No. There was a very short period of time when my husband started inexplicably leaving a few baking sheets in there, and after a few times when I found myself with a piping hot empty baking sheet to deal with when I went to put whatever I was making into the oven, I asked him to please stop that habit before it became too set in stone. (The odd thing was that we had a special cabinet just for baking sheets right next to the oven. It had one of those inserts that creates a bunch of narrow slots for the sheets. So there was absolutely no reason at all to leave them in the oven.)

My Dad was a firefighter and taught us the oven was for cooking only. And nothing other than maybe empty pots were to be put on the stove top. He saw too many house fires caused by improper use of the stove/oven. Yes, I decided to get some brightly colored burner covers for my electric stove once I was sure (cough, cough) that my kids were old enough that it wouldn't be an issue. And then one day my 20 year put on a burner beneath one of them and didn't notice until the paint was bubbling up on it. Luckily there were no flames yet & they were smart enough to use tongs to move it directly to the sink, doused it, and then set it outside in a bucket of water. And my dad, who was also a firefighter, raised a serious eyebrow when he heard what had happened. We have a standing joke that none of us kids are ever allowed to call the fire dept. due to an "embarrassing" fire. So it's lucky we were able to deal with that cover on our own, else Dad may not have ever spoken to us again. Also, note that plastic spatulas & spoons can ignite pretty quickly, because we had that happen once, too. We had a spoon rest, but it was too large for it, slipped off, and wound up touching the burner. Next thing it was up & flames.

No.
There are too many family members who would not check before preheating the oven for their use, and it would not be a good thing.
I am probably one of those family members.

Yes, I keep my two skillets in the oven. I don’t know why, probably because that’s what my mother did.

Now and then, I will put the cast iron skillet in the oven, but it isn't a tragedy if it gets preheated.

My oven is in use every day, at least once a day or more.
But I have been known to shove a dirty skillet in there, if I haven't gotten all my dishes done and someone stops by! LOL
I do put some heavy pans in there to fully dry after washing - if the oven is still warm. I set them in there to fully dry and put away when cool or the next time I peek in there.

No. It’s an oven, not a cabinet.

Not me, but my mom had a double oven and stored their cereals and crackers in one. One Thanksgiving my aunt decided to use the bottom oven to heat something up and that was the end. Started a small fire which thankfully didn't require the fire department, but did kill both ovens. My mom's husband was/is so cheap that it wasn't until this past year (almost 5 years later) that they FINALLY have a working kitchen again (he's kind of an odd bird, wasn't willing to just fix the kitchen and instead waited to do an entire house remodel that supposedly cost $250,000+).

All the sheet pans and square/rectangle pans fit in it. I store my round pans in a different cabinet though because I don’t like how they roll around if they’re on their sides!

Kinda.
When I wash my cookie sheets, I pop them into the oven and turn it on to make sure they dry completely and don't rust. In a perfect world, the next morning I take them out and put them away.
Sometimes, I put them away as I'm preheating the oven. Sometimes, I set them on the counter while using the oven and pop them back in because the cookie sheet storage area tends to slide around and be a pain in the neck. I probably should fix that. LOL

I just realized why I have never worried about turning the oven on with pans inside. Mine is an antique gas stove that has pilot lights. Decades ago my husband installed a gas cock on the gas line that we turn off when we finish using the stove/oven. I never liked the idea of pilot lights being always on. (Stoves now have electronic ignition)
In order to use my oven I turn the gas cock, turn the oven on, open the oven door and light the pilot light then turn up the temp. I see the pans when I fire it up. When we turn off the stove we turn it off at the gas cock. If I had a newer stove I might have made that mistake but I will never get rid of my stove, I love it.

Yes - my large roasting pan because I don't have a warming drawer or other place where it can be usefully stored.

No, but I like the idea of storing our cast iron in there instead of on the stove. If it gets preheated, no worries.
