The boys (12 & 14) left on Saturday to spend the month in Newfoundland with my parents. Mom sent me an email this evening describing their day and now I'm feeling a bit homesick. So I thought I would share my home, and their day, with you. FTR, I don't own any of these photos. First they drove up to Trinity ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg1_zps1baad412.jpg) Where they climbed Gun Hill ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg5_zps043d28d8.jpg) Then they drove on to Elliston where the puffins were nesting ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg2_zpsd7d776a9.jpg) Mom said they watched a humpback splashing just off shore and there was a large iceberg out in the bay (actually, I'm pretty sure this picture was taken in Twillingate, but whatever) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg3_zps0bba2a0c.jpg) Then, they drove up farther to Bonavista where they had a dinner of fish and brewis (don't ask - I haven't met a mainlanders yet who can abide the stuff but we 'loves' it) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg4_zps6cd10450.jpg) Apparently there are more icebergs in Bonavista this year than they've seen in a while. linkAnd yes, that's how we talk. To top off the day, they stopped on the way home to pick up eight lobster fresh off the boat. So, yeah, I'm currently sitting in Toronto wishing I were home.

Amazing! My hometown area is nowhere as picturesque as that. When I went on a cross country road trip many years ago, I never realized how much I LOVE the mountains.

It's going to be a fantastic month for them. I wish I had family (that I could trust) that lived somewhere even half as nice as this.

I have an aunt and uncle out in Moncton. I want to go see them so bad. I'm a prairie girl at heart, but the ocean calls me.

Where I am from is SO different than that! It is lovely and I would love to visit-ice bergs are so foreign to me-it is something that I would like to see before I die. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

So gorgeous! I would love to live in that little village. Quaint and charming. Your children are lucky to have your parents to spoil them for a month.

"Then, they drove up farther to Bonavista where they had a dinner of fish and brewis (don't ask - I haven't met a mainlanders yet who can abide the stuff but we 'loves' it)"
I have no idea what it is, but I'd definitely try it.
Gorgeous shots. Thank you so much for sharing them!

And cod season starts soon so they should be busy enough. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/sharkattack_zps62354966.gif) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/1dalaimama/imagejpg1_zpsa098a041.jpg)

Wonderful! This year we are travelling to Western Canada, but Newfoundland is on my list of places I want to visit over the next few years. Can't wait to see Gros Morne Park!

The first time DH saw them on a menu he was all ![(puke)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sick.png) And they serve them everywhere.
