I would absolutely wear jeans to see Bono at the Beacon and not think twice. I do not think that price dictates what I should or shouldn’t wear, or what you should or shouldn’t wear. If you want to dress up, I say go for it. I do not, and certainly do not feel obligated to unless it is required by the venue or invitation.
If I accepted an invitation to a black tie wedding I would follow the protocol. If I was attending a venue or restaurant that has a dress code I would follow that also. If there is none I will wear what I am comfortable in and really not feel much guilt over it. I do not equate it with effort at all only personal preference.

I’m thinking about getting tickets to Book of Mormon - does anyone have any input on it??

I’m thinking about getting tickets to Book of Mormon - does anyone have any input on it?? Book of Mormon is hilarious but also highly offensive to Mormons and Christians in general. It’s by the Southpark guys, so you have to have an appreciation for that kind of humor. My church lady grandmother would be horrified by it.

I don't go to see "theater" performances, as I hate plays, but if I'm going to a show in a theater (example, went to see David Sedaris in Iowa City on Saturday) I tend to wear a casual dress with leggings and boots and probably a sweater. I enjoy David Sedaris’ recorded story telling. Did you find his live performance engaging? Unfortunately, he isn’t scheduled to be in my city during his upcoming tour. Yes! I actually went back to Illinois to visit my mom and she had the tickets so it was a great thing to do together. He took questions from the audience after the show and does a book signing (we didn't do that part, too many people in line). That theater in Iowa City has a small intimate feel and we were in the second row.

I've seen it twice eta: Forgot about dressing. I try to dress up a bit, but I wear jeans nowadays. It is all over the map. I tend to do dressier for evening performances bcz we are usually doing a nice dinner then too. But always some type of jacket or blazer, layers bcz theater can be cold. I wish theater goers would mind etiquette a bit better with arrival times. The past few shows I've seen have started 10 minutes late, which used to be unheard of, so ppl can take their seats.

I have to admit that I miss the days when flying, theater, church, or a nice dinner out would merit getting dressed up. There's just such a slovenly vibe these days. (Emits delicate, princess sigh)

We were on the North Loop and about a mile away from the Orpheum since everything nearby was full. I chose Bar La Grassa, but I also know Smack Shack and Parlour are also good in the NL. Thanks for the suggestions! They all look great!
