Has anyone done one of their Holiday events? If so, what kinds of projects did you do? I don't do a December Daily but I would be interested in Christmas/Holiday scrapbooking or card making. I've done two. They are a mix of cards and scrapbooking. Much more low-key than the card events.

I'd love to know, too, Holiday layouts especially would be fun. I'm planning on signing up for the Fall cardmaking event, and probably the scrapbooking one, too. I usually do PinkFresh, too, but think I'll skip this Fall one - I'm just doing too many events these days. I get serious FOMO, though, so who knows, I may cave at the last minute. Last year I signed up when they re-opened registrations, so at least there is a second chance. I'm not a fangirl, either, but I do enjoy some of the instructor chatter while we're doing things like colouring - I enjoyed Libby's snake story, for instance. But only if it doesn't take time out of the class. I think Stephanie Barnard went a bit too crazy with the Hellos, and naming everyone, but I appreciate her energy lol. I recall being annoyed when someone asked a very open-ended question about the die cutting machine she was using and she stopped to talk about it for 5 minutes - it annoys me that people ask questions like that during a class, and I wished she had said she'd answer that during the Q&A, but that's a really tiny nitpick on my part. But during the classes, don't ask off-topic questions lol. It definitely works best when there is a second person reading comments to the instructor, I find that very professional.

I must have missed that email from SCT. I may have to sign up for this rather than the scrapbooking one. Hmmm, decisions...

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about and I was even more annoyed because I don't think the person was asking about the die cutting machine. They asked what sandwich was used for this die or something like that -- it sounded to me like the person was having trouble cutting the die with their own machine and asking for tips/trouble shooting suggestions, but instead Stephanie launched into the sales pitch for the machine she was using and I felt a little rage.

I thought it was something really open-ended like "tell me about your die cutting machine", but I was actually focusing on the project so I may have misheard, but it really annoyed me. I was like " now, you're asking that question now???" and then Stephanie answered and after a few minutes of just sitting there listening to the sales pitch I started just cleaning my desk area and doing a few things while I waited. Funny looking back, but there is no time to waste in those classes, lol.

So it went up $25? I know the spring price also increased from the fall 2022 price, but I can't remember how much.
Edit to add: It went up $30 from fall 2022.
Fall 2022 card - $260 Spring 2023 card - $290 Fall 2023 card - $315
I don't know the cost for the 2023 Holiday event, but last year (2022) it was $130, and in 2021 it was $110. Not sure if I can afford both this year if the holiday one goes up too.

I look at the line up and think, gee, that looks familiar. Then I look at the class descriptions and some of them sound better than the spring classes from the same brands/instructors.

You can find the class descriptions here: scrapbookandcards.com/crop-create-virtual-cardmaking-september-2023-classes/I'm not sure about fancy fold cards from Gina K. Any idea what she's talking about? What are paper pouncers? Picket Fence Studios I'm hoping Lawn Fawn has some Halloween cards - "for a wicked fun class creating 3 cards" I am happy to see Hero Arts will finally have the sympathy cards. Altenew looks good! "You will create Clean and Simple cards that feature coordinated stamps, stencils, a 3D embossing folder, and dies." Sounds like lots of supplies!

GinaK has been doing "fun folds" recently on her live videos. Im not a fun fold kinda gal. But Im sure I could adapt them to be regular cards.
Lawn Fawn's description always says "wicked fun" I think. I remember the chatter about it last fall.
I havent been a fan of the past few Hero Arts, but im always looking for sympathy cards.
Altenew - I really like some of the new releases they had a creativision (or whatever that thing is called now). I like how their cards look with the clean and simple stencil techniques.
Is it worth almost $400 CAD? I have a few days to decide. I also just checked my work calendar and I work that weekend so I would be doing the classes after the fact, which I have done before.

I’m passing. Too many of the same instructors as the spring one and I’m struggling to get motivated to do about half those classes because the styles aren’t mine.

I read the class descriptions and I’m just not feeling it right now which is such a bummer. Maybe I’ll change my mind next week. Or maybe I’ll wait for the sneak peeks. Decisions decisions.

Looking through the class descriptions I'm torn....I would say that 5 of the classes seem like a solid "yes" from me. The others I either know I don't like that company/instructor's style or the descriptions seem very "meh" to me. I may need to see some of the sneak peeks as well.
I'm also leaning towards maybe just doing the Holiday event...
I need to talk to my bestie and see what she is leaning towards as we like to do these events together.

I posted upthread that I was concerned about FOMO for the fall event. With this additional info, I don't think it will be a problem after all. Besides the ongoing email issues that have soured me on the event, I really, really, REALLY wish SCT could figure out a way to shake up the companies that are included in their event. That said, I'm not fully tapping out until the sneak peeks in a few more months

Decision, Decision....I might wait for the sneaks or for the second time registration.
I do wish for a change on the line up. But if I do the math without tax(I'll have to check if I had to pay for it or not) 345÷16=$21.56/class- thats a great deal with all the goodies we get. I can always destash or gift the unwanted items. Just the Spellbinders kit the 2 dies and stamp set full priced is $65.
Yes...I'm talking myself into it 😆 ,but still going to wait for the second round of sign ups.

I have never participated in an event like this but I am intrigued. I read the thread on the Spring event. It gave me a lot to think about. If I don’t register when it opens at the end of the month, what are my chances of getting in from the waitlist?

Speaking of destashing box goodies, I thought it was interesting that Brandi today in the organization summit said she tries to recoup 80% of the value of an item when she destashes. That seems astonishingly high to me.

I was thinking of trying for 50% of retail for the used once sets and maybe 75% for new in package. Although strangely the LDRS sets, the ones I have no intention of ever opening, are sold out on their website. This seems like the right time to sell, except I'm in a blackout period.

The 80% you mentioned above seems high to me too. I think your 50% and 75% seem like a good starting point. You can always lower it. Re: the LDRS set. I struggled with these cards when doing the homework and the class. I think the pink (sorry!) and the specific age numbers through me off. Anyway, I did the class but used different colors and upcoming ages for two people I know, and ditched the wonky cake. The more I look at the cards, the more they grow on me.

I was really hoping for some change in their class line up and instructors. Definitely not signing up. More than half of these companies are not my style and for some I am not thrilled about instructors.
