Look who found her way home last night! She has been missing for ten days! The temps last week were crazy cold. And yet, she found her way home last night.
We had searched and called with no response, so she must have been a long way away. We had resigned ourselves to her being lost to hypothermia or to predators. Yet last night, dh was getting ready for bed, heard something on the deck, and there she was!

Happy Friday! It has been raining all day here but at least it has been light. My art class last night was good and dod three of the sketches. Also, I did get two floral practice paintings done this week. I will share more pics. I almost missed the live Scrapbook dot com classes today. LOL! I thought it was going all day and when I logged on at 11am ish that was the last class. So tomorrow, I was start out earlier. grammadee, I will go back and watch Dyan Reavely. SO cool you and justjac got to take one of her in-person classes. I would love that. Also, grammadee happy to see your little cat made it back home safely. So amazing how our pets know how to get back home. That happened twice to my childhood dog. So smart! Waving hi to you gals and have a nice Saturday!

kellyr21 , I missed the Scrapfest today. We had to go back to the surgeon's office to have a few more stitches removed and then ran errands in the rain and cold.I was thinking about you all morning, hoping you were watching. I'm eager to see your latest work! grammadee , I'm so glad to see your kitty returned and that she is safe and sound. I am slowing making a supply of birthday cards for family and friends for this year. I have made a lot of box cards, but today wanted to make one a little wider to accommodate my die cut of an otter. It took me too long to determine how to make it to fit an A2 envelope, not take larger than 8.5x11 paper and still be wide enough for the otter. I made a note of the measurements so I won't have to figure it all out again. I think Topher will like it. Otter-ly Awesome Bday
Family 2022 We finally got everyone together for a family photo and Tyler got engaged this week. We will be adding a new family member in May. DD has a growing family!

Wow! She DOES have a growing family, nylene! And exciting times ahead! There is love in the Gallery for your fun card and wonderful family page. Charlie seems to have weathered her adventure quite well. She is still a little jumpy, but most of the time quite content. Our old cat was quite happy to see her: he resented her at first when she was moved to the garage, but when she was gone he missed her! Dh and I were talking and while we were thinking she was missing ten days, it was actually 17 days! And temps that first week were -30's. Wonder how many of her nine lives she used up?

Wow grammadee - I'm impressed with Charlie's heartiness! Also glad she made it home! She probably ran from a predator and treed herself or something? When I was a newlywed, we had a cat who treed himself in my Mom's backyard - we think chased by a coon - and he got too high to reach. The SPCA assured us he'd come down eventually, but he just sat up there and cried for a week, moving higher!!! Finally, a tree service came and got him down for us (voluntarily! We tipped them nicely) and he was so so skinny. He got his picture in the local paper with me I found the newspaper clipping when I was cleaning out my Mom's - I need to photograph it and scrapbook it!!! nylene - I can't decide which I love more, your card or your page! Not that it's a competition, but they BOTH are in my "favourite" category So nice to hear that your family is growing again! A good friend became a grandmother for the first time yesterday. It's such a warm-fuzzy feeling to watch people have grandbabies I'm alone this weekend - DH and the boys are at a guys weekend, and DD works and has a "ball" tonight at the university. I think I'll open a crop later! Takers?

Hi Pokey Friends! I thought I'd stop by to catch up a bit with you lovelies. Life here is plugging along. We are busy planning my daughter's (Mallory) wedding. She is getting married in October. She has been a little slow in getting things planned, so I'm having to give her a little guidance in getting it done. My son, Griffin, is home for spring break from college this week, so it will be nice to have him around more. He has really done such a good job this year. He has autism and I was super worried about him living on campus, but so far it has gone okay. We are going to work on getting him a learner's permit to learn to drive this week...so we will see how that goes. He has always been pretty afraid to drive, but it's hard to navigate Indy without a car, our public transit is non-existent...so hopefully he can do it. I did the Scrapfest stuff yesterday. I really liked Dyan's class, I thought it was the best one. She is SO good at mixed media. I wasn't a super big fan of most of the rest of them, they were pretty basic. I am doing something fun next March though, I signed up to go on a scrapbooking cruise with some friends. Vicki Boutin is teaching on it. I've never been on a cruise before, but it should fun. grammadee It's awesome that your kitty came back after that long. So glad she is okay! knutschen It sounds like this divorce has been coming for a while. It's good that you know what you want and aren't giving in. Divorce is hard, but an unhappy marriage is harder. Most people who know me don't know that I had a brief first marriage. We were good friends who got married and it was not a good situation. We divorced after a year and a half and I felt so relieved when it was over. People tried to give me all kinds of advice when I went through my divorce, but I think you have to figure it out yourself. My dh and I have now been very happily married for 30 years, sometimes you just have to end the one that doesn't work to figure out what's right for you. nylene Love the family photo! Congrats on the upcoming wedding too. I think I'm going to try to finish the layout that's been on my desk all week, it's been giving me fits. Have a happy day all!

We are going to work on getting him a learner's permit to learn to drive this week...so we will see how that goes. He has always been pretty afraid to drive, My middle DS is on the spectrum too. He too is my only kid who sees the true risks of driving! I've pointed out that he plays far more complex video games and thus I know he has the skills to drive...he points out that any momentary lapse of judgement in a car has far greater ramifications than choices he makes during a video game. He's way too self-aware. But thus he is also aware that driving is something he needs to face and accomplish. Quirky kids these.

Sounds like busy times, shinyhappytina! And exciting times ahead with a wedding in your dd's future. I am being a truly Pokey Pea this month. I lost the LO momentum after finishing 28-4-28. Have been doing more organizing and playing around with techniques and products. I have all the stuff from Crop & Create, but can't seem to focus on the prep work. Have stamped and coloured the images for just one of those classes. Watched SBCfest classes and finished a couple of cards using some of their ideas. Dh is leaving in a bit to help his nephew with the cows, so maybe I should pull out another C&C class packet and play with that? Thinking I might pull out some Vicki Boutin foundations cs, so if I decide to play with inks or mixed media I may be able to build what Dyan Reavely calls "an accidental background" or something I could cut up later for accent pieces... Happy Sunday, Pokeys!

shinyhappytina, so nice to see your smiling face pop up. Congrats on Mallory's engagement. Will they be living close to you? It seems impossible that little blond Griffin is old enough to be in college. I totally understand the need for driving skills and the worry of consequences. (for you too, kitbop) Our DGS is also on the spectrum and is a college student. He was afraid to drive but our son said it would handicap him too much if he didn't learn. We have virtually no public transit. Eric spent many days in the car with him and wouldn't let him go on the freeway for several years. He's now been driving for 4 years and seems comfortable enough to get himself to and from school and work. He will probably never enjoy driving, but he can get himself around. He's a very frugal young man and has saved enough for a down payment on a condo where he lives with a roommate (who works for Eric). We took him to dinner last week and he seems happy with his circumstances. He moved one of the family cats to the condo with him and seems very satisfied. grammadee, I am just slowly getting back to scrapping after the push of 28-4-28. It helped to make a bunch of cards first. I bought a few 3D card files from the Design Studio when they were 50% off and have had fun making them up. I still have some Cousin Camp photos I didn't get scrapped, so I need to work on those too. I understand the lack of mojo! Linda, I read about your cut file organization on the team thread. It sounds a bit too complicated for me to do, but I need to do something because mine are in a mess. I have a hard time finding things because I can't remember what I named them! I waste a lot of time searching for something I know I have. I do like the idea of all borders being listed as borders, etc. I need to think through it all.

kellyr21 - sounds like your art is going well - I always enjoy what you share. nylene - otterly amazing card! and a beautiful family portrait! grammadee - I'm glad that Charlkie is home and doing well. Hopefully no more adventures for her. kitbop - yes you should scrapbook that! shinyhappytina - welcome back! Best wishes to Mallory! Good luck with Griffin - my middle is likely on the spectrum and is very anxiety-ridden - I think at this point, getting a license is on the back burner perhaps forever having had a learners for nearly 8 years now. grammadee - hopefully playing with your stuff will get the mojo up and running nylene - it wasn't as complicated as it sounds - more timeconsuming - but it's definitely been worth it for me. Lazy day here - DD went horseback riding this morning and then with DH to pick up a piece of furniture from my SIL. Then we all took the recycling for dropoff and out to lunch. The place she picked used to be really good but the owner retired and sold it and it's not nearly as good now. I ordered chicken strips and I thought the sauce would be on the side for dipping (as it had been in the past) but instead they drowned my chicken strips in honey mustard sauce...which was disappointing.

grammadee, I am glad your kitty came back home. She is adorable!! kellyr21, The Urban Sketchers group I am in I found on Facebook. I bet there is one in your area. I have really enjoyed the people I have met and working on my drawing skills. shinyhappytina, I have known for a few years that our marriage wasn't working. I had tried to talk to him at that time to go for counseling to see if that would help. He refused. Now he says he will do all these things but it is too late. Since I had to sign an affidavit of support and am bound to it for 10 years, has kept me to stay. I talked to an Immigration lawyer that relieved my fears and explained this form more in-depth. Even though this was my choice, it is still hard. I know that everything will be better in the end! I have been so exhausted today. I finally got up and met my sister at my parent's house. We all chatted for a bit. I am now sitting at the coffee shop relaxing. At least this weekend, my husband has calmed down on trying to change my mind. At least it has changed to him finding a place to live. Instead of him being served by the courts, I was able to serve him since he told me he won't fight me on it. I go back in mid-April to turn in the last part of the paperwork. They said they would get the final paperwork written up. I was told that it may be completed in 45 to 60 days as long as we agree with everything. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

knutschen, I am sorry you are going through all the steps of divorce. It seems you have a good plan and have family support for you. I'm glad your husband is now understanding it is over. Big, big hugs for you as you work through this. Linda, I'm sorry your chicken strips were flooded with sauce. I don't usually care for sauce, ketchup, mustard, dressing or any dipping item so that would have been a turn-off for me. I'm glad you had a more restful day anyway. Did your DD enjoy the horseback riding?

knutschen - divorce is hard no matter what. I hope your husband will be more cooperative going forward. (((Hugs))) and prayers nylene - DD always loves horse riding and I'm so grateful that she (and DD22 before her) have had the opportunity so often. They ride with a lady I met when I did a mom and me Girl Scout campout with DD22 10 or 11 years ago - she invited dd to come over and ride every weekend with her daughter.

Happy Monday! Waving hi to you all. We had a very good day yesterday. We went to Joann and I got some VB and PE pp and embellishments. It was fun walking around and seeing everything. Plus my buys were all on sale. Then we went to Johnny Carino's Italian restaurant. We've seen it for years and final gave them a try. OMG,it was so good especially the warm bread. Ron and I were so full we could of been rolled to the car. Lol! I did enjoy the Scrapfest. I got to see a lot of Paige's class and all of Frank Garcia class. I did get some fun ideas I want to try. Also, I signed up for Paige's live layout class next week and I am excited. Here is a lo I did last night. I scrap lifted from a design I saw at Scrapbook dot com. So fun to make. I have two more projects on my table this week. Not sure if my mojo is fully back but I am enjoying the ride. Z Smile by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr nylene- So sweet of you to be thinking of me last Friday. I did enjoy the Scrapfest. I almost missed because I thought it was going to be all day. I got on at 11am is and it was over at 12pm! Thank goodness for replay. knutschen- My prayers are with you. Yes, I did see the Urban Sketchers website and there is a LA chapter. Gotta see about this. Sounds fun! grammadee- How's your cat doing since the big adventure? kitbop- Waving hi and hope you has fun scrapping last weekend. linda- That restaurant really messed up putting sauce on tenders. So weird! Glad your dd gets to ride horses. What a fun and relaxing activity. joyfulnana- Waving hi to you and Abby!

Never a dull moment around here. Kandi (our 3 year old dog) came back with a mouthful of porcupine quills last night. She was a trooper though about getting them pulled. (There were about 25 of them around and in her mouth and in her nose.) She is now out in the yard licking snow and cleaning herself up.

kellyr21 - beautiful layout - I love the oranges! grammadee - poor Kandi (and poor you and dh to have to pull them all out) the time change is tough this year - I've not been sleeping well and then losing an hour. Glad tomorrow is the last day of school for DD until the 27th...I can sleep in. Well, not on Thursday as we have to drop her off about an hour away for 7am to meet up with her troop for a backpacking trip in Georgia. She'll be back late Saturday and then next week is spring break.

kellyr21, your page is gorgeous! I love the bright colors and the fussy cut flowers with all their dimension. You have love in the gallery! Linda, happiness is Spring Break! I hope you can have a more relaxing time. Is your knee doing better? Are you still doing the virtual therapy or is that completed? kitbop, I just picked up a photo of Swayzee at Disney and thought of you and your family. Do you have all the plans made? I would love a big family trip to Disney, but not all the family are interested. I don't know why the men are never excited about it. I think they don't have the patience for long lines. grammadee, oh, poor Kandi! I'm sure she'll never bother another porcupine! I'm glad you could get them all out. Wish I could join the crop tomorrow, but the dentist calls. Here's another interactive card I made. Now that I have the cut file for the mechanism, I think I can alter it however I want. It folds and fits a 5x7 envelope. Hexagon Pop Up Happy Birthday

nylene - yes, everything is booked for Disney and I'm feeling more and more "prepped" for a successful trip as I've been watching youtube videos and blogs to help with where we will eat, what rides to do first etc. DH is more excited than before I think and has actively participated in buying some new shorts and shirts to look coordinated for our trip. Your Pop-up card looks remarkable! So so celebratory and festive and fun! I know you say "now that I have the cutfile"...but it's really figuring out what pp you use around the base and what colours to use on various pieces on top that make the card great! @homescshoolmum - I struggle with the time change too! Ugh is all I can say. kellyr21 - I LOVE that layout!!! Oooh, the layers and colours and dimension are so wonderful. You guys are too cute too! grammadee - Poor Kandi! I'm glad it was only 25 quills and I hope you took a couple of pictures! knutschen - were are you from originally? How stressful to be dealing with immigration paperwork on top of divorce paperwork/issues. It sounds like you have it all figured out, but it sounds scary and hard to me!

Hey there! I feel like it's been a year since I popped onto the boards. I got a wild idea to switch up my rooms and put crafting and work in the same room again, but in the larger master, and moving my bedroom to the smaller room. That has been an adventure, that I'm still recovering from lol. So I haven't scrapped at all. In the midst of that upheaval, DS2 relapsed last week, and I so wish that addiction only affected the addict. He is already working his recovery again which I'm thankful for. I'm sad and disappointed for him, but I can't say I'm shocked. It's been a busy week or so for sure. I'm sorry for the ups and downs everyone is having. nylene your cards are so cool and amazing! kellyr21 there's love in the gallery. I hope everyone has a good end of the week!

(((Hugs))) joyfulnana - I'm so sorry about your DS's relapse - it IS good news he's already back to working on recovery though. That switching of rooms does sound like a project - I would be worn out from it as well. I hope it works out well for you kitbop - I'm excited for you -Disney is fun but exhausting - despite living in Florida, I've only been 3 times - my mum and sister and I went for a week when I was an older teen (turned 19 while I was there) in 1989 (we didn't live in FL then), Dh's Aunt took dh, ds, and I back when ds was almost 7 for a day trip, and then we did a family weekend (just one day at Disney though) when my youngest was a toddler. DD16 really wants to go again now she's old enough to actually enjoy it but so far that hasn't happened. I had planned to send her to stay a weekend with her sister in the dorms and the two of them to do a Disney but Covid happened and DD22 never went back to the dorms. nylene -gorgeous card - I'm always impressed with your fancy cards - they look so very complicated to put together. I am still doing knee therapy - it's going well and I can see/feel progress. We have a short 'hike' planned on Sunday so that'll be a test - one of the local state parks is doing a guided 2-mile farewell to winter hike/walk. I'm fortunate that the virtual therapy is a 100% covered benefit on our insurance so I don't have to stress about co-pays etc...and it means I can continue until either I or the therapist feels I've accomplished the goals or have made as much progress as I will be able to. Planning to join grammadee's crop later this morning - hopefully make some more progress on my trip album. Up next is a day of hiking among the autumn leaves.

Will see you at the crop, Linda . I don't know how much "progress" I will make, (seems like I have been doing alot of moving in circles, lately) but I will be playing with papers and ink. Sorry to hear about your ds, joyfulnana . But kudo's to him for getting himself right back on track. Hopefully he can stay there. Your room move sounds like alot of work, but if the master br is bigger, it should give you more space for your crafting to spread out. i need to get to the Gallery later to leave love for your beautiful page, kellyr21 and your fun card, nylene . You are going to have such a great time in Orlando, kitbop . Do you have Disney Magic Bands? Our family of 21 didn't plan ANYTHING before we arrived, and it still worked out to be a totally fun experience. Our time share has park pass package deals, and the first day, while the kids played in the pool, each family chose and purchased the packages they wanted, then loaded them onto each person's band. At that time you could book two fast passes per day at a time, and then add another when that ride/experience was completed. I think the dads booked 2 per day for everyone, and then kept reloading: they were doing that from their cell phones. They also booked ME into things, and I would get an alert on my phone about what was coming up next. And we kept track of everyone through group text, so we could set up meets on the go if someone found a food venue or attraction they thought others would like. Everyone shared pic's on a shared Icloud photo album, and I paid for one Disney Photo Pass, so every time a WD photographer took a pic of anyone, they swiped their Magic Band and the photo arrived in my folder. Kandi is back to herself this morning. I did NOT take photos. And I have no faith that this will not happen again. We had the sweetest dog 20 years ago: the only thing she attacked was porcupines, and she did it often. Then she would come meekly to have them pulled, quivering and whimpering during the procedure, but she seemed to think the attack was totally worth the pain. The only hope I have for Kandi is that Porky will move on away from this annoying neighbourhood.

gorgeous card grammadee Happy St Patrick's Day! We won't have our corned beef until Monday. Our bishop didn't give a dispensation so today is still a no-meat Friday here. DD16 was happy with that though because she'll be home for it - one of her favourites. We got pictures yesterday as they got on the ferry to head to Cumberland Island and as they got off. They won't have service again until they take the ferry back at the end of their trip.

Happy Friday! Hope you are all enjoying St. Patrick's Day. I don't even have on any green so I hope I don't get pinched. LOL! DId they do that at your elementary school? LOL! Ron's birthday is tomorrow so not sure what he wants to do but I am sure all will be well. The weather is warming up this weekend and then back to rain. So that is good news to have a sunny Saturday for Ron. He dislike the rain! I finished another lo and I am working on a tag book both inspired by Paige Evans. This lo was fun adding the white paint splatters and the doodling. I had so many floral pieces from my PE ephemera package I was able to make two layouts and the tag book. So glad I got them from Joann last weekend. Also, I got another Julie Nutting doll stamp and want to play around with it. Here is the lo. Celebrate LO by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr grammadee - Your poor dog! I hope no more incidents happen for your animals. Ouch!!! Wow, you all are really out with nature. linda - Your upcoming walk sounds like it will be fun and good medicine. Have fun! nylene - Your lo about your dgs that helped repair the music box part was such a great story! He is a wonderful kid and created some lovely memories for himself and both of you. Hello Pokey Friends! I had a busy week at work, so am just checking back in. Our legislative session is in, so I've been at the Statehouse this week, trying to encourage our lawmakers to keep our children in the child welfare system and survivors of violent crimes in mind as they make policy. I've always met with lawmakers, but never had a lobbyist to help with getting the appointments until this year, it's been super helpful to have someone to set it all up. It looks like a couple of the pieces of legislation I'm helping with are probably going to pass, which is good news. I've definitely learned a ton about how it all happens. nylene - Mallory and Colin will definitely be living within an hour of us, which is nice. Mallory is waiting to hear which program she got into for grad school, she wants to be an Anesthesiologist's Assistant, so I'm hoping she gets into that one, but she applied for a couple of others just in case. She works at the Children's Hospital here in Indy and she wants to stay there, so she will stay within driving distance. Colin is a country boy, so I'm sure they will end up in one of the smaller towns outside of Indy, but not too far away. BTW - I love the interactive card you made...it is pretty amazing! kitbop - I've had the same thoughts about the video games requiring that he be looking ahead and make fast decisions. I'm hoping that skill translates into decent driving. He definitely has to know how to drive to get around town. He is saying that he would prefer to live at home instead of on campus next year, but for that to happen, he has to be able to drive, there's no way we could get him there every day. He knows that he needs a master's degree to be a librarian, so he wants to conserve his college money by living with us (I also think he is just lonely there sometimes). BTW, have fun at Disney! joyfulnana - I'm really sorry that your DS is struggling. I hope he is able to learn something from his slip and can move forward with his recovery. It would be SO much easier if recovery were a straight path, but most of the time it's a windy, messy route. Hugs to you. kellyr21 - your layouts are beautiful! It looks to me like your mojo is right there with you. grammadee - I hope Kandi stays away from the porcupines! One of my dogs got quilled once and that way terrible. We had never even seen a porcupine in our neighborhood before that and our dog came back with a ton of quills in him...that was not fun! Also - I love your card! I have a thing for clouds, so it speaks my language. I'm hoping to get a little caught up in my journal today. I've been doing more LO's lately, so I've fallen a bit behind in my Stop the Blur journal. I'm also hosting Mallory's bridesmaids for brunch today. They are coming over to collectively shop online for their dresses for the wedding. I'm old school, so I'm like can't we just go to a store...but evidently not...lol. Have a happy day all!

I actually got a couple of layouts done yesterday. It's the first in weeks. Some shots from our Halloween party at work. The first one since Covid - the people we serve were very excited url=https://flic.kr/p/2oo2rCW] [/url] thumbnail_20230319_110907 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr
