DISCUSSION QUESTION: We can chat about anything you like. But I was wondering what about scrapbooking, papercrafting, cardmaking brings light to YOUR life? There's so much about this hobby that makes it a good fit for me: I love the friendships I've made, I love seeing all the new supplies and imagining the possibilities, I love finding old favourites in my stash or in destash sales. I love telling stories and taking photos, and I love how all those things fit together in scrapbooking. It's also important to me to tell my stories. My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's from quite an early age, and I was too young to really understand the benefits in documenting her stories. By the time she died it had been several years since she remembered she had children or grandchildren, and the only stories she could tell were largely incoherent to us without the context of wherever she was in her mind. I guess I just want the comfort of knowing my stories are told, and after I'm gone others can decide if they hold any importance to them.

Linda I love your little furry helper! Mine helps by tipping things over or tries to eat my supplies, I'd be delighted if she just sat peacefully beside me. I love how you've paired the two patterns on your first page together and bordered the cap paper with the green on your second one, it's the perfect match for the cap and gown. I really like the graduation page with the red/white/blue banners, and the clusters of flowers and stars are just lovely. Your Storytime page is lovely, the blue and that brighter green really make your photo pop, and I love how that book themed pattern leads straight into your photo. The lines of punched squares on Neigh are a beautiful mix of colours, I like how you've got the brown tones closer to the photos and those deep greens at the bottom. The colours are also beautiful on the Friends page, that torn black edge pulls my eyes straight to the photos and I love how it pops against the patterns. I'm crazy for that little pop of the burgundy paired with all the neutrals on your Not the Best Day page. pantsonfire your Happy Day page is so pretty, I love that multicoloured strip and I'm intrigued by the ASMR colouring book. You've chosen the perfect alpha for the Zebra Strong page and I love the strip of zebras. The heart paper is perfect for your story.

What time do other peas tend to hit the hay, and get up in the morning? Are you a night owl or an early bird? Has this changed since you were young? I've been both an early bird and a night owl at different times in my life but I'm probably more of an early to bed person. I've been sick the last couple of weeks so I've been in bed really early, before 8:30pm most nights. In winter I like to go to bed and get cosy but will likely read until 10:30pm or so. I like the idea of mornings more than I actually like getting out of bed, so while I'm working from home I'll often get up, feed the cat, then go back to bed until 8am.

scrappyrabbit your tiramisu looks amazing. My purist DH would be horrified (tiramisu is his favourite dessert) but as someone who doesn't like coffee I'd definitely be in for this one. What do YOU recommend: I am still looking for a way to use those random diecuts that come with collections but don't fit anything I am scrapping. I'm no help, I just get rid of mine. What do you recommend?I love my handful of Distress and Oxide inks and would like to buy a few more. What colors do you find you use over and over. I would love recommendations. I love Tattered Rose, Speckled Egg, Spun Sugar, and Stormy Sky. I lean towards the colours that have a more grey undertone to them but these are the colours I make sure a most accessible in my stash as I reach for them often. Discussion Question: If you were designing a collection, what types of papers and embellishments would you include? Well your collection sounds very appealing and I'd probably buy all of kitbop's too. I'd want a good floral that could be easily fussy cut but also used as it is. I love a good watercolour wash background in pale pink or aqua, and tone on tone prints that are good for layering but can also be used in bigger blocks. I'd want to see hearts and stars and polka dots and random dot prints. I'd also love some journaling cut aparts in different sizes. For embellishments I'd have lots of labels in different sizes and colours, some perfect for tucking behind photos, and others that are big enough to add some journaling to. I'd want a full pack of floral die cuts with lots of leaves and other little bits to add to my floral clusters. I'd have little word strips that are full of words that can be used on all types of pages (and probably include several of the words others are stick of seeing like today and hello). I'd definitely want two different title options, either a set of pre-made words or a large and small set of alphas. I'd have some die cuts and stickers, but they'd be designed to work together rather than replicate the same designs across both formats, and some enamel dots and puffy hearts or stars to finish off.

Here is my page for today. I didn't use the color scheme, but did use the sketch. oh my gosh nylene that layout screams FUUUUUN! Did you notice that even though I had decided on the recipe before scrapping, I too missed the "me" part of it? Hee hee oops. I actually did not "set" a colour scheme! I kinda skipped over that - my original plan was to ask people to use at least 3 colours on their project (aka FUN!) so you met my challenge without me saying it. ESP Chinagirl828 - that is absolutely gorgeous! Remember when pink and brown were super popular in 2003/4/5? I loved it then, but now I find it feels...dingy? But that pop of mint is *chef's kiss*. Hope you feel better and shake off the remnants of your mystery illness. pantsonfire - I love your lovely airy titles; your layouts both feel like a "breath" with the colours and florals. I like your multi-paper photo mats/layers! See you ladies after work!

Consider stopping in Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN, Botanical Gardens, Zoo, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, various museums, nearby hiking, & more. Thank you - adding those to our list of things to consider Chinagirl828 - that's beautiful - great job using precious scraps. I love the title!

Linda I love your little furry helper! Mine helps by tipping things over or tries to eat my supplies, I'd be delighted if she just sat peacefully beside me Dusty also eats my supplies...there are plenty of papers with embellished edges of tiny holes and my rulers all have teeth marks as well. It's a good thing he's so cute. I'd have some die cuts and stickers, but they'd be designed to work together rather than replicate the same designs across both formats YES please - I've never understood why they use the exact same designs in chipboard, sticker, and die cuts. pantsonfire - LOVE that yellow and what a pretty dress.

Chinagirl828 so the ASMR coloring book has different sections. Lots of different types of coloring pages too. It suggests a YT channel to listen to as you color. Dd got into ASMR during the height of Covid to help with her anxiety and OCD. A channel we both like received a free copy and did a review on it. SobI was like oh this is perfect for dd. She really likes it. Now she wants to try the reverse coloring book.

Hey Linda. Here is my LO for today's prompts. The best day is On the Ice by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I need to do the journaling yet. These are two sisters. The 12-year-old (left page) received the award for best player from her team moving up to the next level. The 17 year old (right page) has been accepted into a prestigeous Hockey Academy for the next school year. Got the sketch, hopefully all four elements, and begging you to give me the theme... After I placed "is on the ICE", I spent a little time looking for what I thought must be HUNDREDS of phrase stickers in my stash that say "The Best Day EVER", but of course could not find any. So I used the beautiful day sticker instead. But believe me, the thought was there for your theme.

I had planned to scrap all day today, but plans have changed since dh will not be at his nephew's farm for the whole day. But since his plans have changed, and I don't know when I will be interrupted, I think I will spend some time fussy cutting hearts for a Paige Evans page from Crop & Create. I want to use it in my dgd's grad album, but can't do the page until I cut out about a hundred hearts...

pantsonfire , I love the fonts on your Lovely page. That print on that pretty dress is reflected throughout your page. I especially am drawn to the photo because of the triple matting. Adding dimensional dots to the center of the flowers makes them pop too. This page is really LOVELY! I'm sure your DD loves it. grammadee , what beautiful and talented granddaughters you have. I will go take a closer look in the gallery. Chinagirl828 , I caught your page in the gallery. You have such a beautiful way with color. Gorgeous page. **Thank you, everyone, for the suggestions of Distress and Oxide inks. I think I will begin filling in some blanks in my colors from your suggestions. I would love to own them all! My scrapping will have have to wait until tomorrow and Monday. We are heading off to DGS's wedding.

I actually had the same problem...my original plan was to use a phrase sticker and just add the NOT but of course, I couldn't find a single one. Yes - you get the credit, lol. Great layout -I love the hockey is my lifeline paper - perfect for your talented granddaughters! sorry your day has gotten derailed - good luck with all those hearts! nylene - best wishes for the wedding couple!

I'm super late to the party. Darn work. But my grocery shopping is done. I got home and my clothes felt constricting so I'm back in comfy sweats and T-shirt and ready to stay in for the rest of the day. I'm ready to dig into these sketches and prompts! And also to start catching up on this thread. DISCUSSION QUESTION: We can chat about anything you like. But I was wondering what about scrapbooking, papercrafting, cardmaking brings light to YOUR life? I've long loved photos, especially taking them. Scrapbooking is the best of both worlds, photos and stories. I love having more complete memories to look back on, and while I am in the midst of the creating the page, sometimes the product is the thing I'm focused on and I'm having the most fun with, and the product is a big part of the joy for me. But I love having stories of things that would have long been forgotten about if I only had photos albums. WOW grammadee I love your LO! The Bright colors with the grass and the soccer balls background, are eye catching! As well as the photo collage, that title is amazing! Linda love your little helper there. I wish my helper would sit to the side and not lay in the middle of everything I'm trying to do lol. That's an awesome grad page! I love the half and half design with the tickets at the top. And the grad embellies are the perfect finishing touch. I’m enjoying all of your grad pages Linda those SG papers are nice. I don’t have that line, but I love how easy it is to cut apart most of the cut a parts they offer. Your last grad page - that face! LOL. May 11, 2023 12:13:13 GMT -5 pantsonfire said: Oh and if you have any of the PinkFresh papers and embellishments from their grab boxes, a lot of the items go really well with Flower Child, the new paper line by Jen H. I used both companies on the layout. Thanks! I have some pieces of Flower Child coming in my iNDS order and I have tons of PinkFresh from their grab boxes, and so much more lol. Your page is sooo pretty. I love the soft colors and those butterflies say Happy to me. Beautiful!

RECIPE: include at least one item on your project to represent each of the following: Let there be L (lined or striped pp), I (insect(s) like ants or butterflies), G (something green), H (handmade--so fussy cutting, hand stitching, doodling handwriting,...), T (at least one torn edge). DISCUSSION QUESTION: We can chat about anything you like. But I was wondering what about scrapbooking, papercrafting, cardmaking brings light to YOUR life?
I like to look at pictures and re live those memories, sometimes amazing, sometimes just every day. I also like making cards because I like the thought of brightening someone else's day unexpectedly. I keep a running list of people I send cards to, it's fun! http://instagram.com/p/CsMD7WaurTq

Oh kmage ! I LOVE that happy page! So much light and love. The colours are really pretty, and I love that you used strings of flowers on the rays. Linda , the rainbow colours on a rain page are a wonderful twist. Did you ink that background? Or was it already coloured like that? And the other page with the narrow rays eminating from that sweet photo is just stunning. Awesome adaptation of the sketch!
I will be heading out soon for the evening, but will check back here in the morning. Got my hearts all fussy cut. Hoping to get the page together on Monday morning during the on line crop.

Popping in with Day 4 Prompts..... THEME = 5 Faves - Scrap your 5 favorite somethings, anythings. Things you love, people you love, songs, movies, anything goes. I have long wanted to do a top 5 list about lots of things, but when I found this photo it instantly brought a list to mind. This pagemaps sketch from May 2023, was exactly what I was envisioning. Now that that I've finished, the page just seemed to morph on it's own. Almost to the point of toooo busy for me, but I'm really happy with it. Pea day crop day 4 by Joyfulnana, on Flickr 5 Fav Memories by Joyfulnana, on Flickr The Recipe today is FIVE F= use 5 of one item, dots, stars, numbers, patterned paper, 5 photos, etc. I= Inky Ink edges, use stamps, stencil, any ink, any way. V= A view of you. Include yourself somewhere on the page. In a photo, in the story, or using your own handwriting, or first person journaling. E= embellishing - use puffy stickers or alphas Discussion Question - What's on in the background during your scrappy sessions? I've been finding that once I had a TV in my space, I get sucked into anything except sports and just end up watching and not scrapping. Now I'm more likely to listen to a podcast- scrappy ones or true crime are my favorites. Or I may put on some music. Nothing that requires my eyes lol. grammadee

You all have made some lovely pages and the prompts are fun grammadee! nylene- Recently, I was watching Tim Holtz do some demos on distress inks and oxide inks on YouTube. Discussion Question: If you were designing a collection, what types of papers and embellishments would you include? I wish for a versatile, non-themed, white-based, clean, & modern collection that can be paired with other colors to use on any layout. Perhaps classic men's suit-inspired patterned papers (e.g. plaids, stripes, herringbone, houndstooth) in a neutral color palette (e.g. white, cream, black, charcoal, grey, midnight, navy) with usable embellishments (e.g. labels, journaling cards, alphas stickers, matte enamel dots) & tools (e.g. classic patterned/basic stencils, wood-mounted background stamps, alpha dies). ETA: Discussion Question - What's on in the background during your scrappy sessions? Like Linda, I prefer silence but will occasionally turn on music (usually jazz).
