Found a new place to donate gently used items in my area.
Can’t remember what has left this house, except for a coat that was not at all warm. Oh, and a pair of undies. OMG, I was never so grateful to be wearing pants. They just slid right off my bum. 😂
Also, dog toys. We have a new puppy who is a chewer. He has destroyed a couple of toys that were previously owned by Girlie. There are a stupid amount of toys coming in the house, though. I think the puppy has the most gifts waiting on him for Christmas. Ha!

Sold the four unloved Kiwi Tinker Crates and a Disney KlipKlop Castle that DD had outgrown, and she’s $65 richer!

I've finished up 4 books this week - two are headed to my daughter and two are in the donation box.

I am back from my work travel and a trip to Mayo with my mom, and I'm ready to do some more decluttering - starting tomorrow, that is, lol. I need a bit of time to recover from the emotional whiplash of this month.
I am going to add some more jeans to the donate pile (I need to wash the pair I wore yesterday). I bought multiple pairs of the same jeans last year - in sizes 20W, 18W (2 pairs), and 16W (2 pairs). The 20s were the roomiest, but still fit when I got them. I bought the 16s a couple months later, but they were a bit tight in the waist (they were wide leg, so I never had a problem with the calves). I wore the 16s yesterday, and they were literally sliding off of me while we were driving home. I kept having to hold on to them when I went into the gas station or the store! I may keep the 20s just as a look how far I've come type thing.
Once my job ends on 1/3, I'll spend most of my time job hunting, but I plan to work on my space and go back into the storage units. I just need to remember to donate stuff as soon as possible, especially on things of my mom's that she okays to donate - otherwise, she forgets and tries to reclaim items.

Took another load to GW. Looked like they had already worked through everything by the doors yesterday. Had 5ish boxes and some large things that couldn't be boxed. Glad it get it gone. Will probably have another load or two next week. They probably hate seeing me. Lol.

I am at my mom’s now. I brought the bag of makeup, skin and hair products that I purged and my sisters in law are going through it and are loving it. I wish I had been even more ruthless when going through stuff.

I wish I had been even more ruthless when going through stuff. I need to do this. I would probably take it to the thrift store that supports domestic abuse victims. Not sure who else to give it to around here. I took them some feminine hygiene items once and they appreciated it.

My ds talked me into letting him move his room from the second floor of our house to the basement ... promised he would do all the furniture and book moving ... swore up and down that he would purge his closet ... that was overly ambitious I do have the upstairs bedroom pretty much finished (except for a bunch of abandoned stuff in the closet which I guess I'm taking to donate? We didn't negotiate that part of the plan ) but ds will need some help to get himself all sorted and completely moved in today--his adhd has not been helpful this week! I've had to resurrect what I call my "reno mantra" and repeat it to myself all week: it'll be awesome when it's done, it'll be awesome when it's done, it'll be awesome when it's done ... !!

I'm always ready to purge after Christmas. I plan to tackle my storage room this week. It's a hot mess since I dumped all the boxes of photos, slides, and super 8 film in there. Plus, when it got cold my grandson had to move all his hockey gear from the garage to the storage area. I want to buy another set of shelves to store stuff off the floor.

Hello, all! Here I am on Christmas Day thinking of how much I want to enter 2024 with LESS STUFF! I can't believe I have come to a point where holiday decorating isn't as fun anymore, but it is what it is! I've entered a new era in life, and I'm not complaining. LOL I still love holiday decor but have found I have been putting a lot more thought into pieces I buy.
Goals for this week: - downsize wrapping paper collection - have one less bin of Christmas decor to store away - go through clothes and donate (shouldn't be too hard as I tend to be good about doing that throughout the year) - give away grandbaby's items we still have and no longer need, such as her swing and bottle steamer - downsize my purse/bag collection
I'll be adding more to my list for sure. These are just the ones I'm tackling right away.
Happy holidays and happy decluttering to you all!

I already have piles for goodwill , little league , high school community closet , and school donations.
Hoping to clean the garage next weekend and purge a lot of it. Need to sell a treadmill we’ve never used.
I have goals to clean my linen closet and craft area as well as reduce Xmas decor by a few bins.

One more week, Organizing and Decluttering Friends! We made it through the whole year! With DD home this week, I’m hoping to enlist a little help to get her stuff back in her room that has taken up residence in mine, and get more donation stuff moved out the door. When I took the last load to Salvation Army, I forgot a huge tote of bedding and stuff from the lake cabin up in my bedroom and I really want it gone.
DH posted a bunch of the toys but only sold a few. I think he should drop the prices to what I told him the stuff should have been priced at in the first place and see if we can sell a few more (DD gets the money from them). It’s all in really great condition, so if anything doesn't sell I know it would be snapped up in minutes if I posted it on the Buy Nothing group.
I’d really like to clear out the front room where all this stuff is being stored. I’m tired of it looking like a hoarder house from my front windows, and I want to get the carpeting pulled out in that room and in the family room. For as big as our house is, there’s no where for DD to hang out with a friend here besides her bedroom if DH is also home and watching TV. Since most of her friends are boys, hanging out in her room is a no go.

Getting a good push at the end of the year. We bought a much bigger TV and since all the kids were home Christmas Day, I finally got the TV up and the box out of the formal living room. This is the largest tv we can fit in the space so now I’m putting shelves up on either side which will help alleviate some of the clutter on the book shelves in the formal living room. I’m trying to be very specific about what goes up on the shelves though. So that gets the shelves off the basement floor and DD found some shelves for her room too. Which will get her new Lego and Funko Pops out of the living room and displayed.
I’m also doing a ton of laundry so as I’m folding and putting away, I’m purging more stuff. I told DD she needs to do the same. Who needs 4 pairs of red and black buffalo plaid pajama bottoms?!? She narrowed it down to 2. I also told her she’s on a clothing ban until we buy her prom and graduation dresses. She was doing a thing last time we went through clothes where HS kid would wear this, but would college kid wear it. I think that really helped shed some clothes and some mental stuff.

I have 6 recycling bags of clothes and blankets from ds's old room to drop off at a donation centre today, and another huge one that my friend is going to grab for her still-growing ds. And then all of the stuff will have been cleared out of what is now our 'spare' room. Today will be spent in the basement, trying to keep ds on track as he figures out where all his stuff needs to go in his new space ... and if I'm lucky, that will inspire dd (who already had a room in the basement) to do some clearing out ... My plan is to also gather up all the indoor Christmas decorations today and put the house back to 'normal'. The outdoor ones can stay until after Ukrainian Christmas--my family isn't Ukrainian, but I grew up in an area that predominantly was, so we adopted some traditions ... like getting to have Christmas twice

Yesterday I went through the food pantry, spice/condiment drawers and cabinet to better organize after the holiday chaos. Tossed some expired stuff, started a bag for the food bank of things we no longer eat (but are still good) and did a bit of reorganizing. Took less than an hour! Before the end of the week I need to spend some time in my sewing room getting it back in order again. There are so many things piled and scattered around from projects in process that it is affecting my concentration. Today is Kitchen Day. I'm going to go through and organize every cupboard, drawer, the pantry, and the fridge. Have fun!

If you have old blankets to donate try a pet shelter. They can use them. I had a mattress pad but they had us cut the elastic off from the corners

I added a 'free with purchase' tape measure to the donation box. Gave the electric chopper I got for Christmas to DD since I already have one. Tossed a sewing project that just wasn't going well (it was all from scraps so no big deal).
I've also cleaned up and reset my Habitica lists for next year - re-worked the habits and dailies...cleaned up the tasks and added new ones, updated due dates, deleted ones that have outlived their usefulness.

I've also cleaned up and reset my Habitica lists for next year What type of system is this? I've not heard of it before. it's game-ified to do lists habitica.com you set up the habits, re-occuring tasks, and to-do tasks and you earn in-game rewards for doing them basically. You can also add in your own rewards but I haven't done that I have everything from exercise and checking my blood sugar to vacuuming and weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly housework on my re-occuring lists and I use the to-do tasks to brain dump so to speak everything i want to/need to accomplish. If I'm working on a scrapbook - i have subtasks for each layout and for printing and sorting the photos. That way I can see at a glance what I've done and what still needs to be done. For big longterm projects like my photo labelling - I've drilled it down into small subtasks that are achievable in a single session and that way when I have to step away, I know where I am in the project. But I also use it to remind myself of small tasks I want to get to eventually. I do find a yearly deepclean of the tasks is helpful - delete ones no longer needed, add some new tasks, and so on.

This was a good week. Except for my craft room, we cleaned and decluttered the whole house, even the garage. We both got rid of couple of bags of clothes, our trash cans were full and we couldn’t discard everything in this week’s trash pickup, and we made a couple of runs to Goodwill. There are empty shelves in the garage (and yes, I kept some of the rubber stamps).
I saved my craft room for last because I want to move some furniture around. That will take extra time. I am hoping to start it today. It usually takes me one day to empty the room enough so that I can move the furniture. Then one more day to put back 80% of the stuff. And then, it takes one month to put the other 20% back. 😂 I am hoping to get rid of stuff too.

Today I need to go through and flatten the mountain of cardboard boxes that have been piling up since before Christmas. The place DH used to be able to drop off his cardboard for recycling stopped letting their clients use their recycling dumpster so now he’s been filling up our home cans with it. Our recycling is only picked up every other week, so lately at times it’s been a challenge to get it all in there. If both of ours are already full I usually can put some in the neighbor’s on trash day, but he doesn’t leave his cans outside so in that case I have to wait until the morning of pickup. My mudroom is a dumpster fire of recycling that needs to go out the door.
