully later today I can cut more stencils (from junk mail maybe?) and make more valentines. Our big news is DH has Lyme disease! It was yet again a case of having to put up enough of a fuss to get more in-depth blood tests. He is actually quite pleased. We thought we are just getting old and the symptoms were the new reality. But a course of antibiotics should be effective in making him fell much, much better. I'll share my valentines in one big photo when I finish.
