I need opinions on what is a reasonable time for shipping after placing a regular website order from a small, home based scrapbooking business. I say regular because this was not a pre-order. It’s been 60 days and I have requested updates on my order at least twice. I try to be understanding that life happens….kids, full time jobs, etc might prevent orders from flying out the door but when did this become the norm? And no this is not the other scrapbook business I previously posted about (still waiting on stuff from her, I must be a glutton for punishment). I am starting to feel like there must be a certain level of over commitment with some small business owners - putting out YouTube content, design team work, monthly crops, virtual retreats - that the attention to product orders is just not there. Have any of you experienced this recently? No need to name names. I’m all about supporting the small business but the more this happens the more I want to stick with the big guys, ya know?

There may be some helpful information in this thread from peas who have gone through this before: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/116421/redefined-kreative-shipping?page=1 Personally, I wouldn't care what the reason is or whether or not they are communicating about the reason for the delays. If they cannot get their shit together to provide the service/product you paid for after 60 days (!!) I would dispute the payment with your bank/credit card company because clearly they are unable to fulfill the order. Do not continue to reward their bad behavior with letting them keep your money for weeks/months with nothing to show for it. They are counting on you to "be nice" which really just equates to "door mat" at this point.I am a small, home based scrapbooking business and I am horrified when I hear of shipping times as it hurts ALL of us in exactly the ways you are thinking of no longer supporting them.

There is no reason, whatsoever, to still be waiting 60 days later. If they cannot fullfill the order within aa timely manner, they need to refund you the money you've paid.

I think a business owner should mail something out in a week unless they post it somewhere or communicate that there will be an extended wait time. Don't take my money if you cannot do business or let me know the situation.

I would think that unless it is something special made, they should communicate AND have things shipped within a week. Home-based businesses sometimes only ship on a specific day of the week, but that should be made completely clear. Time for a charge reversal/dispute.

I asked for a refund from an Etsy seller recently after a month of my item never making it past the printing the label stage twice (she said the mail lost it the first time) Small business or not, printing something and throwing it in an envelope (when other people are posting reviews about receiving their item with such quick shipping) isn't an excuse to ship slower than Joann's Unfortunately, no one else makes the thing I tried to buy, so now I can't have one... Sorry, about your item, or lack of item

This kind of thing really ticks me off. If you are a business owner, then OWN your business. I have a small jewelry business, and I get my orders shipped within 3 business days (usually the next day). If you have kids/a family, then make arrangements so that you can fulfill your business commitments. Yes, life happens, but communicate when it does. You don't keep your customers hanging for months. Last year I went to a scrapbook expo, and I placed an order from one of the vendors when I got home. AFTER I placed the order, there was a message that said that the items wouldn't ship until the end of the following month. Umm, what? Yes, the reason was that they were traveling to visit family while they were on the road for the show, and there was no one to pack and ship their orders back home. OK, then maybe you shouldn't take any orders (and people's money) until you get back. I emailed them to express my dissatisfaction, and their answer was that I should have read the notice on their website before I ordered. I explained that that's hard to do if the message appears AFTER you've placed the order.

Unless it was a pre-order and it specifically stated it was a pre-order, or they said they ship only on specific days or they sent you an email stating why your order is so late, I would ask for a refund and if they don't refund, report it to your credit card company or if they used Paypal, report it there.

My son has a NSBR small business, and he also packs everything up and travels to conventions to sell. He often has to ship orders. He ships within 48 hours, excluding weekends (our post office is closed on Saturdays). 60 days is absolutely inexcusable. Notify them that you are filing a billing dispute since they have not sent the merchandise. I think I’ve read that with most credit cards, the deadline to file a dispute is 90 days.

Yes, I did. I am beginning to wonder if I’m just too forgiving sometimes. I really do want our small business friends to thrive but I am finding it really hard lately when I am not getting what I’ve paid for. Grrrrr.

I know I’m not the only one on that boat as there are kit members waiting for months of past kits. Luckily, I was not a subscriber. I was really hoping to not have been burned twice. I can’t be too nice can I

There’s no level of busy that justifies waiting 2 months to send something out. That says to me that they don’t have the thing they’re selling. If they’re manufacturing it themselves or having it made to order it should be communicated clearly that you’re pre-ordering. I agree with others here - this is not OK and it’s time to get your money back while you hopefully still can.

I'm with everyone else - 60 days is unacceptable! I would be contacting my credit card company/PayPal etc & getting my money back ASAP. To me, a reasonable shipping time is to ship within 3-10 business days if the item is not a custom piece.

You are a door mat. Stop it! Stop emailing and call the credit card company. There is a deadline to dispute. Hopefully you have not reached that date. The business does not care about you, why do you spend time caring that a business with bad practices stays in business? Stop it. Go now...call the credit card company. We'll wait.

60 days is far too long regardless of the excuses.
