I'll start...CUPS! Mugs...travel cups...cups for smoothies...iced coffee glasses...sports water bottles! TOO MANY! I am running out of places to put things and the very few that I own end up in the garage because everyone gets really upset if they can't find the cup they want. Sigh. Plus most of them are hand wash only...you guessed it....I end up washing them and those stupid reusable straws.  Spill yours and make me feel better! |

I moved in November so I purged everything ... and I mean everything ... like cups ... lived in my house for 25 years so it was A LOT!  Now, my only problem seems to be paperwork/mail ... I try to be organized but there are still envelopes sitting on the kitchen island that are driving me nuts ... they seem to be reproducing like bunnies!  |

I wish it was spoons. I don't know what my kids did with all the spoons but we have four metal ones, and two people have to use plastic spoons I saved from the frozen yogurt place until I get annoyed enough to buy new silverware. Pretty sure one of my kids is hoarding all of them...
We are drowning in kitchen gadgets... soda stream ("kids" lost all the lids to the bottles), coffee maker we replaced but haven't figure out what to do with the old one, wafflemaker, grilled cheese maker, blender, toaster oven, omelette maker... plus the ones we actually use: bread machine, ice cream maker, coffee grinder, working coffee maker, Kitchenaid mixer, toaster, food processor, Instant pot, crock pot. I don't have a pantry so they're everywhere!

Lego. A couple of years ago I added a desk and a Kallax unit to my craft room so that DS could get all of the Lego out of his bedroom, where he had no space to build anything with it. Needless to say, the Lego has taken over, and I’m juggling boxes of stamps, dies, etc to find space for yet another set of bricks instead. 🤦🏼♀️

What is taking over is….all of the stuff that I have decided I don’t need but have a hard time actually getting out of the house. I have things that I intended to sell and things to donate. I really should just donate it all and be done with it.

Why had just the teaspoons disappeared? Within a year we had lost 2 of the new ones! Fortunately the new set is a service for 12, as long as 12 people don't all need a spoon. |

Medical paperwork. I did a big purge of the kids IEPs and assessments and what not. Kept dd's last one from senior year just in case it is needed when she transfers to a 4 year Uni from community college. And kept last 2 for DS - tri and yearly.
But I have 3 years worth of IgG paperwork with insurance, medical group, state and home health pharmacy. Then years of paperwork for Ds medical formula between 5 different departments. Then all kinds of other paperwork for new teams, current teams, new referrals, test results, etc etc etc.
It has been driving me crazy but I am so glad I hold on to everything because it helped me prove my point when I filed a new state case against home health pharmacy for Ds and then filed with Ca board of Pharmacy.

Right now I’m going to say shredded paper, and paper that needs to be shredded. I filled up an entire 90 gallon trash can with giant bags of shredded paper. It was all stuff that couldn’t just be recycled (and usually I will rip off only the sensitive parts of the paper to shred and recycle the rest) so it would either have to be burned or shredded. I looked online and discovered it will cost $1.59 per pound to have the stuff securely shredded, or for the place to take the stuff I’ve already shredded. 🙄 Yeah, no. We probably have at least 15-20 file storage boxes of old business records that still need to be shredded. But the already shredded paper can be put in the trash which we already pay for anyway. So I filled up a trash can with it and could easily fill up the other one too. Trash day is tomorrow and at least some of it is going out the door.
The other thing we’re being overrun with is outgrown clothes. Some lady on our Buy Nothing group wanted some of it but she never followed up to come get it. The last couple weeks I haven’t been able to take it in to the place where I donate to because of snowstorms or rain on the days they take donations, but that stuff really has to go.

Since NYC outlawed plastic shopping bags from groceries, etc, we have been hoarding reusable bags. But now they are overtaking the house - and still, I'm afraid to trash them, since they cost 5¢-50¢ if you show up at a store without one...

I cannot believe I’m the only one who’s going to say SCRAP CRAP. I shopped my way through COVID and now my house looks like a hoarder house with all the stamps and dies and paper and paint and embellishments overflowing. I need to either use it or start giving it away.
Re spoons: my stainless is still available in open stock. So every few years I count pieces and fill out my set. I try to keep double the number of teaspoons as there is of everything else, and no, I’m not going to tell you that number because you’ll just laugh at me.
Anyway, if you’re buying a new set, try to get something that’s open stock so you can replace missing pieces as the years go by.

Mine is dog toys. I have two small dogs and one of them LOVES to have toys tossed to her so she can catch them. She also likes to carry her favorites all over. When I pick them up and put in a bin (that she CAN get them out of if she wanted) she sits by the bin and cries. She wants them
Strewn all over the house!

I cannot believe I’m the only one who’s going to say SCRAP CRAP. I am a small stash scrapper, so my pile of scrap crap isn't insane or anything. But when you combine that with yarn and crochet projects in progress all over my house, and then now the quilting supplies added in too, I'm being overtaken by crafts. I have a craft room/office that I've been working in since Covid hit and now I'm expanding to Esther's former room for even more crafting space. Jeremy made a joke last week about all my craft supplies and I was like, I don't think two rooms is enough. LOL! I also have a shit ton of Halloween decorations. I love Halloween so much, it is my favorite holiday. I buy some more new stuff every year and my house is decorated corner to corner. There is a small room in my basement where we keep Halloween and Christmas decorations and I have to say, the Halloween ones are creeping out into the regular portion of the basement. |

If you had asked me a couple of months ago, I would have also said mugs and glasses. But over the Christmas break I cleaned out the cupboards and got rid of lots.
I've just got home from visiting my mum at her new house, and helping her put stuff away. I said to her that she has way too many cushions and quilts that are taking up valuable real estate in her wardrobe. And also way too much Tupperware for one person.

Engine parts and tools.
Live on a farm so it's always been a thing. Now however youngest is 25 and always.. always. Working on something, usually a truck of his but, he's currently rebuilding the diesel motor from his big pickup truck.
For example. There's a long abandoned engine block standing on end on one end of the couch. Been there a few years, doesn't even have the truck it was for anymore. Beside it are both of the turbos from the current truck, flywheel and clutch assembly. In bedroom that was my daughter's? The current engine block, both heads, crankshaft and I don't know what else. Tools wind up all over . Really no better place to put things but. Boy really needs a garage..

Dh has never met a spice mix that he didn’t want to try, and since he doesn’t give anyone other ideas for gifts, he gets tons of them for Christmas. The cabinet is overflowing. |

Google shredding events near you. My county just did one in conjunction with their hazardous materials disposal event (twice a year). They had a shred truck so I brought a couple of boxes of papers, dumped it in the rolling can and when that was full they shredded it right there. They said I could stay until the can was full with other papers to ensure it was shredded but I wasn't worried about it. It was free.  My financial advisor said that I could bring my shred to her too because she never fills it up each month and she pays the same regardless to have it emptied. I would say right now everything is taking over my house as I am in a transition period with my "stuff". We moved a year ago and the new house didn't have long term storage room so a lot of stuff got stashed where we could put it and in a storage unit. We recently put down plywood in one of the attics to create long term storage and I am gradually going through everything. The attic looks great, the garage is looking better, the storage unit is halfway empty but the dining room is my war room for processing everything so I have stuff I am going through and then piles that need to be put away or donated (those are in boxes at least, 12 at last count) or sold online/sent to auction. Naturally stuff tends to migrate out to other areas, especially when the kids are around and it's harder to have a chunk of time to process a bunch of stuff. |

Clothes! They are everywhere, but in a couple of months, after my surgery, I plan on trying everything in my closet on, and getting rid of everything that no longer fits properly.
