Wow. This is crazy. This is so close to what happened to Diana. I know that they keep putting themselves out there even though they said they don't want any of this but geez, just leave them alone and don't kill innocent people trying to get a damn picture. Link Are you just not going to come back and explain why you made that the title?

If the police were not involved then why not call 9-1-1? NYPD would have sent resources to assist them. Racing away for 2 hours and no one called 9-1-1 to report a chase and multiple near misses? Everyone with a cellphone calls 9-1-1 for those calls.
I don't care what they do with their lives but I often wonder "if you don't want a public life then why write books and appear on talk shows?"

So they were sitting there, not moving. Then the NYPD was Luke move dammit and they headed out. Yeah...such a horrific chase there.

The end of the video went rogue, but the beginning was maybe interesting, if it was indeed shot last night. Wasn’t it reported in the original articles that Meghan’s mother was with them?

This seems like a publicity stunt. I am sure they could have called the police and not have to drive crazy and risk lives. I really don’t think that many people here care what they do. It seems most of the time when you hear about them it’s because they have reached out not because someone snuck a picture or dug up dirt on them.

I don't think this story is going to go over well for them. Dammit Harry & Megs, get it together.

Are you just not going to come back and explain why you made that the title? Maybe because thats how TMZ worded their article...? She didn’t link to that article, though. The article she links to in the OP does not have that title, so justifying it by some random video she didn’t link seems pretty bizarre.

Did I miss something? I don’t see anywhere that there was a crash or accident of any kind. Agreed, didn't see anything about an actual crash. They shouldn't be 'chased' by photographers to the point where there are close calls with other vehicles, though.

They really need to stop and think long and hard about their choices, imho. They can't seem to get their shit together and just live their best life. If they truly do want to live quietly, it wouldn't be hard but they seem to seek drama at every turn. I read an article from the BBC and there was an interview with the cab driver. From the cab driver: "Asked about the description of a "near catastrophic chase" he said "I don't think that's true, I think that's all exaggerated". He said he didn't feel in danger and that the police weren't following - "they only helped when we were blocked by the trash truck they honked and then they went their way we went our way"." Just all round strange.

Not a hater, but Jesus, all this so people don't know where you're sleeping in NY? Umm what. A whole lot more famous people then you have to deal with that every day. If it's really that embarrassing, don't stay there - or don't go to NY. This is just utterly manufactured and yes the OP really needs to change their title as I thought there was an actual crash.

Nothing to see here, just H&M trying to pump up their PR creds. After all, the coronation is over and there will be few (if any) future royal events they will be involved with that will give them the PR they crave. People are tired of them and they can't seem to get news coverage unless they fabricate it on their own. They've already shown they will do/say anything to be front and center in the news. This is just the latest exhibit.

i just hope their children don't have to go through this. they have been kept mostly out of the spotlight but as they grow older and are in public more, i think they will be pursued by the paps too. hopefully not as aggressively. so long as media outlets pay for photos, the paparazzi will buzz around.

I think they're realizing that few people are still interested in hearing from or about them. Their lives are probably lonely at this point. That's what people don't realize about leaving a toxic family. It's for sure the right thing to do, but life afterwards can be very isolated and sad. I've been there. Being so public about the split opened them up to tons of criticism. That's probably traumatized them further. They would've been much better off without the books and interviews.
This looks like a plea for attention and sympathy, imo. Orchestrating their own Diana-like moment. I think it's ridiculous, but I feel bad for them at the same time. I don't think there's a lot of happiness in their future.

I don't think there's a lot of happiness in their future. It’s really too bad. They have plenty of money and could just fade into the background and have an amazing life. They could raise their children out of the spotlight and not have the issues that Harry had.

Prince Harry, his wife Meghan, and her mother, Doria Ragland, were followed by paparazzi as they drove through Manhattan Tuesday night in what a spokesperson for the couple said was a dangerous chase but the police characterized as somewhat less dramatic. The family had been at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan to attend the Women of Vision awards, where Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was one of the honorees. Around 9:50 p.m., the family left the theater to return to the Upper East Side where they were staying, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the matter. Concerned that paparazzi who had gathered outside the theater would follow them, Prince Harry and Meghan left in a private security vehicle with a police escort, the official said. They were driven around for about an hour, traveling up the F.D.R. Drive at one point, but they could not shake the paparazzi. The police then escorted them to the 19th police precinct on the Upper East Side, the official said. They remained at the precinct while the police blocked traffic in the area. Prince Harry, Meghan and Ms. Ragland, escorted by at least two police vehicles, then got into a taxi and left, losing the paparazzi in the process. A spokesman for the New York Police Department confirmed that officers had assisted the couple’s security team Tuesday evening. “There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging,” the spokesman, Julian Phillips, said in a statement. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests.” The spokesperson for the couple had described the incident as a “near catastrophic car chase” that had lasted two hours. At an unrelated news conference on Wednesday morning, Mayor Eric Adams condemned what happened as “a bit reckless and irresponsible.” (From the NYTimes)
It sounds like there was papparazzi outside the theater so the NYC police escorted H&M to the local precinct and they then took a short taxi ride home. Not very near fatal sounding - just the usual photographers etc. on the scene.

Creating more puzzlement over the story:
The cab driver who drove them from the police station said he instantly recognized his passengers and that paparazzi “were following us the whole time,” though he said wouldn’t call it a chase.

I don't care at all about these people and I'm thinking it's somewhere in between - I think they were bothered by paparazzi and did what they could to avoid them. Putting out their own PR release about it though? Jeez - just live your life, say nothing, move on. What was the purpose of it beyond garnering more attention? And the hyperbole - holy cow. I'm losing any sympathy I had for them.

I saw this quote from the cab driver interviewed by the WaPo: “I don’t think I would call it a chase,” Singh said of his period driving the couple. “I never felt like I was in danger. It wasn’t like a car chase in a movie. They were quiet and seemed scared but it’s New York — it’s safe.”

Tough week for them. A 'stalker" was arrested near their home cbs newsI am beginning to wonder if these coincidences have something to do with Harry's legal action in the UK regarding his security.

If it's really that embarrassing, don't stay there - or don't go to NY. This is just utterly manufactured and yes the OP really needs to change their title as I thought there was an actual crash. The rumors are that the children were in New York, and there are no recent pictures of the children. So that’s why the paparazzi were trying to find out where they were staying…so they could get pictures of the children. And that’s why Harry and Meghan spent two hours trying to shake them… to keep the kids privacy. The pictures that they had of the couple were being sold to British outlets…not American outlets really. The British outlets are the ones that paid top bucks for these pictures. It looks like the pictures have been removed though. But whatever… nothing they can do will be good enough for some people. And just a reminder, they never said they wanted privacy. That’s what the media said, not them.
