This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members.

Welcome to July! We are half way through this year already. The months slip by so quickly.
I hope you are all ready for a nice summer with family and friends. Do you have plans for a special Canada Day or 4th of July. I think we will still be resting up from all the family events in the past week or so. I will miss having grands drop in to visit or play games.
Come join in with the Pokeys for a happy July!

Happy July pokey's! Whew, I'm really glad June is over I think. It felt like an awful lot. We'll see how July goes. I still get overstimulated pretty easily right now, but feeling better and like I have a little more "space" at the margins. And I miss scrapping! I'm taking that as a good sign lol. I have gotten quite a lot of knitting done since it doesn't require any thinking. Almost finished with my blanket. Then on to one for one of the boys. I didn't catch up on the June thread, except for the last page - Linda how exciting! I can't wait to see that trip when you scrap it! I noticed SG has a couple of new 8.5x11 sketch bundles and thought of you nylene I'm glad cousin camp went well. My mom always felt the same way about sharing with the other side of the family when we would come back to visit. I say let the laundry go and scrap if you want to! grammadee DGS final day at school sounds so sweet and it's wonderful that he's growing in confidence. Sounds like you will even more hands on and I'm so glad for you that they are so much closer. knutschen your trip looks amazing and what wonderful photos to scrap! Was this a solo trip? kitbop I feel ya on how messed up the week will feel. Memorial Day messed me up for a good couple weeks! But Rudy's parents also changed their rotation up on weeknights and I didn't realize how much "knowing" it was a Rudy night across the street helped me keep track of what day it was lol. Now I have to think about it lol. They have kept the same schedule for nearly 7 years so it's taking me time to get used to lol. gramma keeping you in my thoughts (((hugs)))) Today I'll be picking up DS2 to get some groceries and hang out for a short time. He is doing much much better as well. He's been in therapy now and is actually going to continue outpatient, doing all the things he needs to do. While I hate that he relapsed, he learned from it, and is putting more tools into his toolbox to keep it from happening again. I have hope for him. He seems to be more accepting of how much oversight and connection with a support network he really needs, and he's also accepting of the amount of time it will take to get himself fully on his feet. OH and DS1 is still seeing his new coffee pal, and that is going well. I wondered how Rudy would feel about Dad dating, but he wants to meet her, and everytime he sees Dad texting asks "is that her? what's she saying???" LOL. Waving hi to everyone and sending you all ((hugs))) and fun for July!

Happy Canada Day Pokeys! Thanks for starting the thread nylene . Tell us more about how cousin camp went! *eta - went back to the June thread and caught up - sounds like a blast but I can understand why you are tired. We were expecting to be away this weekend, but instead are home and listless. I'm struggling with mood and sleep but I have this entire week off without plans, so will try to put my house back on it's feet (it's really embarrassingly dirty!) and regroup myself. Lemonade, right?!? It's close to 100 degrees this afternoon so our eagerness to head out to the Canada Day events is low. DH and I just walked the puppy to the store and we were very glad it was only a 30 minute walk. The puppy is stretched out on the floor, recovering (which was the intended effect TBH, she's a whirling ball of energy in the morning!) I'm hoping people will go to fireworks with me tonight - there are lots of venues. And we're heading to the aquarium in Toronto tomorrow as a family - something indoors to do on a predicted rainy day. gramma - I think about you all the time and hope you are finding some periods of comfort and happiness. I can't imagine. joyfulnana - I think about you too, and really wish you lived close, I'd love to just hang out and do nothing. grammadee - if you are home and rested this week and consider a mid-week crop, I'll be around!

Thanks for starting us off for July nylene. Glad that cousin camp went well but I bet you're worn out. joyfulnana - (((Hugs))) glad you're feeling a bit better. I've picked up those SG sketches - always nice to have the smaller size already. kitbop - (((Hugs))) I hope the week off is rejuvenating. Stay cool! I too would love for us all to be able to hang out together. gramma - you remain in my prayers Discovered at midnight that our meat freezer had been left open...long enough that hardly anything was still cool even. I did save a turkey, a ham, and a couple of other small things that were at the back and thawed but cold. So I'll be cooking all that up today after I order a freezer alarm. So much waste, so much $$. Other than that, I'm back to 1999 in my sorting and labelling project with mum's photos and hoping to do some Christmas scrapping - I've pulled out the big kids pics from last December

I'm glad to hear from you joyfulnana and to learn that DS is doing better. It is such a steep climb out of addition and there are so many pitfalls. I know you will keep loving and supporting him and that's what he needs. FUN that other DS is still seeing the friend. I'm glad Rudy is interested and not resentful. How is he enjoying his baby brother by now? Glad you are doing better too, and I'm eager to see that blanket. You are really moving on it. kitbop , I think it sounds wonderful that you don't have to work this week and can relax and enjoy family. A trip to the Aquarium sounds great. Your little Poppy sounds so sweet. I'm glad that you are all getting along well together. Happy Canada Day to our northern Pokeys! Hope you have a great day. Linda , how is the heat wave in your area? I hope you are keeping cool. grammadee , I agree with kitbop and would love a weekday Online Crop if you are up for setting it up next week. I have not touched any scrap supplies for almost 2 weeks and I am missing it. I need to print our CC photos. Hope you have a great Canada Day. gramma , I am missing you! I hope that things are getting easier and that you are feeling comfort as you work through all the things you have to do. Anj and Jon send their love and condolences. The kids overheard us talking and Drew said, "Hey, she brought us some really good cookies!" They were also sad for you. Hang in there and be kind to yourself. You have my # if you need to chat.(((Hugs))) We are going to see the new Indiana Jones movie this afternoon. We haven't seen a movie for ages so I hope it's good.

Thanks nylene - I have the turkey in a roaster oven and chicken in a crockpot so at least the house isn't heating too much. I felt awful tossing all that meat though...but it had to be done.

How does Wednesday July 5th mid day sound for a crop? kitbop if you are off this week, maybe you could join us. joyfulnana, can you play hookey? I have had a really busy couple of weeks and would love to dedicate some time to playing with paper. Went to the trouble to set a dozen challenges for this week; should prob try to take some of them on LOL. Oh no, Linda. So much waste, so much mess, so much work... The weather here was pretty well perfect for Canada Day. They had some activities, including the fire works, Friday evening. The temps today for the outdoor fun were mid 20's C (so mid 70's F). I had dgs for the pancake breakfast, parade, pizza buffet, then lots of kids' games. At the end of the afternoon just before the rain started, there was an indigenous dance performance. We hung out at their house for a couple of hours then headed over to the Seniors' Centre to watch my brother and his wife perform country & western music. I got a ton of photos, but prob won't be printing them til I am in justjac's city for the fair and book club in about a week & a half. Have lots of other pic's to scrap in the mean time.

Linda More than anything, waste makes me feel so OCD and "itchy" inside. I can't explain that feeling. A mess is frustrating but you clean it. A broken treasure is heartbreaking but happens. But waste gives me shudders I struggle to get past! Guess that's what happens when you grow up watching every penny! grammadee - I'm keen! Wednesday works fine! Your Canada Day sounds absolutely perfect to me!

grammadee - I'll make a note of a crop on the 5th - I am trying to fit some scrapbooking in this month. I did one layout yesterday and have the starts of a second on the desk. turkey leftovers are all packaged up and in the freezer - I'll make curry with at least some of them. Pulled chicken is also in the freezer. Today I'm making ham for dinner and will freeze leftovers. Also making blueberry crisp from the thawed blueberries. The upside is my freezer is nice and clean and my menu for the week is done. Hopefully the freezer alarm arrive soon. Sounds like a nice Canada Day celebration grammadee. Apparently our area did their Independence day celebration yesterday - I didn't realise until I heard the fireworks last night.

But waste gives me shudders I struggle to get past! Guess that's what happens when you grow up watching every penny! I 100% get that. DS31 and I were talking yesterday and he reminded me how fortunate I am that losing all that food wasn't a catastrophe the way it would have been when he was growing up - and he's quite right. It's a waste and a mess and a pain but there was a time when if we had lost the contents of the freezer, we wouldn't have had vegetables or meat for quite a while afterwards because we simply couldn't have replaced that food right away or easily and I only shopped monthly back then so once the grocery budget was gone, it was gone and there wasn't anywhere to scrimp to supplement it.

I remember a tent trailer road trip we took years ago at the end of June. I had just got the kids to bed and suddenly there was noise and flashes all over the camp ground. We had just crossed the border that day and I had no idea it was July 4th!

Happy belated Canada Day. Thursday was my last day of the year and an open house to get students for next year, so I was exhausted. Dean and I drove to my mom’s Saturday and are visiting with the whole family. I can’t join you Wednesday morning because I have already committed to play board games with some other teachers who are on holidays.
Sending hugs.

Happy July and happy Sunday! Thanks Nylene for getting our new month going. I hope Canada Day was relaxing for you gals. Not much happing here for the 4th of July. They did have a festival yesterday but it was too hot and too long of a walk to get into the high school. So we went to JCP and spent time in the a/c. LOL! Then we parked near the h.s. and ate our In N Out burgers and listened to some of the music. Today is another event with music, food and celebration. I hope it is easier to enjoy. It should be since it is up the street in a shaded area. Ron is on vacation until Wednesday so we should find some fun things to do. Also, the city's park concerts started last Wednesday. They had a Latin band and they were pretty good. So now until the middle of August were will be enjoying this event. I was so glad to see they added one or two more dates. nylene- I hope you have recovered from your fun "camp." I am so glad you were able to host and you had lots of folks show up. So sweet! What memories you all are creating!!! Yeah, all these classes and I taking should make me an expert at some point, right? How was the movie? joyfulnana- Nylene mentioned you knit and I have recently jumped into it. I took some M's classes and got my supplies. I am working on my first stitches and how to transfer them from one needle to the other. Knit stitch, right? linda- Oh no!!! I am glad you were able to cook up some of the food and not loss it all. We could of had a Pokey Pea buffet with you with all that turkey and chicken. I hope you were able to replace the food. kitbop- Boy it is hot up there! I had no idea it gets that hot in Canada. I think taking it easy and enjoying your puppy is a great plan. grammadee- Oh that is cool your family will be living closer to you. Are you close to justjac, too? justjac- Enjoy your time off. When does school start up again?

Maybe you had some enthusiastic Canadians in your area LOL More likely someone decided that Saturday was a better day for a celebration than Tuesday. All the surrounding areas have theirs scheduled for tomorrow. And my neighbour's neighbour (house beside us faces a different road and their across the road neighbour) was doing fireworks last night. I hope you were able to replace the food I'll replace as meat goes on sale or we need it. And I'm grateful that we're in a position to do so. Also, the city's park concerts started last Wednesday how fun! enjoy! Housework and more photos to organise are on today's to-do list. DH has to work - he'll be off tomorrow though. We're under a heat advisory again today so staying inside. justjac - we'll miss you Wednesday but have fun with the games!

Boy do I wish I could! They would have my head lol. joyfulnana- Nylene mentioned you knit and I have recently jumped into it. I took some M's classes and got my supplies. I am working on my first stitches and how to transfer them from one needle to the other. Knit stitch, right? That's awesome! Yes, that first row of transferring stitches is the knit stitch. And the blankets I'm making, that's the only stitch used. I don't even have to think about a pattern to follow lol. Knitting is so relaxing for me. justjac got me back into it when she started learning. We are such enablers around here Oh Linda, that's awful! I'm so sorry, about the $$$ and the waste. It's been hot here, and I don't know that there was any official announcement, but man this area was lit up with fireworks Saturday night! Hardly any last night, and it feels more like today is the actual holiday than tomorrow. Happy Belated CAnada Day! And early July 4th! I finally got around to watching Hamilton last weekend and I've watched it again since. I loved it! The soundtrack is on repeat and also stuck in my head lol. And fitting that it's the fourth and am new to seeing it lol. nylene, Rudy is doing pretty well with his brother, he sings to him and talks to him in funny voices to make him laugh lol. Rudy also mentioned that one day, brother will be able to open doors and get in his bedroom. He seemed quite concerned about that lol. grammadee your Canada Day sounds wonderful! kellyr21 your live music all summer does too! It's just too hot here (for me lol) to sit outside

Rudy also mentioned that one day, brother will be able to open doors and get in his bedroom. He seemed quite concerned about that lol. When my youngest was born, she shared a room with her big sister (6.5) for the next 6 years or so. Big sister got a pantry cabinet with a child lock (she was 7 going on 8 then) for her too small for little sister stuff AND her 'treasures' that she didn't want to risk little sister getting into. It really helped her to have that space that was just hers.

HAPPY 4th of JULY!
Now that our Canada Day festivities are ended, nothing exciting going on here. The sun is shining and the temps are going up again after a couple of cool days of rain. Baked muffins yesterday and cooked a beef roast b/c the house was so cool.
Can't get out onto the garden to weed until probably Thursday. But no playing with paper today; just finding some stuff I need for tomorrow's crop. I am heading to town soon for 10% Tuesday.

I had a bad fall Sunday night and spent the night in the ER. I am so sore all over and am waiting to hear back from the hand surgeon. I broke a finger and a toe and sprained my shoulder. I fell backward, headfirst down 7 stairs. I landed first on my head and my body flipped over my head and kinked my neck. I ended up on my stomach at the bottom with my head on the bottom step. DH had gone to bed and was sound asleep without his hearing aids. I called and screamed and banged on the wall to wake him. I kept praying that he would awaken and after about 20 minutes he did. He called Em and she transported us to ER. I can't believe I didn't break a hip, or my neck. I feel like my brain is really scrambled and my balance is non-existent. They did CT scans and X-rays head to toe on the left side. I am very fortunate that it was not worse.
No playing with paper for me for a while. The break is on the left and I'm a leftie. I may be able to get on long enough to say hello on the Crop tomorrow.

nylene sweetheart - I'm SO relieved you are here to tell us about that! It sounds dreadful and painful and I'm amazed you aren't more broken! You are probably terribly concussed and only quiet and time will help with that. I'm so so glad that you roused help, and hope you heal up quickly. My gosh, it feels like us pokeys are sitting in the middle of a briar patch and we all keep getting thorny jabs from one side and the other

Oh nylene sending big gentle hugs. I’m so glad you didn’t break more. I plan to pop into part of the crop after all. Tuesday morning my sister, who we spent all weekend with, tested positive for COVID, so I’m staying home for a few days to make sure I didn’t catch it. Fortunately, I’m on holidays but didn’t have any plans this week other than a board game date that I cancelled. I’m looking forward to puttering at home for a bit.

Wow I was VERY pokey in June... only completing 2 layouts. I was hoping July would be a little better and less busy for me! Well, the joke is on me, because this morning, the doctor put me on partial bedrest. So no standing for longer than 15 minutes at a time, and I typically scrap standing up! I am sure I can figure out a couch-scrapping situation, but still. nylene oh my goodness, that sounds like a really scary fall!! I hope you aren't in too much pain and that your recovery is fast. linda sorry about the deep freezer one day I would love to come and try all your delicious cooking. I'm sure your family was grateful that you made the most with some of the meat that was salvaged. justjac hoping you didn't catch COVID! A few days at home relaxing isn't so bad though.

scrappyrabbit, that sounds serious. Hope you can relax into it and not feel too bored or stressed. How are you doing, nylene? Hope you have had some relief from the pain. Have they decided how they will stabilize the fingers and toes? How are you feeling, justjac? Hoping it misses you this time around. What does everyone have planned for this upcoming weekend? I have more weeding to do tomorrow (did a few hours today) plus a drive into town to pick up the mail and do some errands. Sometime over the weekend I need to go back with dd to their "old" house to pick up and drive back one of their vehicles. Glad I got a few pages done this week, cuz I don't see much paper crafting in my future for at least a few days.

grammadee I guess we are just being somewhat cautious and taking a wait and see approach. I am hoping I can go back to normal in 2 weeks. Thankfully I can work from home so I don’t have to worry about that. No weekend plans for me but I hope to scrap a few pages. I think I figured out a good sitting scrap set up but I haven’t tested it out yet. I hope all the pokeys have a great weekend!

scrappyrabbit - take it easy and follow dr's orders - I hope everything is otherwise going smoothly. nylene - hoping you're feeling a bit better. ((((Hugs)))) gramma - keeping you in my prayers as well grammadee - not sure yet on weekend plans but probably more photo organising. There's nothing on the calendar but sometimes DH decides to go do something spur of the moment. Dropped DD16 off yesterday morning bright and early - we left the house before 6am for a 7am dropoff and then the troop drove 3 hours to the airport and flew to Minneapolis. Today they visit a wolf conservation centre and then tomorrow they get in the canoes for their boundary water adventure and I won't hear from her again until Friday (they'll fly home next Saturday)
