She did only publish through Y. Her family said Sue Grafton would not have wanted a ghostwriter to write Z so the series is ended with Y. I thought I remembered that correctly because I read a headline that said “The alphabet ends at Y” and knew right away that Sue Grafton must have passed. Oh damn! I could have sworn she made it thru Z!!!

I love the Chet and Bernie series by Spencer Quinn (pen name of Peter Abrahams). Bernie is a former detective turned PI. Chet is his k9 school drop out (there was a squirrel involved) dog and partner. What makes the books such a great series is that they are told from Chet's point of view, with usually hilarious results. They're obviously a mystery series, but are on the lighter side. They are always my go-to books! That sounds like a dog version of my favorite "The Cat Who...." books! I hadn't heard of Chet and Bernie, but I just put a hold on the first one from my library. Yay! I hope you like them! I'll have to check out "The Cat Who..." series!

A lot of them that have been mentioned but I will also add:
Iris Johansen - the Eve Duncan series
Larry McMurty - Lonesome Dove series, The Last Picture Show series, plus he has some other books that have multiple Books that are interrelated or with same characters. I love all of his stuff.
young adult - Trixie Belden

I'm going to have to go back through this post and make notes. My reading tastes have changed over the last few years. My current favorite series are:
1. Slough House by Mick Herron 2. Amelia Peabody by Barbara Rosenblatt 3. Mrs. Pollifax by Dorothy Gilman
And obviously some of the classics like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Anne of Green Gables

I love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. The characters are so over the top!
I also really love Marshall Karp's series with Lomax and Biggs, police detectives. They have a lot of humor. There is even a scrapbook one.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Veronica Speedwell series by Deanna Raybourn (unless I missed it). I LOVE this series!! I also loved the Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly.

Thanks for letting me know!! I'm glad you liked it. I got really invested in these characters, and really sad when some of my favorites didn't make it!
