Three videos watched so far today
Jess - flip-thru storage...nothing really new and earthshattering but it was nice to see how she implements it
Allie - wasn't a good fit for me. I tend to organise printable digitally and print as needed - her method was overwhelming to me... so much stuff so many places
Carissa - Her style was the best fit so far for me - A place for everything and everything in its place is how I think also. Her freebie is one I'm sure I'll use again and again.

Julie Balzer's video is to the point, well edited and organized and has some good general principles about ways to store your paper stash and scraps so you can find what you're looking for based on how you would go looking for it (color, shape, size, etc). She shows filing away her "slush pile" into the categories she has set up. Even if you don't do mixed media art I think it's worth watching. She has a huge space that looks abundant and messy but her systems are actually organized and labeled and neat.

General principles? I liked those too. But visually - her room is overwhelming for me and that unfortunately was my biggest take-away so I had a hard time watching her video. I found I needed to listen with it in different tab I also watched Alyce - to me her video was less about organising and more about colouring/blending...but I need help with that so...it actually was a good video for me.

I do think one of my favourite aspects has been this thread actually - we're all taking away different things from the presenters and making some of the tips work for us and that interaction has been great. I am on the FB group and while it is ALSO useful that way - there's just so many participants that it's a bit much at times for me.

I am on the FB group and while it is ALSO useful that way - there's just so many participants that it's a bit much at times for me. I agree! I like that here we all "know" each other a little bit so we know where each person is coming from, whether they mostly scrap or make cards, who has a lot of space and who doesn't. I think that helps in giving and receiving advice. Fbk groups are always overwhelming to me. I didn't expect any of these videos to solve my storage problems. I knew I'd be lucky if I could relate to more than a couple. But seeing all these different spaces and styles is really helping me reflect on what I want from my stuff and my space. I'm considering whether to make some bigger changes in how I store some of my things going forward to better reflect how I use them (like cutting down more of my paper, perhaps) and whether there's anything I could let go of to really improve things. I've got a couple more of must-see videos to watch today and a couple I'll give a chance.

The nicest thing about buying random assortments of solid card stock on sale or to get free shipping or what have you is that I have zero qualms about cutting a sheet or two of each color into panels and filing those by brand in roughly ROYGBIV order in one of SB.Cs envelope organizers (along with some A4 panel paper pads).

I have not watched anymore of the Summit videos this weekend, but I watched one from The Scrappy Wife today on youtube, and she had some neat ideas. She put wheel things on her Circuit machines so she can roll them out from under a shelf easily. Also, she stores her stencils on hooks hanging from a towel bar. I like her pegboard too. I felt like I got more out of today's videos than the last two days. The lady who talked about organizing liquids gave me a few ideas. I was going to skip that video thinking it didn't really apply to me.
Glad I persevered and watched most of them. Loved to see people with small spaces make so much of their spaces. I feel like I can add a few presenters to my subscription list now.

The small tip that I might use out of all the ideas from the videos is numbering the tops of my reinkers to match numbers written on the ink pads (Justine Hovey, pretty sure she's shown it in a YT video too).
It would save a little time when I go to grab a reinker, but on balance I'm not sure I need to take the time to do it. I have my reinkers organized by the color groupings the pads are stored in so at worst I have to lift 8 reinkers up to find the one I need. Not really a big problem so I don't think it needs a solution. Setting aside time to do a reset/reinking once a month or quarter would also fix the problem because I'd lift the whole container out.

Yes, I've seen that tip before, so I am pretty sure it came from Justine. I agree that finding the reindeer would be pretty easy. I am just going to leave that auto correct the way it is.

I use a Cameo, and it is up on a shelf, so I lift it down instead of slide it out. I was disappointed I could not think of somewhere to put it just so I could try this!!!

Got email from Justine this morning (first of many, no doubt) about her five craft room rules. I liked the one about differentiating between a technique you like the look of and one you like to do.
I think I am actually sort of figuring this one out. The expensive way.
Or maybe not. Chances are actually pretty good that participating in Crop & Create and other online classes with products is actually cheaper than going all-in on a type of product on my own. And if I don't take to something or "get" it after a couple of different instructors have walked me through it, it's probably not for me.
And after using a product once in one of these retreats, it should be pretty easy to sell off in that case.

Still digesting what I watched and the discussion here. I got some new paper organizers -- I'd been using leftovers and was struck by the "permission to get new things" or not use the leftovers or whatever it was. I think it will make things more accessible.
I think there are still a couple videos I overlooked that you all recommended, so I have to find time to circle back to those (yup, glad I ponied up the $).
Been thinking about the once your container's full, stop shopping or get rid of things. It's my "new/unused" bin that's full, so that does seem to mean I'm done shopping. Though now I'm pondering things like if I've used only a sentiment from an image set, have I really used it? How about if I created a panel with a stencil or stamped/colored/die cut an image, but not actually made it into a card/finished product?
I've been motivated to post some giveaways. And some folks who frequent the card thread know I have a lot of old supplies and have been making a point to use them up for donation cards. I've made progress and used a few things up, but there's plenty more. And as some of the things I'm trying to giveaway don't go away and I consider creating a box to donate some random place, I do find myself thinking that maybe some more of those older things should be in that box too.
So, progress, I think, and I'm more pleased with the summit overall now than I thought I'd end up being in the thick of it happening.

I only watched the free videos and I did enjoy them for the most part. It was more advertising then I cared for, but I do enjoying looking at craft spaces.
It did get me thinking about my categories. I have all my inks together but I think I might split them into most used and not used as often. I’m already purging and have decided to get rid of a lot of my misc inks. I’m keeping my Catherine Pooler minis, my Altenew cubes and my TH distress and oxides. I will keep various black inks though.
My biggest issue is purging. I did a hard purge with my stamps a few years ago. Then within a year or so, I started making cards for Cards for Soldiers. I ended up needing many of the stamps I got rid of. So I need to work on a better balance.

I ended up needing many of the stamps I got rid of. So I need to work on a better balance. You can't predict the future, and from time to time regret will happen. It's usually worth the risk of regret to have things more organized and easy to use in the short term We also tend to romanticize the things we let go of. Sometimes there was a very good reason we never used them, because they were too x, or not quite enough y. But sometimes life just changes and it's annoying to have to rebuy or make do with things we used to have. I call my purgatory bin either quarantine or "time will tell" (I watch a lot of Minimal Mom and A Slob Comes Clean videos) but it's worked for me in my kitchen for those things I almost never use but when I need them I'm happy to go dig them out of the awkward space where I keep them. I have a similar bag of stamps and dies that I'm procrastinating on selling or donating. I don't have a great out-of-the-way space to stash those so they will probably annoy me enough to be donated soon.

I did windup pulling a few things out but anything that was still in the box a year later I got rid of. I just started yr three of doing this and so far I haven’t regretted or missed anything I got rid of.

I am at this point quite certain that my Color My World free trial period has ended without my ever having added a single thing to it.
But I'm still intrigued by the idea of these kinds of databases.
Can anybody who's used CMW, Airtable, Evernote, or something else entirely to catalog supplies tell me if they've been able to save screenshots of project ideas for the products in their database?

In Evernote you can attach photos. In each of my entries I attach a photo of the stamp/die/stencil. I'm sure you could attach a project idea.

I haven't used Evernote for supply database purposes but I have used the Evernote "web clipper" extension on my Chrome browser to save screenshots and links to various Evernote notebooks. Very quick and easy process.
