I had a friend years ago who kept dirty dishes in hers. I think she didn’t have a dishwasher. It kept the kitchen looking tidier.
We keep our iron skillets in there for some reason. Sometimes, when we use the oven, they get preheated before we notice and remove them.

I just started putting my iron skillets in there.. don't know why I even started this.. but about six months ago, I thought it was a good idea. I love my iron skillets but I hate storing them.

No I don’t.
One time a friend of mine had made a sheet cake and stored it in a large rectangular Tupperware container. She was getting ready for a gathering and temporarily put it in the oven to make space on her countertop. Someone needed to heat something in the oven and the results were not good!

Many years ago in tiny apartments I would store my cast iron and cookie sheets in there. Since we remodeled about 10 years ago though I haven't needed to do that. I did have to break DH of the habit of storing my Silpat sheets in there after washing them.

No.
When I bake cookies I store them in there waiting for the icing to dry, but I put neon post-it notes all over both ovens to remind me so I don't turn the oven on!

Nope, but I keep my cookie sheets in the 'proofing drawer' underneath the oven.
Never knew it was for that until I started watching the Great British Baking Show. I just thought it was for storage!

In the oven itself, no. My iron skillets are stored in the oven drawer.
My mom stored her large roasting pan and cookie sheets in the oven. When her dishwasher broke she chose not to repair it and turned it into storage for her Tupperware.

No, never ... Ex is a realtor and I did a realtor's open house with him in a million dollar plus home and the owner never used her large Viking range/oven ... she only stored things in it ... it was jammed! She had a separate kitchen in the garage where she did her cooking

I do the same thing. There are times when I cook using multiple pots which don't all fit in the dishwasher at the same time. I also keep my cookie sheets in the oven.

A lot of the time yes. I have a very small kitchen with very little cupboard space and until lately have kept big roasting pans and cookie sheets in there. I quite often would go to preheat and forget to take them out.
I will admit to shoving dirty dishes in there when someone is coming over and I haven’t finished them (I don’t have a dishwasher). I also sometimes will put breads or something not in an airtight container in there. I have melted my share of plastic covers, utensils and such through the years.
It is a pain to take the pans in and out so I have been trying to find other solutions so that I don’t have to use it for storage…but for now it does get used and things do get accidentally destroy/melted/heated up.

When I was a kid, leftover desserts, like cake or brownies, were stored in the oven. More than once someone would preheat the oven and smell baked goods before remembering food was in there.
We don't store anything in our oven.
As a side note, when we bought our first house, it had a large kitchen. At the first viewing, I was opening drawers and cupboards. Except for a cupboard of dinnerware and a cupboard of food, the entire kitchen storage was full of fabric and craft supplies. This included the oven. Turns out the owners did not cook. Since they ate out for most meals, the storage (we are talking an insane number of drawers and cabinets) was put to better use.

Mil used to store all of her baking sheets, measuring spoons, etc. in her oven. I would worry that I'd turn the oven on and burn everything up.

No, nothing in the oven. We do store cookie sheets in the drawer under the oven.

We have a double oven, so I keep my pizza stone in the lower oven as it's rarely used.

I love my iron skillets but I hate storing them.I have the same struggle with my skillets. I'm afraid I'd always forget they're in there and I'd preheat the oven, which wouldn't be an issue but then I'd be taking hot skillets out all the time.

Nope. Pizza stone lives in the oven.
Cast iron skillets are on the range top. We use them pretty much exclusively unless making pasta or rice.
The warming drawer stores cake pans and jelly roll type pans
We have a slim upright cabinet for cookie sheets and cutting Boards.
Frying pans are in a long drawer.
Pots with kids are in lower cabinets facing the stove/ovens on pull outs.
If we stored stuff in the oven it would be very bad since we use it all the time. Gas top/electric ovens

I keep a large cookie sheet on the bottom rack of my oven. It is not for baking just as a drip catching thing. I also keep my wok and two lids in there because they would take up too much room in my cabinets. I have a huge broiler that I don't use too often and I keep a large metal griddle and a heavy Le Creuset skillet in it. Then there is a drawer where I store my two cast iron skillets and a flat cast iron griddle.
My stove is a huge 1949 Roper. I love that stove more than anything else that I own and just can't bring myself to get rid of it. It cooks like a dream and has six burners. It was in this house when we bought it and I have rebuilt it twice.

I will occasionally shove an empty pan/baking sheet (especially if they are really hot) in there if I have run out of room, but I am notoriously bad about forgetting them. So I only do it with things that can handle a preheat.
