Since the jury only took 3 hours to deliberate, I predict a guilty verdict

I think that he did it. However, I will be surprised if a jury finds him guilty. He is a consummate actor and knows too much about trials. I think he planned it all to make it appear as if it were 2 shooters. That his own defense attorney came close to tears in the closing was nauseating.
eta: I just read what was posted while I typed. I am surprisingly pleased.

Glad I’m not a betting person because I thought for sure it was going to be a hung jury. So glad I was wrong.

Guessing the jurors didn't like being lied to. I think they got it right.

Wasn't Murdaugh wealthy even before he started embezzling? We have stopped in Walterboro a few times on our way to the beach and it strikes me as a poorer area. I imagine Murdaugh's wealth and his large property didn't elicit much sympathy from the jury to begin with and then when he admitted he lied, it was all over for him.

And so quick! Court TV said the 1st jury poll was 11 to 1. My sister said she felt sorry for the surviving son. I told her to hold her horses and watch the Netflix series, then talk to me.

For those who believe he is guilty, do you think he acted alone? I watched the Netflix series yesterday, and the way the shootings happened seemed to indicate there were two shooters? I think he is a lying low life and belongs in jail for the rest of his life, but, just wondering the opinions of those who have followed more closely.

I thought he was guilty but thought there would be a hung jury. The guy that did the rebuttal today did really well and I hoped the jury would find him guilty.
I do think he acted alone. I think that Alex thought he would get off. Now that he’s guilty I wonder if he will throw someone under the bus. I don’t even know if that’s possible.😂

I was out with two friends at a wine bar when my phone buzzed with a message from another friend that the verdict was in. One of us pulled the live feed up on her phone and the group gathered around our table screamed when the verdict was read. The owners quickly pulled it up in the big screen TV there and we all watched. There were about twenty of us in the bar and our relief that the correct verdict was reached was unanimous. Sentencing is in the morning.

Quick question, can the relatives of the housekeeper sue Murdaugh's estate for the stolen. money? I'd like to see a bit more justice thrown around. BBC Tony Satterfield was another person who trusted Mr Murdaugh. When Mr Satterfield's mother, Gloria - the Murdaugh's housekeeper for 20 years - died after a fall at work, Mr Murdaugh told Tony and his brother they should file a wrongful death suit against him, and that his home insurance would pay compensation. He even suggested a lawyer who could help sue him. Two of Mr Murdaugh's insurance policies paid out a total of $4.3m, but the Satterfields did not receive a dime. They did not even know the case had been settled. Alex Murdaugh, as he himself admitted in court, had stolen it. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-64645725

There isn't a doubt in my mind that he acted alone. He is far too self-centered to take the blame alone if he did have help. He would put it on someone else so fast it would make one's head spin. I don't know for sure if the family had something to do with the Smith boy's death, but hell, justice was long past due for the Beach family and Gloria and her family. Shows that the good ole boy network isn't as mighty as it once was!

I’m another that thought there would be a hung jury, glad I was wrong!
I didn’t see all of his testimony so I don’t know all of the details. When did he admit that yes, he was at the dog kennel/crime scene? Did that happen during the trial when he testified?
And sentencing is this morning? They don’t mess around!

I haven’t seen the Netflix show, but I’ve listened to Mandy Matney’s podcast and she covers that at length. The hunting property had lots and lots of guns, including guns of the type that killed them. He easily could have used two different guns and gotten rid of them when he left. I didn’t really follow the trial, but I’ve thought he was guilty since I first heard the story. He was there and he had strong motive to do something drastic with everything crashing down on him. May he rot in jail.

Where was the other son during the murders? Do we know if he planned to kill him as well? This was such a bizarre case with all of the different crimes committed by so many family members. The entitlement was strong there. Makes you wonder what the rest of the extended family has been doing- crimes, certainly, but did they forget to teach this idiot how to get away with them?
Im surprised that sentencing is immediate. That doesnt happen where I live

He said the first vote was 2 not guilty, 1 not sure and 9 guilty. It took another 45-60 minutes of deliberation to reach the anonymous verdict.
I.m really surprised the juror spoke out so soon, but I guess this is his 15 minutes of fame.

I thought it would probably be a hung jury too. So happy it wasn't. He definitely acted alone. I thought because he had so much power in that town some of those jurors may have been afraid of retribution if they voted to convict and then he got off.
I am thinking that the atmosphere in this country right now maybe helped get the guilty verdict. From what I have heard Murdaugh is/was wealthy but that area is not. I don't think the jurors are wealthy.
Middle and lower class people are sick of being price gouged while CEOs make millions/billions, utility bills skyrocketing, corrupt politicians becoming multimillionaires etc. plus the fact that the Murdaughs have been getting away with crimes for a long time. Voting guilty was an opportunity to hold a rich and powerful guy to account.
So glad that bastard got what he deserved. He can appeal all he wants to, he will never see the light of day.

I saw the 2 consecutive life sentences. But does that mean he will have a chance of parole? (Even though I highly doubt it would ever be offered.) I am so relieved he was found guilty.
