Linda , thank you for the information. I love your double page. The pinks and greens are so pretty with the colors in your photos. I love the look of the tag and title with rounded corners. Pretty dark pink butterflies against the green circle. Your torn paper edges really set off the floral from the stripes. Beautiful. What about scrapbooking brings light to your life? When I am uptight or worried about something, manipulating paper and cutting and pasting brings me peace and lets the worry slip away. I always feel brighter after a couple of hours making layouts or cards. I also enjoy reliving memories. I am very enlightened when my grandchildren love their cards and pages. Are you a night owl or early riser?I am usually awake at about 6 am, but I awaken slowly and use that time to read, play a video game or watch a bit of TV. I make myself be on my feet and ready for the day by 8:30. I usually go to bed between 10 and 12, but often read for a while then. DH goes to bed at 8:00 but is up and out the door by 5:30. I find I need more sleep the older I get. My forgetfulness is much worse when I haven't slept well. Old age is not all it's cracked up to be.

Look at that sweet little princess, nylene ! Love your take on the Day ONE prompts! Isn't it wonderful when our hobby can bring not only joy but peace? Linda , I love the torn edges of that strip across the middle of your two pager. Good job getting the whole recipe. And I love the columns of squares on that earlier page: are those stamps? That's a design that would work wonderfully with any number of materials. Glad you are taking the time to drop in and chat, PaperAngel . I would love to spend time in your light filled scraproom. And if you are slowly scrapping your ds's life, that just prolongs the joy you get from both his life and your creativity! I hope you get to take on the sketches and prompts later. kitbop , I am NOT a night owl. My usual bed time is about 10PM. I get out of bed about 7:30 in the morning, but have often been awake reading for awhile by that time. My most creative time is from 8 to 11 AM. After that I start flagging, physically and creatively. I remember sleeping in as a teen, and enjoying going out in the evenings when I was younger, but I always wanted to go home before anyone else in my group did. And I was always the one to wake up with the kids when they were little.

kellyr21 - I too am best mid-day at this age! But I still am NOT NOT NOT a morning person. The only reason to get up at all is coffee, IMO! Glad to hear I'm not the only slow to rise person Linda (yes, life is not made for our preferred schedule), nylene (glad that you ignore DH!) and PaperAngel! grammadee and pantsonfire - we are definitely a different breed. I think a lot of it is built in/genetic. My kids are all night owls and we did NOT encourage that! I did push myself tonight to ignore the siren's call of bed and try to scrap. I completed today's sketch and will post tomorrow - thanks grammadee !!! nylene and Linda - really like the way your sketch pages turned out! Linda - I started with Paige Evans pp with pre-made rays, and just cut them apart to rearrange them for the colours I wanted. It would have been a mess if I'd done it "from scratch"!

And...now that I think of it... I'm going to get the DAY 2 PARTY STARTEDIf I post it now, I don't need to wake up early on my day off THEME: Let's have FUN!!!Consider Parties! Game nights! Theme Parks! Silliness! Picnics! Waterfights! Swinging! Roller Skating! Trampolining! Playing fetch with the dog! Think action, think sunshine, think laughter. I chose the upcoming sketch for the Scrapbook and Cards Today by Alison Davis. It will be in their summer release. Shimelle worked with it last week. However, she only did a few "rays", they were much bigger, and they were VELLUM and not ANGLED so it was less fussy to complete. sct alison davis sketch summer by kirstendrew, on Flickr I followed Shimelle's lead and kept the rays simple. I chose to use my branding strip collection. I didn't fuss at all about angles or numbers or anything. If they were blue, they were good, I stuck 'em down. And didn't mess with stitching this time either. layout families that ninja together by kirstendrew, on Flickr My RECIPE today features the word "SMILE"! S = use scraps M = put "me" (aka you) on a layout! I = ink - could be inky edges, stamping, or using other markers to colour or doodle (journaling doesn't count tho) L = Labels - add some labels as layers or, hey, as labels! E = Edges - tear, distress, punch an edge, or hand-cut a fringe or scallop. CHALLENGE TEAM MEMBERS:There are bonus points for scrapping along this weekend! First, you get bonus points for creating (so 40 instead of 20 for a layout ) Sketch--Use it any time for the rest of this quarter for FIVE points. DOUBLE if during the crop days. Colour scheme/theme--TWO points for the rest of this quarter. DOUBLE if during the crop days Recipe of at least 3 stash items--one point for each item + bonus for all together on one project for the rest of this quarter of FIVE points. DOUBLE if during the crop days And if you "ticking" off challenges on your master monthly list - you get TWO ticks instead of one, which could make your bonus levels appear that much more quickly! I'll be back in the morning to chat and scrap! See you then!

And I love the columns of squares on that earlier page: are those stamps? That's a design that would work wonderfully with any number of materials. The squares are actually punched - I picked up an old CM punch with the two sizes in one for $1 at a thrift store last month - this was the first time using it

Good morning croppers? Anyone here? Seems a little empty this morning! The weather here is absolutely PERFECT so I can't scrap the whole day away but I'll put in an hour before I head out for chores. This is my take on grammadee s sketch yesterday. I cut apart rays from a Paige Evans pp so the rays were easier to fit together, and I chose only the colours I wanted. I used some Doodlebug fairy stickers because...when else am I going to use those? And the title stickers are Pink Paislee stickers from 2007 and I'm always so glad to use really old stash! layout the finder by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Today - I'm asking posters to play a game with me that I'm calling "I recommend". It can be scrap related - or NOT! We can talk movies, food, life wisdom, or scrap supplies I'll start with a random recommendation - something I love and think others would like too - and then I'll ask for a recommendation for something else. The next poster will answer my question if they can (or say they don't have any wisdom on that question!) but you are also welcome to chime in on the previous questions and answers! If you post - please ask for a recommendation too! I RECOMEND: "Art Glitter Glue". If you haven't tried this stuff, it's da bomb. If it dries on your paper, you hardly notice it. It dries quick and I love the fine tip metal nozzle you buy separately. It's economical if you buy the refill. I've tried so many others and this one, for small imperceptible reasons, seems better. I know other peas love "Bearly Arts" and I'm guessing it's similar, but I'm so happy with Art Glitter that I'm on my 2nd refill bottle and don't plan to bother trying Bearly Arts! WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?I need shows to watch on Netflix, Amazon or Disney+. We don't get Hulu or HBO - but will download a good series if you recommend. DH and I like a show to watch together and we're currently between relationships We prefer a series, not just a one-and-done movie. I prefer something fun/happy but will watch drama as long as it's not related to mobs/crimes. Some examples of shows we've watched and loved: Brooklyn 9-9, 30 Rock, Community, Mad Men, Mrs. Maisel, Shitt's Creek, Better Call Saul. No, I didn't do Game of Thrones

Thanks kitbop! Got an idea for how I can use this sketch. Not sure if it will come together before I need to drive into town for my dr appointment. And the photo I have in mind does not have me in it, so I may need a second page for the recipe. Hmmmm...

I love your take on my sketch, kitbop. Will look at it more closely in the Gallery.
I RECOMMEND: I really enjoyed the series on Disney+ about a fired NBA basketball coach and his new job coaching high school girls. Big Shot I think it was. Will go check & confirm. What do YOU recommend: I am still looking for a way to use those random diecuts that come with collections but don't fit anything I am scrapping.

Love love love your layouts kitbop So bright and cheery. I'm getting ds settled in for the day. He is watching Grinch Night while drinking his formula. Then will take him to school and run an errand. Will be able to play later this morning. Doing some chores now so I can sit and play. I need to post a photo of the day 1 challenge layout.

beautiful layout kitbop - love the colours What do YOU recommend: I am still looking for a way to use those random diecuts that come with collections but don't fit anything I am scrapping. I either use on cards or occasionally (and I'm trying to do this more) add them into clusters where the colour works - I can always cover up the parts that don't work WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?I need shows to watch on Netflix, Amazon or Disney+ I'm not a TV watcher in general but my family did get me to watch the various Disney+ Stars Wars spinoffs - Andor, The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett... What do you reccommend? We're hopefully taking a vacation (just me and dh) this summer to Helen GA - anyplaces near there or between there and Florida you would suggest stopping and seeing?

I have no recommendations for Streaming programs because we don't have streaming, maybe someone else can give you ideas, kitbop . No recommendations for travel for you, Linda . I have only been to FL and GA twice and only for Golf Course conventions. Sorry. grammadee , I have a bunch of those die cuts and don't know what to do with them. I do tuck them under photos for layering sometimes, just letting a little of the color show. What do you recommend?I love my handful of Distress and Oxide inks and would like to buy a few more. What colors do you find you use over and over. I would love recommendations. These don't fit today's theme but I finished them last night and they seem to fit the color scheme. Will work on the whole challenge sometime today. Birthday PartyBirthday Party

Here ya go, kitbop. Used the sketch. The people who got to crop were having FUN. Used Scraps, there is ME in the photo in the middle, I was so focused on getting the Labels that I forgot the INK. But will add some splatter later, snap a pic and pop it in here with TapaTalk. I did different ends on the strips for Edges. The one that got away by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Gotta go & get ready to drive to town. Have fun, people!

I adore my distress/oxides and find I am wanting to fill out my collection because they are so versatile. My most used colours: evergreen bough, kitsch flamingo, salvaged patina, mustard seed, broken china, chipped sapphire. But I think that is because of my own colour preferences? I also would always recommend: picked raspberry, prize ribbon, lumberjack plaid, uncharted mariner, spun sugar, villainous potion and ground espresso. It's so hard to choose!

Linda I LOVE your page with the rays, it turned out amazing! And I love that you got your DH to sketch it out for you! When i first started scrapping, I wanted to do a background to match my photos, with paving stones and shrubs. I can't draw for quids, so I got my dad to draw the background for me.

Just finished a layout for DD. 99% of the items used are from my recent Pinkfresh grab box! I am trying to use up the papers I received so when the new box is released, I can get it again and not feel flooded or overwhelmed. I will post a picture after dinner.

quickly popping in with the Day Three challenges THEME: Best Day Ever...it's a scrapbooking cliche, right? So you don't have to pick a single BEST EVER day but you could pick a best right now day or follow my lead and pick one that certainly wasn't the best. Sketch: I found this one on Pinterest and wasn't able to track down the original. Recipe: Peas is the Recipe Word P = patterned paper with words/text E = embellish with a circle A = accent with RED S = strips of paper (or cardstock) Here's my sample: Discussion Question: If you were designing a collection, what types of papers and embellishments would you include? I would choose 2-3 colours/shades of colours for my collection. Patterned papers would include thin stripes, small dots, small stars, a small floral and a larger floral that would work for fussy cutting...oh and hexagons that could be used as is or cut apart. Embellishments would include stickers and die cuts of tags, hearts, stars, arrows, word strips, filmstrips, and frames. And of course coordinating enamel dots and alphabets (perhaps 2 sizes and colours?)

YES to the lemon tiramisu! Looks yummy scrappyrabbit ! Linda - love the sketch and your page. I have spent the evening making a kit to use for the next series of photos and perhaps create a more cohesive "chapter" in an album. Yes, Shimelle is currently my influencer! My collection: around 5 colours or shades. : 5 basic single-colour backgrounds: simple pattern, distressed or watercoloured, can have white mixed in. could be woodgrains too : about 12 patterned papers: some single-colour stripes, multi-colour plaid, polkadots (maybe ombre), a floral, a star paper, maybe a heart paper, maybe a camera paper, maybe a cloud paper, a tag paper is a must, some 3x4 cut apart journaling pieces : enamel dots including some hearts and stars : die cuts in basic shapes - labels, hearts, arrows, stars, word strips, plus some thematic items : a small puffy alpha in a few different coordinating colours. Like PinkFresh and cocoa vanilla has made a couple of times : a sticker set that included some florals, labels, words, circles. Could add some thematic items. I picked up the new Spectrum Gardenia today. The colours are gorgeous. I didn't buy any rub ons - there are SO SO MANY and they are so expensive and I'm not convinced I'd use them (or know how to use them to good effect!)

grammadee, great job on today's sketch. I love the variety in your sunburst strips. I will take a closer look in the gallery. pantsonfire, I love your Zebra Strong! The border of zebras is perfect. That was smart thinking using the sunburst patterned paper. It works with your layout and brings the focus right to the photo. Nice take on the challenge. Linda, I love the sketch you chose and love your page using the smaller canvas. That will make it easier for me! I love that you used the NOT best day ever. It made me chuckle. Sorry it was a miserable day, though. Great recipe. I'm sure I have text paper pieces in my scrap box. It will be a fun challenge. Thanks for hosting it. Here is my page for today. I didn't use the color scheme, but did use the sketch. I used scallop scissors for my edge, inked the flowers, used label stickers and mostly scraps. But I have no "me" in the photos. There are glittery gold mats behind the strips and behind the photo but they scanned as gray or black. Our Little Rapunzel

Mmmmm, scrappyrabbit, I love your party treats! Thanks for the new sketch and prompts, Linda. Discussion Question: If you were designing a collection, what types of papers and embellishments would you include? I usually scrap by theme, so the first thing I would be putting in the kit would be some themed elements. When I packed to go to my dd's for a few days, I packed my hockey papers and embellishments. I may pre cut some items at home so they are all ready to pop onto the page. My kit will also include at least a couple of sheets of cs for backgrounds &/or matting. In the case of a hockey kit, those would be in team colours. If I have time, I may do some stenciling or other ink or wet media work on the cs I pack. And then I would need letter stickers or thickers to match. nylene I am heading to the Gallery to take a closer look at your sweet page.

nylene - Eddie is adorable - how is he two already?those blues and yellows are so pretty together! grammadee - love that yellow background with the colourful rays! pantsonfire - I love the striped letters you used - and that ray paper is perfect! I'm trying to use my Pinkfresh box also (although mine isn't so recent) Thanks AussieMeg scrappyrabbit - that looks delicious -thank you for the recipe kitbop - good luck with that more cohesive look. My albums are only cohesive in the sense that every page is different but that works for me. Your collection sounds great - I would buy it nylene - what a lovely rainbow of rays drawing the eye right to Swayzee - love it a hockey collection in the team colours sounds perfect for you grammadee

I RECOMEND: "Art Glitter Glue"... WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?I need shows to watch on Netflix, Amazon or Disney+. ... Is Art Glitter Glue archival? We're old school & still watch cable... What do YOU recommend: I am still looking for a way to use those random diecuts that come with collections but don't fit anything I am scrapping. Since I'm not a themed scrapper, I rarely buy heavily themed embellishments. My solution is to toss undesired diecuts/chipboard/etc. into the donation box in my craft room & drop it off at a charity once full (most recently, an after-school art program for at risk students). What do you reccommend? We're hopefully taking a vacation (just me and dh) this summer to Helen GA - anyplaces near there or between there and Florida you would suggest stopping and seeing? Consider stopping in Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN, Botanical Gardens, Zoo, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, various museums, nearby hiking, & more. What do you recommend?I love my handful of Distress and Oxide inks and would like to buy a few more. What colors do you find you use over and over. I would love recommendations. I only use pigment inks & prefer neutrals for basic stamping, stenciling, inking edges, etc.

Here's my version of the day one sketch. I'm especially proud to have used scraps that were sitting on my desk because they were too good/precious to throw out for seven of the nine rays. This is for my 2010 album so I'll add journaling about some of the changes I had experienced that year below the title.
