Another small win, I bought some new socks this past weekend and got rid of more pairs than I bought.

Went through my daughters craft stash and got rid of six huge foam sheets and two inches of paper. I couldda maybe shouldda used it at some stage, but realistically never would have. So into the pile it goes!

Just spent the past hour working in the guest room. I've got a big project coming up that is going to require working in there so need to get it organized. It didn't help that DH moved his Nordic Trac (vintage) in there and left it in the middle of the floor. At least he did fold it down. Moved that under a window, pulled out a very large Moon Pod - impulse buy by DH last summer - that will go to the storage unit. Think bean bag on steroids. If I can talk DH into it, it will actually go with the 2 leather chairs and ottoman that I'm sending to my cousin near Austin. One of her nephews is going to come get them and he has a 9 yr old boy. There are also a slew of young cousins in that age range over there so hopefully one of them will want it. I have a Big Board I use for sewing, but for now that will live in the guest room and be used for my photo/scrapbook project. The boxes of photos, memorabilia and old photos are all in that room so it will be convenient. Some of the pillows and old clothes were piled in the closet but I will get to those in the next few weeks. One good discovery is that my vintage 80's trench coat from Brooks Brothers fits again! So glad I never donated it. Just need to run it to the cleaners and I'm all set for winter weather! Feels good to be making progress, even if it's just a small bit today.

To the point where I don't know what else I could throw away on back porch. I could throw Baby's bedding away but he just got it last week and is still "okay".
We have managed to loose a couple of Dad's shirts. Need to try to find them since they were a couple of his faves.
I bought my Mom some storage bins at Dollar Tree. She said she wanted to organize the fridge with them. I hope she does.
Glad I am coming down from my manic episode, though I am still not sleeping well. I guess I am going to try to use things up and throw away the left overs. I did go through all of my paint and stencils and threw away a bunch

Finally took photos and listed for sale my huge Christmas dinner set that I had plans to pull out every year and use at dinner parties and family Christmas. Yeah, that never happened and it’s been 20 or so years since I bought it… it’s literally brand new! Time for it to bless someone else’s family and bring joy to them.

lg I think that is a great attitude! My mom wanted to give me her lot of Christmas plates, bowls, a couple of serving dishes and glasses that she had for about as long as you did and also never had a chance to use them. My husband and I, even though we enjoy and use our china, only host small Christmas gatherings so I convinced her to give 1/2 to my BFF (who she has known and loved for 43 years now) and she has really enjoyed using them! It’s not something they could ever put money towards. That made mom feel really good. I did keep some of the collection to use specifically when we had mom for dinner around Christmas. DH and I have our own Christmas plates and chargers we like to use, but these were a huge deal to mom and we had room so we kept some. Seeing her face last Christmas when she saw the set table made it worthwhile. I’m not one for taking things out of guilt, and have already turned down most of what she has offered, but am glad I made the decisions with these specific dishes. Glad I am coming down from my manic episode, though I am still not sleeping well. I guess I am going to try to use things up and throw away the left overs. I did go through all of my paint and stencils and threw away a bunch Just wanted to say that I know how hard it is to keep a decluttered home when dealing with mania and I admire your persistence in climbing back on the horse after each episode!

My mania, at least lately, seems to be a ton of extra energy and I try to work it off. The other extreme is what gets me in trouble. I just sleep and don't care about anything. It's why I lost my job at Walmart and why I have lost some friendships/relationships. Hopefully it levels out.

I knew my mother had difficulty letting things go, but OMG. We are attempting to empty their house for the move to a care facility. She is getting much better at throwing things away. I've gotten better at telling her I can donate things, but throwing them away when they aren't suitable for donation.
The winner this week? A full copier paper box of receipts from building their cabin in the early 1970s! Because I will randomly find important papers mixed in with useless paper, I had to really go through the entire box. I did actually find things I need to keep or shred.
Just when I thought that was it for paper, I found an old camera case the size of a large briefcase full of receipts from the additions to the cabin to what is their current home from 1992! Mixed in were retirement papers and credit union statements.

cecilia I hope it levels out for you as well. I used to have full on manic episodes but now I only have hypomanic episodes, and not nearly as often as I used to. Unusual, but there is hope! I use medication for the depression aspect and behavior changes for the hypomania because mood stabilizers and anti-psychotics have a bad effect that is much worse than my bipolar symptoms. I hope you find something that works for you.

I spent a few hours working in the smaller storage unit today. I put my Christmas tree in for the first time ever, donated a small plastic storage tower and a plastic tub full of odds and ends, and threw out a bag of trash.
I would have thrown out more, but my mom came back and claimed some stuff. I'll hopefully be able to get rid of it eventually.

I have learned that as soon as she says she is OK with donating something to get it out of the house. MCI is a challenge to work around - there's stuff she gave me years ago, but she's forgotten and then she claims I took her stuff.

I have a new task on my decluttering and organizing list. To clean out and rearrange the two chest freezers in the basement.
Why do we have two? Because my husband bought half a cow and I had to have somewhere to put all that meat. And that was a good thing. We have since bought a half a cow again when the supply was running low. The cows come from a friend's farm about 45 minutes up the road. They are raised organically, and he can tell you exactly what the cow ate in which field on any given day of its life. Nice.
So, we recently arranged to purchase another one. We have always split the cow with my in-laws so we each get half. Well, the cow is being butchered this coming week and my father-in-law told us yesterday that they are going to pass this time. Yikes. I have to make room for a whole cow. Wish me luck.

spongemom - good luck! the garage is on my list today - we use it as a gym with storage along the walls but it tends to become a catchall for DH - stuff that needs to go up to his hobby space and stuff that needs to go to the detached garage and stuff he's going to deal with (right now there are 5 Ikea chairs still in boxes for the screen room plus several still boxed Ekets that will go into his space) and so on....but it's getting harder to walk though so I've asked him to help me deal with it today - hopefully

Just found out that my aunt in WA is going to be visiting in November.
Before she gets here, need to:
Fix roof in TV room and declutter it Deep clean everything Fix electric issue in main bathroom.
Some of it will likely have to be done closer to when she gets here but some needs to get going ASAP

There’s a kid’s consignment sale in our area in about 4-1/2 weeks. I used to sell through that group regularly but haven’t for a few years for multiple reasons. I have a pretty big box of name brand fall and winter clothes that DD got for Christmas the year before Covid that she literally never wore. She also has a bunch of larger, more expensive toys that she has outgrown that I know will sell quickly at that sale.
We’ve been so busy the last few weeks that I haven’t been able to get going with registering to sell and getting the stuff tagged. I can do the two local sales back to back without needing to retag everything, and whatever doesn’t sell after the second sale will get donated, so in either case it will be gone. If it wasn’t $400-500 worth of stuff it wouldn’t be worth taking the time to go through and tag it, but I kind of hate donating stuff that is brand new. And it’s easier and less stressful than having a garage sale.

I also reorganised the pantry and tossed some bags of chips that had been in there all summer partially open - if DD didn't eat them over summer, she's not going to eat them now when they are stale

Last week I made a stop at IKEA to pick up a few groceries and some napkins, as well as getting some steps in since it's been soooo hot here all summer. While wandering I discovered that they now offer the Alex storage in new colors! There is a black-brown, and a gray-turquoise. Both colors were very nice. Also, they have reduced the prices on some of the white Alex items by $20. IKEA - Alex storage So if anyone is thinking about getting some Alex storage for college kids or your own home, there are more options available.

Like Linda said, not a ton, but what they have is good. Pretty much all imported from Europe as well, which is always a plus for me. It also helps that I live 2 blocks from a large one! The things we like to pick up there are cookies, chocolates/candy, the frozen meatballs that DH likes (they also have vegan meatballs) and muesli for me. The cinnamon rolls are good as well. My favorite cookies are the ginger thins w/almonds. IKEA Food

Baby's water dish broke so that's something that is going out Thursday. Using a metal one for now. Need to get more storage bins from DT and organize stuff on back porch. My aunt who is visiting smokes and usually smokes on back porch so I want to make sure everything is air tight. Been pricing some of the fabric I picked up Saturday. Some is going to have to be put on eBay due to size/theme (ie Rugrats, Looney Tunes, etc. Several yards of each and don't think I can sell it here).
