I'm really looking forward to this season, but when I see the preview and that guy falls down those rocks, it nearly makes me sick to my stomach to see. Looks like there are a number of medical emergencies this year. I hope none were too serious.

I had no idea is was on again so soon! Seems like just yesterday we finished the previous season. I don't even remember how that one ended... I don't think I really took to any of the players. lol
Thanks for the post about it!

I was beginning to wonder if they were going to have to medically evacuate more than one of the players. And that tribal? Wow. Lots of risk takers this season!

I don't get taking the shot in the dark so soon? they can't use it again, right? Yea, the 1st day, and they have medical there already? crazy. there are 3 women there from MN, so that's been interesting. The one seems sort of bonkers..so don't see her lasting long. Is is Carolyn? the blonde with the black 80s mascara that's running down her face..like WTH? did she bring some with? LOL

Just watched the first episode. Already I'm liking it more than last season. I was sad to see Bruce taken out of the game. Especially then to hear that he's fine after being checked at the hospital. I mean, I know they had to take him out to be evaluated because head injuries can be really serious. But in a perverse kind of way it would almost have been better to hear that it was something more serious but then later on after treatment it turned out to be fine. Does that make sense? lol -- Anyway, it was sad. I don't know anyone else's name yet... but the one who annoys me the most is that loud one. She would make me crazy if I had to live with her for more than a day or two. And the other ones that are bothering me are the ones who can't speak one sentence without using the word "like". ugh. Also, on the slider puzzle I feel like the purple team had a slight advantage because their puzzle was in the shade. Still hot of course but any little relief from the sun had to be a good thing.

Wow! That was the one of the best first episodes of this show. So much going on. That tribal council was wild. I was very happy with who went home.
And yes, that blonde gotta go, but they are so setting it up showing all of her antics. Editing is everything in this show.

There was a huge disadvantage and I can't remember exactly.. but teams had to run back and forth to their spots and thought it was unfair the two teams had to run further than the team closer to where they had to run to. Clear as mud?

That loud blond (Carolyn) was something else wasn’t she!? Yes, I agree she must leave soon. I can’t imagine being stuck with her on an island.
Carolyn is the daughter of Senator Charles W. Wiger
I was happy with them sending Maddy home, but I was wishing it was Lauren.
In my opinion of only this group of people that went to tribal:
Lauren is one that I don’t like her ways. Which will probably make her a stronger player. Like she said, she is there to play.
Jaime (the yoga gal) was making me nervous with her nervousness. She seems to be indecisive and dependent on others.
Kane (the tall curly haired law student) seems to be a weak link.
I wish Matt (bearded barbershop owner) would have stuck by his word when he told Brandon he would vote Lauren out. Why was he climbing rocks?
I think Brandon did the right thing by trusting his gut and not trusting Maddy from the get go and then playing the idol to get the target off his back and also to get an idea of how the votes would go.

I didn't understand the reason they took the shot in the dark so early? Also, thought Matt and Brandon had a bit of an alliance after the coconuts!

Wow-what a first episode! I felt so bad for Bruce being medically taken out of the game on the very first day-but like another Pea mentioned with head injuries they just can't take any chances. I hope they bring him back in another season. He seemed to me to be a promising player.
I haven't looked into this cast at all-just watched the first episode. Here are my impression of last night's episode.
I liked the first challenge on the beach. Making them go through that mud underneath that structure made it all the more challenging although poor Bruce knocked the heck out of his head on the structure. For the others getting the mud in your face and having to continue let you know the game was on! I think I would have tried to use my buff to cover my face a bit to keep the mud out of my mouth and most of my face. Surprised none of them thought of that, but I'm sure it was all of the adrenaline and excitement of first hitting the beach with a thousand thoughts racing through their brains. That one girl who was trying to throw the ring over the post stopped to take her pants off in the middle of trying all the while not even getting one ring off! If I was on her team that would have pissed me off. Yeah, it's just a couple of seconds of time, but in that challenge every split second counts.
Going off to their separate camps: I liked the savvy challenge-thought the puzzle was great and the two who did the puzzle did a fantastic job with it. Those two guys who had to drag the coconuts got the worst end of the deal by far! One thing I really, really miss is seeing them build their shelter, looking for food etc. We never see this anymore. Now it's all about finding idols and advantages-oh my gosh! I am so very bored with the vast multitude of idols and advantages that now exist in this game. I didn't care at all for the iron birdcage with the idol hanging in it, but good for Brandon for finding the key, telling everyone about it (yes I think this was the right thing to do since everyone in the camp knew about the iron birdcage) and for using and getting rid of the idol in the first tribal council. Now it's gone and the target on his back is gone too.
And what the actual hell? Why on earth would you use your shot in the dark on the season's very first tribal council when no one has even mentioned voting for you? It makes absolutely no sense! It means giving up your vote and it means you can never use it again. Not only one person (I think Jaime was first to pipe up with telling everyone she was going to) did it, but two! Have these two people never seen one episode of Survivor?
At first I liked Matt (beard Barbershop guy) but why would you go climbing on what I suspect are coral formations or maybe they are just rocks without any shoes? If they are formations of coral they are VERY sharp and even a small slip can cause a sharp tear in your hands or feet. Why risk an injury on your very first day? I know you are super excited to be there but use some common sense. He did end up in a sling and took a chance at being voted out due to his reduced capacity at challenges.
I agree with you all about Carolyn. I'm sure she will soon get on her tribe's nerves. I know if I was on a small tribe with her she would get on my nerves too.
The immunity challenge was a good one I thought since I love any challenge that is a water challenge-this one was only partly a water challenge but I'll take it. Any time they include that gorgeous turquoise water of Fiji I love it! And again, another player was down for the count because of the heat. I'm glad Jeff is keeping a close eye on this, stopping the challenges and taking care of the players. I didn't notice that one team was partially in the shade, but yes I agree with you monklady 123 that did give that team a slight advantage.

I forgot to mention one other thing that bugged me on this first episode...the number of people who said "But I'm here to play!" or "She's here to play!" I was annoyed because really isn't everyone there to play? Everyone wants to win that million dollars. Maybe once in awhile there might be someone who just feels that they will not win and who says "well I'll enjoy myself until I get voted out"... But, I think most of them are "here to play".

I also miss them going different places.. haven't they been on Fiji several times now..even in a row? I'm not that good with keeping up, but it's like the location is not a big deal anymore.

I'm sure it saves enormous amount of money to hold it in the same place--just from infrastructure that has to be constructed. and they may get a deal for making fuji look appealing for vacation.

They aren't moving locations any more because it is cheap to stay and Jeff and the crew can stay in cushy hotels.

Yes exactly! I heard this a number of times last night and I wanted to yell at the TV, "No shit Sherlock, everyone came there to play!" Who comes there to not play? Okay, maybe that one blonde curly haired dude who grew up on a commune several seasons ago-Gabriel Cade from Survivor Marquesas He was there for the experience of trying to build a society. He wasn't interested in winning. But that is very rare.

Has it ever been explained how it’s determined what the contestants wear? I can’t imagine anyone would purposely select jeans. And they were all coordinated to match their buffs. Anyway this seems like a very savvy group so the clothing choices stuck out to me.

Production chooses clothes that match their character.

Anyway this seems like a very savvy group so the clothing choices stuck out to me. They are always color coordinated for their initial tribe. And, yes, production tells them what to wear. That's why Lill wore her Boy Scout uniform in Pearl Islands. It may be part of the reason why she lost to Sandra - the jury expected her to play like a Boy Scout and not a Survivor. survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Lillian_Morris
