I filed my federal and state taxes just before 11pm on 2/7. I got my federal refund yesterday, 2/10. Never in my life have I received a refund that quickly. This was also my first time claiming a specific credit which gave me a much larger refund than I would normally get. Have you done your taxes yet? If so, and you got a refund did you get it faster than normal?

I will send the planner to our CPA in the next week or so. We usually get our refund within a couple weeks. (If there is a refund to get!)

I had the preliminary work done in December. We always meet with the CPA before the end of the year to decide where we are at with expenses vs income. Do we spend in current year or following year. We have major expenses that can be paid at either - it's just a matter of what day to pay!
We did end up paying this year. Did a pre-pay of about 23K, even though we haven't even filed yet. The federal tax will no longer be a deduction on Iowa taxes next year (thanks Governor) So if we went ahead and pre-paid what we estimated our tax to be we could still use it as a deduction. It's confusing. LOL
All the confusion of tax brackets and what one we want to be in. That is why we pay a CPA! I do all the work, as far as breaking everything down. He just enters the expenses as categorized by me. But his software does the magic of figuring out where we need to be as far as tax brackets, etc.
Ours are due the end of February.

Yep, did them last weekend and the federal refund is pending today, due to be deposited on the 15th. The state usually shows up a few days after Federal

Argh, this should have come with a trigger warning haha! I had a sudden heart attack before I realised that the financial year here ends on 30th June, and I have until the end of October to do them!

We have till April 30. RRSP (registered retirement savings plan) deadline is the end of February and even if you contribute before they won't send your slip out earlier.

I always have to wait until March because some of the investments don't send their final statements until then. We had used an independent CPA until last year. We know someone who works for H&R Block. He did ours and the refund was back in 2 weeks. I wondered if using H&R Block made the refund faster, but from the results the rest of you are posting, probably not.
We never knowingly wait until the last minute. I am OCD about turning things in before the due date. Many years ago the independent CPA I used never gave me the documents until April 15 and I had to drive across town to a Post Office that stayed open late to postmark the returns for people. I was so angry at that woman, she has no idea how much she upset me by the last minute filing.

We prefer not to get a refund. We like to break even, but with the new tax structure created under the Trump administration, it's been impossible for us to break even. We have owed, so I'm in no rush. I submitted my tax planner to our CPA and am just waiting to hear what the damage is.
I did help my son file his taxes last weekend. He's getting a small refund and hasn't received it yet.

I used Turbo Tax for the first time and some how it says I owe $861. I am bummed since I take zero Fed deductions on my pay and think I will try doing the return myself.
No idea how I can owe if I am not claiming myself as a deduction.

I went back to school and had a bunch of qualified educational expenses so I got to use the American Opportunity credit which is fully refundable. It's very helpful!

Signed with our preparer afternoon 2/7, federal was deposited 2/10 and state should drop this coming week.
I wish we were able to be at zero but I’d rather a refund than pay so I’ll take it. Last year I made more than what I normally make so it bumped us up a bit. We even had a real estate loss and got less back than what I thought we would.

Not yet. I'm in one of the states they asked people to refrain from fileing until the state and IRS could work issues out over a tax refund we receeived that was a result from over taxing. Now the state has programming issues; so they said it might not be ready until the end of February before we can file state.

No. I’ll do them sometime at the beginning of March. Last year I waited till the first few days of April and 🥴 Never again, too stressful for me filing so close to the deadline.

Still waiting on forms from two different brokerage accounts which should be here the end of next week. Once I have those I can finish plugging in the information and get ready to file. If we get a refund (rare), I'll file then. If not, I'll file and pay the IRS on April 15. No state income tax here to deal with.

One of tax documents doesn't get here until late March. It's frustrating. I know we should get it earlier, but it never comes before the end of March. Since we always owe, I guess it doesn't matter too much when it gets here. Our tax lady knows the situation and always gets it done for us.

No I've been waiting on the IRS to decide how the middle class refund given in California should be treated. They finally decided not to tax it according to an article. So looks like I can do it this week.
