Hi, fellow Q2 crafters. I'm just getting my mojo back after:
1) missing all of April while out of state (caregiving my father, his subsequent decline following an injury and illness, and eventually his passing) 2) returning home, dealing with grief and funeral stuff, unpacking, laundry, getting back to work, etc. 3) getting hit with a bad cold that turned into bronchitis, from which I'm finally emerging
So, today I'm just trying to revisit my scrap desk and see what I might be able to work on. It will be something small, as I don't want to overdo it. But after sleeping the better part of the last 3 days (following all of the above stuff) I'm starting to get a little restless for some scrapping.

It's been a rough couple of months for you scrappinwithoutpeas - I'm glad that you're feeling a bit better and will be able to enjoy scrappy time again.

I've also been pretty slack on chatting this quarter. I've been plodding along making pages but my mojo has been up and down, I've spent a lot of the last week reading in my down time instead of scrapping. scrappinwithoutpeas I'm sorry for your loss. It certainly sounds like you've had a lot on your plate without getting sick, I'm glad to hear you're feeing a little better.

That sounds like a terrible couple of months. I hope you found some small creative task to get you started.

It's a new month! How was your April? You don't have to turn any points in until the end of the quarter but I strongly suggest adding up the April points (I still need to do mine) soon to make it easier for yourself. May should be a fun scrappy month with iNSD this coming weekend - any plans? I'm doing the SG crop - and then the double points weekend the following week here. grammadee is trying to put together a mini crop for us so please reach out to her if you're willing to host a day - just need to post a sketch, a recipe challenge, and a discussion question and then pop into the thread periodically throughout the day to keep things moving. Well, darn! I bookmarked this thread but stopped getting notifications about it for some reason and now I haven't seen any of the messages since mid-April! I was just reading the challenge list I printed out and realized that I should be calculating points at least monthly... And now I see that you reminded us about that at the beginning of the month because you're an awesome team leader Oh well. I guess I will figure it out. I've been making red white and blue postcards for a charity drive but I'm behind on the photos and sharing, as well as counting points. Sigh. I'm behind on housekeeping and gardening and all of my chores actually. I got some new Doodlebug supplies that I'm looking forward to playing with. I just packed a box full of donations and then realized I have a bunch for holidays that are way off, so maybe I should move those to another box and make some summer cards to send now. Overthinking strikes again!

scrappinwithoutpeas, I'm so sorry for your loss. That is a lot. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better and ready to dip into crafting again. I did not scrap, but I did finish a stripe on the blanket I'm currently knitting, and finally got albums to put away a stack of LOs. So now, while I'm looking through all the albums and how they are sorted, I hear Shimelle in head and I'm seeing how there is no through line or cohesiveness to any of my albums. They were just fine with me until I watched the bridge videos to the albums class LOL. I noticed as I was putting all those LOs away, that I really do love all of my pages. Not in the moment they are finished usually, but later, I love them and I'm so happy I have so many. I've done a pretty fair job of keeping track of points or this quarter.

Do you think that is going to bother you after a while? Once the class has finished will you continue to notice it? I feel like maybe it's not such a big deal for a lot of scrappers. It's so great to hear that you love the pages you're making. I tend to go the opposite way, often wanting to re-do albums.

I don't scrap in order and I tend to pick papers/embellishments that go with the pic/story rather than working from a kit. I'm okay with that and I'm not sure this particular Shimelle class would be a good fit for me for that reason

I got to scrap this afternoon/evening which has been nice. I took time over the weekend to organise all my print-outs of card and layout sketches...they were just stacked here and there and ...a big mess. So I sorted them into card sketches (subdivided into the Scrapload and everything else) and layout sketches (divided into SG and everything else) and put them in binders so they are easy to flip through and find. So far that's already working out better for me.

joblackford Linda - I haven't signed up for the class either, and don't intend to take this one. I can pick it up later if I change my mind. I don't scrap in order, and I also don't store my pages in chronological order either. Each person has their own albums, and any pages I scrap just go in at the back, no matter what year they are from. And I don't mind at all if nothing matches inside. And that's always worked just fine for me, and I've been happy with it. But as I was putting away this stack, I guess I just had that video rolling around in the back of my head, so I started thinking about my albums, etc lol. And then I put in a purple floral type page and it was going next to a LO about the cat that was bright orange and blue like the pet collections are lol. I also realized that I've almost filled 3 albums for DGS and he's 8 lol. And I have no idea which stories I've told, and which I still want to make sure I do, so that I can slow down on his and focus more on the adult kids younger years and mine as well. All of that would be easier if I at least stored my pages chronologically, or by year range even lol. The past couple of years I've been really drawn to PL - maybe because the kids are grown and I'm taking and getting fewer pictures, but a monthly PL spread with 12x12 stand alone stories from the month behind them - ala Shimelle, or very muched inspired by her albums - which would be chronological. I'm really ok with that considering this season of life I'm in. I'm catching the highlights and then also making sure I'm getting to the bigger stories too. If that makes sense. And get an album for the cat too LOL. The more I've been thinking about it, I believe what I want to do is the PL monthly spreads mixed with 12x12's going forward. Which will be more current stuff, and then focus more on pages for the adult kids and just add those to their albums and leave them as they are. Sorry this got so long, it did help me to gather my thoughts and "talk it out"

joyfulnana, I think that sounds like a good approach. I don’t scrap chronologically either and my pets also have their own albums.
I’m thinking about adding PL type spreads into my albums too. I’ve yet to complete a pocket page though.

I’m thinking about adding PL type spreads into my albums too. I’ve yet to complete a pocket page though. I did a couple of PL style spreads last year, using page sketches SG that used lots of photos, and they also offer a sketch package that is for using with 3x4 cards. I print from home, so I can size the photos how I need them to fit the sketch, and use PL cards too. I really like the way they turned out, and that's what I'm going to continue with for now. There just wasn't any album to put them in really which is one more reason I've been rethinking my approach. But I got it figured out, I'll be happy with this going forward. I'll be scrapping with my niece tonight on FB, we do that every week for a couple of hours so I'm looking forward to that after work tonight. I hope you all have a great day!

Hope everyone has nice weather and something relaxing to do this Memorial Day weekend. I’m splitting my time between weeding, sticking old card fronts onto new card bases, and working on some photo book projects. It’s been unseasonably hot and sunny here (more like August than May) but I think we have some cooler normal weather on the way.

Hi Peas. This month has flown by for me - some good stuff (new puppy, 2 family birthdays) and some bad - this weekend my dearest Auntie has moved to hospice so I'm sitting by her bed a lot and don't know what is in store regarding timing of funeral. On top of that, we are supposed to fly out June 2 (next Friday) to take care of my Mom's estate but I feel like my Aunt's funeral is gonna be that weekend so we have to change plans. of course I purchased the cheapest unchangeable plane tickets... so we might be swallowing a $1000 loss because I simply cannot miss this funeral In any case, not gonna be a great points getting for us this quarter but I'm sure glad to have my hobby waiting for me! And online shopping is truly a great distraction

I won't need totals until the end of June but I've found point counting is easier if I total mine up each month. I need to do that today
How is the quarter going? Is summer a busier or quieter season for you? School's out here and I'm hoping to find my mojo and get lots scrapped

Is summer a busier or quieter season for you? School's out here and I'm hoping to find my mojo and get lots scrapped Thanks for the reminder about counting up points! It doesn't make any difference to me but schools are still in session here for another couple of weeks. Our summer weather has come 2 months early, though, so I've been spending my mornings doing weeding and other chores and crafting in the afternoons. That's a pretty good match to my energy if I want/need to get household stuff done. My husband is working on exterior paint again this summer but too high up for me to help. The weeding is a little supervision, a little keeping company, and a little bit me showing that I'm also working on the house, not sitting inside eating bonbons while he works. lol. And it turns out there are enough weeds to keep me going for a long time. I'm finishing up the red white and blue postcards to get them out to the drive organizer and then I can play with the new supplies I bought last month. I have a box of donations for Bring Smiles to Seniors to get in the mail too.

Thanks for the reminder! I need to tally last month’s points.
Summer is busier here. Nice weather = lots of things to do outside.

@petscrapper -I'm so sorry that you're still in limbo. I wish I could fix that for you.
late Fall to early Spring are our nice weather months...this time of year, I tend to stay inside as much as possible because it's hot humid and often thunderstorming outside.
DH bought me three more of the old-style Recollections cubes at the indoor flea market - they were FULL of patterned paper, cardstock, paper pads, page/collection kits. Also two Sizzlet alphas. I should get some nice organising points from sorting through it all and putting it away. I do have the cubes in place already so that's a start.

If I'm reading the challenges correctly ( grammadee)- our final double points weekend for the quarter starts tomorrow (Thursday) and runs through Monday. You can earn double the points on everything - challenges, crafty time, organising...and if you crop with others, you can earn the double points for cropping with others and then double that for the weekend. Hope everyone can find some creative time soon!

I guess it's a good thing that I have been cutting and planning cards this week but not actually sticking them down! I have a pile of at least 30? cards that just need to be glued, sentiments added, and they will be finished. I have been working my way through a 6x6 Doodlebug pad and trying to make sure I distribute the papers and die cuts fairly evenly, minimizing waste, hence the fear of commitment. I will get on finishing this weekend!

Here is my desk at the end of the day - so many unfinished cards! I am going so slowly gluing them down. I'm not sure what my problem is! But when they get done they're going to be a big old pile of happy (cute) Florida retiree vibes, lol. Or at least that's the audience I have in mind (they're for Bring Smiles to Seniors). Anyway, MANY points incoming if I can just keep gluing... WIP cards - June by jo.blackford, on Flickr
