We are doing buffet dining at my July wedding. I'm guessing (sent an email to the hotel to find out for sure) that the 8 ft circle tables will not have dishes /glassware on them, but rather the buffet area will house those items.
It will be up to me and my first -time Sola flower mason jar arrangements to make the tables look pretty. The tablecloths are black.
I was thinking 3 flower arrangements per table (It's a small group-- only 40 people, 6-8 tables).
But 3 little old mason jar arrangements doesn't seem like they will be enough for an 8 ft table, especially if I keep them short, so folks can see one another. I'm looking for space-taking up ideas that aren't too heavy or expensive to fill out some space on those black tablecloths.
I do plan to have 3 or 4 photos of fiance and I on each table (nostalgic Polaroid vibe of us when we were kids), but they'll be 4" x 6", which isn't a big space impact.
It's a rustic, burlap type vibe. I thought about burlap or cheesecloth, but not sure how to use a runner or ribbon that compliments a round table, and am not seeing suggestions when I look online.
I'd like whatever solution to fill that space to be light weight and inexpensive. Thoughts?[/di
ETA. I was wrong about the table diameter. It’s 6 ft, not 8.

DD's MIL (a very creative type) used big tree rounds to anchor the flowers and photos. DD's theme was very rustic and the tree rounds looked great!

Could you add some votive or tea light candles in half pint mason jars? My friend’s DD had a rustic / burlap / paper flowers in mason jars decor at her wedding and it was very pretty. I’m pretty sure she had burlap for table runners on round tables and it looked fine.

Oh, I forgot DD's MIL also included votive candles too (well, battery operated because it was July and she got married in a barn so no real candles) and it looked so pretty.

Not as fancy as a wedding, but we had big round tables for grad parties. For one DD we alternated either a square bandana or square of burlap in the center and then had a short stack of antique books with a hazel atlas teacup on a saucer planted with succulents in them (you could sub flowers stuck into floral foam), a mason jar with fresh flowers next to it, then a white metal doily-look cutout candle holder (about 6" tall) next to that was filled with candy. I had some photos on skewers that were stuck in with the flowers. So we had varied heights on the center square. I think the square on the circle table looked good for contrast.
Wish I would have had a picture, she was my book- and plant-loving crafty girl, so it was fun to come up with that together.

Keep in mind that people will be bringing the plates back to table to eat. There will also be glassware on the table.
If the venue is nearby you might want to see if you can try out your idea on an empty table to see what works.

At CKC in Hillsboro we had large round tables, I took my half of the table. So my question of your wedding is, how big is the cake?

I'm horrible at decorating, but the last few weddings I've been to had these ideas:
Ratan (or woven grass) mats to anchor mason jars of flowers and votives.
Wooden wine boxes (or other wooden boxes) to hold potted succulents. The succulents were also the favors for guests.
One used hops (the plant for beer-making) as part of the centerpiece The couple is into beer.

You could group your mason jars on a charger plate. (I did something like that for a 50th anniversary party on round tables). Google 'rustic charger plates' and you will see a lot of choices.

DD's wedding tables had bunches of flowers in assorted jars. Each table had a large, circular metal tray on it, to hold the jars. The tray filled up some space, and "grounded" the jars.

Could you incorporate a string of fairy lights? Cover the battery pack with a matching cloth napkin and work the flower vases in and about the napkin. With the photos, and as pp mentioned, the eating and drink ware, I would think that would be plenty. Doesn't have to go overobard. Or maybe some theme shapped confetti. Some venues don't allow confetti though. These are neat. Wooden Heart Confetti Engraved with Love

Don, I've been to weddings with assorted pies and ice cream in place of cake. Weddings with assorted cookies/ dessert bars. And cupcakes, def. cupcakes.

My friend’s daughter had them in I think four flavors for her wedding. It was great because each guest could pick a couple. I believe they also had a small cake to cut for photos.

I ordered table runners from CV Linens for DS's wedding last summer. They had the best prices, and shipping was quick.

I'm in charge of a charity that rents a clubhouse so we see a lot of weddings and parties and we put on a lot of events. Our tables are 6' so you have a lot more real estate to work with, even though the radius is only 2' bigger. You're right, your arrangements will look a little lost on that size table. The problem with chargers is they're not flat and things don't always sit squarely. A charger is going to be too small for the scale of the tables. The trick is to have them on levels and we use stuff like books, cans or upside-down bowls, just not too high. We use fabric draped to cover the levels and sometimes fairy lights. It gives more heft to small centerpieces. People used to use confetti but we've banned it because it's murder to clean up. Cupcakes? For a wedding? I guess you could freeze a couple for your 1st anniversary celebration. Yes. For a casual wedding it is a trend.

We used log slices underneath little terrariums. We added some votives around terrarium. That little lift made a big difference.

We used log slices at my daughters wedding. FYI - they are not cheap. LOL Unless you have access to a big tree and a good saw, they are expensive to buy large ones. Each table does not have to be exactly the same. It sounds like your decor is not super formal, so having each table or sets of tables just slightly different really is a fun look! Make some risers to lift things up. They won't be super high, just some variation in height, so everything isn't flat on the table. Do you have a Dollar Tree near you? You can find SO much at those places to incorporate. Just think outside the box. You can use glass candle sticks glued (use E6000, not hot glue) to clear plates/platters, or even charger plates. They have some wood look charger plates (sometimes you have to order those - 12 in a case). The gray/wood look charger plates can also be painted with chalk paint if the color isn't what you are wanting. Look for wood pieces at Dollar Tree. Some have a Crafters Square section that has wood pieces. Glue round wood balls for feet on them for mini risers. Here is a link to instructions for making a wood bead tray. You could glue some bigger wood beads (Amazon) to lift it up an inch or so. This might be fun as a center piece on the buffet table: Dollar Tree Wood Bead Tray How-to You can grab 4 small frames from $Tree and glue them together to form a "lantern" and put a battery candle in it (or real votives). The image below is actually 4 wood frames that were small paint canvases from $Tree with the canvas removed and distressed painted. $Tree lanterns from canvas framesYou could do wood risers in all shapes and sizes. Using wood balls for the feet, or wood squares also. At $Tree look for the knockoff Jenga game. That is a bunch of wood pieces you can use as feet for risers. Look for wood rounds, squares, or even mini wood cutting boards to make into risers using the beads or squares as feet. I prefer fake candles...I have a fear of fire. LOL These are my new favorites! They are fake, but look real. Tapers (good with $Tree holders - get some candle wax dots to hold the candle in solidly). Tapers - comes with remote! Takes AAA batteries.
Pilar These tealights are wonderful! They have a 5 hour timer, so if you turned them on a 5, they stay on until 10 - then the next day they come on at the same time again for 5 hours. Batterys last a long time, but I do buy replacements on Amazon - the button batteries. SO much cheaper on Amazon! Flameless Tealight - 5 hour timer

You could also incorporate your beautiful sola flowers into a lantern you make with frames.

THANKS! These ideas are great. I am looking for more horizontal space taker-uppers, rather than items that add height. And lightweight.
I like the log slices, but wonder how heavy they are.

Was just at a wedding that sounds exactly like your vibe.
Her round tables has a length of cheesecloth loosely draped across the table. In the center was a wood tree disc and on the disc was a clear whiskey bottle (no label) with pampas and a few other light branchy type foliage and then a photo of the two of them in high school/dating. The photos hung from the neck of the bottle on twine. I believe there was even a small ring of silk eucalyptus around the bottom of the bottle.
Was very simple and nice. Since it was buffet the table was empty when we fist sat down but quickly filled up with our plates, utensils and drink glasses so it was nice that the centerpiece was very simple.
