nylene - sending all my healing powers you way, and praying for additional stronger healing vibes as well grammadee - a full day of fresh air (and all the planning that goes into it) is both restorative and tiring! I'm glad you have maybe some time to breathe today. joyfulnana - I'm sure your low thyroid is adding to your stress and discomfort! I hope the doc can fix that up for you. Oh man, I LOVE the deep fried biscuit dough...haven't done that in years because, well, fattening! I would make my own dough, deep fry, then roll in melted butter and sugar Do you have any recommendations for audiobooks?? I'm so new, and don't have a clue where I'm going next. We are just finishing packing to leave for camping. Certainly a hectic evening and morning. Having a bite to eat then we'll jump in the car. Would love fair-weather thoughts please!!!

checking in - yesterday was go-go-go all day and then I didn't sleep well last night at all. Yawn. We went to a library book sale in the big city yesterday since we were already headed to the city. Got a paper bag of books each (ok...so one of us might have overflowed into the other bags a little, lol). Then grabbed lunch and swung by Publix so DD16 could get a sub to take with her for dinner. The next step was supposed to be the train station but the train was running a couple of hours behind so we hit some thrift stores first and still ended up spending way too long on those uncomfortable metal seats at the train station. But DD16 caught her train and sent a happy selfie! One final stop at IKEA and we headed home. Made for a very long day! DD16 got to VA about 645 this morning (2 hrs late) and DD22 and DS31 picked her up and sent photos. I didn't get to see that train station in daylight when I went last year so it was nice to get pics. I need to finish scrapping MY trip before she comes home with her trip photos. joyfulnana -glad you have a new dr and hope getting your thyroid in check makes a big difference. I'm so glad that your DS is in a program that sets him up for success. grammadee - I hope you have plans to relax today - you've been on the go! I don't make waffles often but when we do - it's always for dinner. I am NOT a morning person.

Here are some fair weather thoughts, and thoughts for tons of fun kitbop! As far as the audiobooks, I usually choose books that I would like to read, but I don't make time for reading "books" which I should, I love reading. But my favorites lately have been anything by Liane Moriarty. She wrote Big Little Lies, and Nine Perfect Strangers which have both been made into films and TV. They are mysteries, but not slasher/serial killer type. Although I love that genre too lol. Hers are more along the lines of drama in relationships and secrets, etc. If there is a genre you enjoy, I would recommend starting there. I only buy audiobooks if I think I'll listen more than once, and I rarely reread fiction these days. I love getting them from the library because I don't have to physically return them lol.

I don't make waffles often but when we do - it's always for dinner. I am NOT a morning person. I love waffles or pancakes for dinner. So so good! I am NOT a morning person, or a night owl. I'm a midday person, which gets ruined by work lol.

Sending good weather vibes kitbop's way. Linda, I hope you got enough sleep last night. I hate those groggy mornings when I don't sleep well. Here's to a less stressful week, joyfulnana. We usually have waffles for brunch here, but only on special occasions--Christmas, and maybe 3 or 4 times a year when we have the kids home for the weekend. With a larger group, it works out well b/c each person picks up their waffle when it is ready, so we aren't trying to coordinate a time for everyone to sit down at once. We have them with syrup & bacon or raspberries and whipped cream. This past week we had them THREE TIMES b/c the nine year old really wanted to make them with me. No bacon. Just the waffles and a whole tub of Cool Whip for the week LOL. Yesterday was kind of a reset day so little bits of lots of things caught up on in the house, and some raspberries picked. Need to deal with those this morning. Dd is working from here today as her wifi will not be set up until Thursday. So dgs and the dogs are here as well. Raining again this morning. Hoping we get enough to help the garden. After the short shower yesterday morning, it cleared off for a clear day--wonderful for humans, but the plants are thirsty. I was telling dh we would have to water this evening if we got no rain. So a question a la gramma. Best family brunch: (1)waffles or pancakes? (2)bacon & eggs? (3)other?

Thank you grammadee - yes- a much better sleep night last night. A bit of a reset day here also - various housework stuff to do, some mending, some organising -and then an online (FB) crop this evening. So a question a la gramma. Best family brunch: (1)waffles or pancakes? (2)bacon & eggs? (3)other? if I'm cooking? somesort of make ahead breakfast casserole or bagels/cream cheese and fruit if someone else is cooking (or we're eating out) - eggs, bacon, sausage (links please not patties), and hash browns. I love pancakes and waffles but they're too high carb for me to really enjoy so they are a rare treat here

Happy Monday! Waving hi to you gals and hope you had a nice weekend. We enjoyed our favorite beach city mall on Saturday and chilled out yesterday. We haven't been able to go the tennis courts in weeks. So Ron suggested we pop over there just to see if there were any courts available and we were in luck! We hit a few rounds of balls and came home feeling happy. Sending continued prays out to you all especially nylene! I hope each day gets a little better. We miss you!!! joyfulnana- I think we must be kindred spirits! LOL! I dislike the heat, too! It zaps me and I totally get how you feel. I am trying to be in the present but I also can't wait until Fall comes. So I am cheering us on to beat the heat with happy thoughts! LOL! grammadee- SO glad you enjoyed your family and I know it will be nice to have your dd and family close by. I love pancakes! I am not a big fan of eggs but I do like them with sausage and pancakes. linda-The book fair sounds fun. I don't read books oftern but I do like reading magazines and ordered 2 recently. I can't wait to get them. kitbop- Have fun on your trip! justjac- How are you doing Jac? Will it be time to start preparing your classroom for school?

Hello my Pokey friends. I am starting to feel much better. I am seeing my PCP on Friday abt my back, neck and shoulder. The finger seems to be healing and the big splint is just in the way of using my two unsplinted fingers. I am getting used to eating and preparing food right-handed, but writing is pretty ugly. My brain seems to be back to just normal forgetfulness. At least I feel much clearer. I have missed checking in every day. scrappyrabbit, are you still on bedrest, and how are you doing? joyfulnana, so glad to hear that DS is doing well. I hope this program is just what he needs. I give him great credit for continuing to work on it. It's so much easier to give up. Hang in there! grammadee, your adventures with all the grands make me really miss having little ones around. I'm exhausted when they leave but miss them terribly. kellyr21, I hope you have another fun weekend like last week. How's the art going? kitbop, I see lots of fun layouts by you. I will leave notes when I am not typing with one hand. gramma, I think of you everyday. How are the moving plans going? Linda, your card was so sweet. I hope you have fun with your cricut! justjac, what are you doing for fun during your summer vacation? I actually put glue to paper last night. I have photos to put up on the church bulletin board and had to print and attach captions. i think I will try a simple SB page later today. Our AC went out Sunday and Monday was a State holiday so DS's HVAC guy was out of town. He fixed it yesterday and I have a COOL room for scrapping. I hope you are all able to stay cool.

nylene So good to "hear" from you and that you are improving. It seems that my way of dealing with the loss of my dear husband has been to bury my head in the sand and wait for all to go away! Guess what? It doesn't so I am learning to just deal. My new house is mostly done and I've been there since the evening of Ken's celebration of live. My daughter insisted that I not go back to the old place. I've been back at my regular work schedule for the last 2 weeks and I think that is helping me - something else to think about and all that. We are still moving things I want to keep from the old house to the new one and making arrangements for the rest to be disposed of in some manner. I have a light, bright new craft room that looks out into the olive orchard and actually sat in there this morning and glued some paper on paper. Scrapbooks are moved and if anyone wonders they fit in the Ikea Kallax unit perfectly. I hope to have the craft room totally moved by the end of this week although there is a LOT of stuff in there!! Almost back to fighting form ladies. Thank you for your support and kind words. Oh - and Jam or Jelly Butter or Margarine Summer or Fall

nylene - glad you're on the mend and got to do something crafty! we've missed you but resting was important. gramma - glad to see you as well. Your craft room sounds lovely! (((Hugs))) Jam or Jelly - Jam please Butter or Margarine -butter always Summer or Fall - Fall...and it can't come soon enough kellyr21 - I love to read and have read 134 books this year so far (of course I've bought 78 new ones so...not making much of a dent in the TBR pile especially since I think only 42 I read were actual books vs ebooks). Glad you got tennis time

So good to hear from you, nylene and gramma. And glad that you each had a chance to glue paper together today. Linda and kitbop and kellyr21, I spend lots of time reading, and although I have two big bookcases filled with books, almost everything I have read in the past year has been on my iPad. I prefer to read it myself rather than listen to the audio. Have tried the audio books when driving, but it seems to double my fatigue. Jam or jelly? Jam, if it doesn't have too many seeds. Butter or margarine? Butter all the way. Summer or Fall? A tough choice as I love them both. And they both keep me busy harvesting and preserving veggies from the garden. I will choose summer because in the fall I can't get the thought of impending winter out of my head.

Good morning Pokeys. I have the morning to myself after a few days of grandparenting dd's son while she worked. Wanted to share a couple of the cards he made while he was here. This first I helped him with. He loves interactive cards. This one is a tri panel card. I put them together in one photo here in the order his cousin will see them: Knock knock by Gramma Dee, on Flickr The second one with the tag in the pocket he created while I was doing something else. pocket card by Gramma Dee, on Flickr The cards I constructed are in the Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer thread. Still adjusting to using my brain in the conventional way without being interrupted every time he comes up with a new idea. Dd says that last night she sent him to read, then remembered to ask him where something was he had been supposed to put away. His response was "How can I read when you interrupt me every three words?" She called me to see if that was a direct quote, and I had to admit it was pretty close.

Good to hear from nylene and grammaI am off bedrest! I am free to resume my previous activities. I am so relieved! It’s so hot here though, I’m not sure if I even want to go on walks anymore. They said I can go in the pool so that’s my plan. grammadee you have been working on some nice cards!

I'm so glad you are starting to feel more like yourself nylene! The brain is the most important piece to heal, although I'm also sending prayers for your finger and soft tissues. Glad they got your AC fixed fairly quickly. And gramma - soooo glad your family is surrounding you and helping with your transition period. I understand about the distraction/focus of work helping during times like this, but I also worry about stress for you at work! scrappyrabbit - yay that your can hop around again even if it's just inside! Maybe we can do an online crop one of these weekends??? joyfulnana - picking books is where I struggle most! Same as picking new movies on Netflix. We had a good camping trip overall, just got home and unpacked. Last night was super rainy so stuff is wet and we're going to have to spread most stuff out again to dry. Alas...leaving the gas station this morning...I put my wallet on the hood of the car as we struggled with filling the tires with air... and it flew off as we merged onto the highway. We did loop back and I walked the edge of the highway (scary that) but I think it flew into the bush. So I have been at the bank and drivers license/health card places getting cards cancelled and replaced I have never lost a wallet before! And this was a new one, a special one, a present for Christmas, so it makes me sad on top of the inconvenience! Jam Butter (ugh to margarine) and Summer - because exactly like grammadee said, fall is too close to winter. grammadee - you sure are keeping busy this summer! It must be flying by for you!

grammadee - what great cards! scrappyrabbit - so glad you're off bedrest and all is well. I loved swimming during my first summer pregnancy - and missed having access to a pool during my other summer pregnancy (I had 2 October babies) kitbop -I'm glad camping went well. I'm so sorry about the wallet -I hate when that sort of thing happens. (((Hugs))) I've been back at my scrap table last night and today. Working my way through some projects I had set aside. I'm really happy with this last one. I found my mum's handwritten gingerbread house instructions a while back and set it aside to do a layout with a picture of one of her gingerbread houses. Ended up reprinting three photos and doing a three page layout

What a wonderful find, and sweet pages to showcase it, Linda! Glad you are taking some time to play, again. So glad you are up and around again, scrappyrabbit. Don't overdo it, though. That little PEAnut has to stay in place until ready to enter this big world! Ugh kitbop! Bad enough to lose a special gift, but I HATE all the red tape to get back all your ID. I was SO glad that dgs and I were able to find all of dh's cards scattered along the ditch when his phone with wallet case fell off the back of a trailer. Walking and rewalking those ditches was well worth not having to make all those phone calls and changes on line. Is it still raining out there? Dd & dgs flew to Washington DC on Friday evening to spend a week with her dh who is posted there. Their connecting flight was held up for almost 4 hours at Pearson because of bad weather. Yesterday they were touring Washington in 36C weather, but dgs posted a video of a driving rain/hail storm in the evening. I had to send them a screenshot of our weather at a perfect 23C and sunny. Other than dd's dogs and cat, we have the farm to ourselves this week. Dh has been helping with haying and I have been muddling along, picking and preserving peas and raspberries. We have had a choice of fresh veggies every day, so I am happy.

Hi, Pokeys! I am still one-handed typing, but look forward to having the splint removed on Wed. Everything seems to be healing except my back. My dr. suggested a brace that will be here tomorrow. I spent the weekend scrapping. I'm getting pretty adept at being a righty, but will enjoy having 2 hands again. I will scan my Cousin Camp pages and post after Wed. scrappyrabbit , so glad you are up and about again! Take care. gramma , so nice to hear from you. I think "head in the sand" becomes one step of grieving. How was the Celebration of Life. I hope you had your family surrounding and uplifting you. I promise to post more when I can actually type. I will close this thread later tonight.

nylene - glad that you're healing - hopefully your back will feel better soon also and the brace helps. I've been at my scrap table also - working on my Williamsburg trip album - hoping to get it done before DD16 returns on Saturday with HER Williamsburg trip pictures. The highlights I'm getting from their phones shows that the three of them are having a ton of fun together!
